Pretty good food for a cold night and not wanting to wait in line to be seated at any restaurant. Had the Rocky Pilly.

Good but not great. I guess I’m just not a philly cheesesteak fan or something. Also kind of pricey too. Give it a try though

This place sucks. No working bathroom and the food is not worth the price. Small portions and weak service. I think it is not doing too well and the owners are trying to skimp on portion size. He has his business model backwards. Do not eat here. It is sorry

I love this place! If I attend sjsu I probably would come here for lunch all the time First time here I tried some hoagie. Not sure what it was called but I really liked it. Then the other times I’ve been here I have been hooked on their bulgogi bowls and never ordered anything else. I get it with extra meat and the amount is definitely filling! The meat is really tasty and this place is one of my favorite places for bulgogi. The owner is Korean I think so he probably knows how to bulgogi right. Hahaha Kimchi is on sour side. It’s okkkk I prefer my kimchi spicy –1

I’ve been here a few times but never had their bimibap. It was a terrible decision. They gave like a table spoonful of meat and then when I asked why my $ 9 meal had no meat they told me I had to pay extra and request it when I ordered so I couldn’t order more later. Ridiculous. I used to like this place too because it’s open late.

This place is pretty good. Good hoagies :) I usually order the 2 piece fish and chips, but I also like their turkey royal! This place is super close to SJSU, so I have stopped by a few times for lunch and dinner. I noticed the price have gone up a little, but they give you 10% off your purchase if you show them your student id :)

There are about 8 «special» roll sandwiches they have to offer and I’ve always leaned towards the Brave Heart combo. The sandwich consists of steak, sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions, melted cheese, bacon, fries, and BBQ sauce. The combo comes with a fountain soda drink(refill is .50) and thick slices of fries. I personally don’t like fries since they’re sliced pretty thick, but the fries in the sandwich were thinly cut which I liked more. There’s a lot of flavor in the sandwich and I like how they toast the hoagies roll which gives it a good crunch. This sandwich is pretty fattening and very small, but that goes towards all the other sandwiches as well. Everytime I come here, the line is almost out the door. The place is very narrow and tight-spaced. I won’t recommend it if you’re claustrophobic. The last time I was here, my bf and a few friends came around 1−2am and it was packed with loud ass people who had drunchies after coming from the club. You’ll find yourself being cut by people who don’t give a fuck.

This was my first visit to Hoagie Steak Out. They have a variety of specialty sandwiches. I tried the Kogi cheese steak, an Asian fusion sandwich. Frizzled bulgogi(Korean BBQ beef), mushrooms, onions, and mayo on a fresh hoagie roll. I opted or American cheese instead of the Provolone cheese that it normally comes with. $ 8.69 plus tax with a free fountain drink. It was very good and met the expectation I had for a Korean cheesesteak. I thought that the bulgogi was slightly on the sweet side, reminiscent of Teriyaki. They have a small selection of hot sauces and pickled hot peppers for those of us that like to kick it up a notch. SJSU students get a discount with a valid ID. The place doesn’t appear to be ADA compliant. There is a buzzer outside for those in need of assistance getting up the stairs. There is no parking lot, but they are right across the street from the City of San Jose’s Second and San Carlos garage located at 280 South Second Street. 1 star deducted for not participating in the City of San Jose’s parking validation program.

I been wanting to try this place out, but I don’t drive to downtown during the day as often. So I decided to Door Dash it. I ordered the Gangnam Style its Spicy Pork Bulgogi Hoagie. Not sure if it was because I was craving Pork Bulgogi or it was just that good. It was very flavorful. I would order from here again.

Great hoagies and also great korean dishes too. The hoagies are unique. I’m not sure I’ve noticed a simple Philly cheesesteak on the menu but the Superman Deluxe and the Godfather more than make up for that. The hoagies are huge so this isn’t a good place if you’re on a diet. Otherwise, go for it! It’s located a few blocks from SJSU and is open late at night. If you come here late, expect some amazing people-watching opportunities. This place is filled with entertaining individuals late at night.

After consuming the refreshing frozen yogurt at Yogurtland( ) I felt I still needed something heavier possibly in the form of real food to get me through a few more hours of the San Jose Summer Jazz Fest. I had seen some of the food booth options at the festival earlier in the day and nothing really jumped out at me as something I really wanted to try. Hoagie Steak-Out is located on the block across the street to Yogurtland and down to the opposite corner. I had eaten here before sometime last year and I recall I did like my hot sandwich at the time so I decided to make a return visit. Their menu consists mostly of hot sandwiches served on a hoagie roll and Korean-inspired rice plates. On the right hand wall facing the counter there are photos of many of their sandwiches including a list of ingredients for each. It took me a bit of time to decide what I wanted to order, but I finally decided on the Rising Sun which combined chopped-up steak looking similar to what can be found on cheese steaks, grilled onions, sauteed mushrooms and green bell peppers, American cheese all topped off with a fried egg. The $ 8.30($ 9.03 including tax) price tag wasn’t too bad as it included a 16 ounce fountain drink. In less than 5 minutes my number was called, and I have to admit these folks do not cheat you on the ingredients( ). I was slightly disappointed that the yolk on the egg had broken and it was mostly cooked through( ) meaning there really wasn’t going to be a «sun» on this Rising Sun. Of course if they were going to cook the egg all the way through I would have liked some crispy edges on the egg whites, but I didn’t get that either. The sandwich was flavorful though, not very oily and all of the ingredients held together well on the soft but sturdy sandwich roll. It did exactly what I wanted though in filling me up for the next several hours so mission accomplished!
