Jenny’s Kitchen is located in a tiny strip mall on the corner of Lawrence Expressway and Moorpark. The parking lot is equally as tiny as the strip mall and half the spaces are 15 minute spots. No worries — Jenny’s is mainly a takeout spot so you’ll be in and out in a jiffy anyway.(They do have a token table, but no one eats there since you’re literally on Lawrence, and it’s really noisy.) The food is all really tasty. The chive/egg/vermicelli filled pancakes are my favorite. My main gripe though is that while the food tastes good, Jenny’s is on the pricey side for the amount of food you get. That’s why I usually get their buns to help fill me up — 4 buns for $ 4.99 plus tax. Their lunches are an okay deal too. They let you choose whatever food they have set out, but most of the choices are veggies and tofu.

A great place to try authentic and fattening Taiwanese food. My friend and I tried this place out and I loved their scallion sandwiches. A winner in my book! Writing this now makes me drool and dream of them. However be forewarned, their other dishes requires you to buy the entire take out box. That was too bad because I don’t think people want to take all of that food home. If you’re like me, I prefer tastings and if I understood correctly, Taiwan is the capital of appetizers! Anyways, still a great spot to try Taiwanese foods.

LOVETHISPLACE. Honestly, I should probably keep quiet about this place so the lines aren’t so long and their prices don’t go up with the popularity. But screw it, gotta sing my praises for their hardworking chefs in the back who crank out all the best kind of Chinese homemade/grab-and-go grub life has to offer. Vegetable buns, marinated tofu, chive and egg pockets, green onion pancakes, I want it alllllll Enjoy while you can because, I am out of town and know the pain of not being able to have their marinated tofu, and lemme tell ya, it sucks.

Feels like home cooking and(sometimes) even better(sorry mom)! Don’t feel bummed out seeing the precooked foood. We tried out the green onion pancake, smoked chicken, and okra. everything was just delicious! I can’t say much more, but just come early, take your food home, and give this place a try!

Note that this is not really a restaurant. It’s more of a grab-n-go, take-out place. They do have a few tables outside for those who want to sit down and eat though. I usually come here to get grub when I don’t feel like cooking for my next few meals and happen to be in the mood for savory asian food. I would always get their meat buns, chive-filled pancakes, and their beef rolls. I don’t strictly just eat them for lunch and dinner. they make great savory breakfast items too! Their meat buns have a good proportion of meat and dough– I would recommend them if you like meat buns! They’re a classic and are delicious. Instead of the typical chive pockets, they make them into flat circular pancakes. By doing this, you actually get more stuffing and less dough. There’s basically a thin layer of dough is wrapped around the mixture of eggs, chives, and glass noodles. This is probably my favorite item! As for their beef rolls, they use their green onion pancake to wrap the slices of beef and sliced cucumbers in. The thing I like most about the beef rolls is that 1) it is not too greasy like some other places and 2) the crunch from the cucumbers makes the rolls 10x tastier. There’s places where they simply put green onion in with the beef instead of cucumbers, which I find to be just… eh. The green onion pancake is on the thicker side, not very crispy, and is on the chewier side. I personally like this kind of texture. I would recommend you to check this family-owned business if you like traditional Taiwanese style staples.

I’ve been eating green onion pancakes for years, but it was not until I had one here, that I was blown away. It’s $ 3.50ish for one, and I thought it was kind of pricey at first, but it’s huge. I definitely get full off of one. You can tell that they’re freshly made by temperature and texture. They’re nice enough to give you a hot one if you tell them you’ll be eating it shortly after. I’m sure their other pastries are good too, but the green onion pancake is worth the try.

Totally delicious. My boyfriend and I were craving Chinese food this evening and have been wanting to try Jenny’s Kitchen for a while. The building is small so there are less distractions from the savory food being served. I was a bit intimidated by all the Chinese writing on the front, but it turns out everything inside is labelled in super clear English. =) The gentleman behind the counter was really nice, and was happy to make recommendations for our first visit. We got the stir fried veggies w/egg, 2 **HUGE** green onion pancakes and a bunch of veggie bao for the fridge for later. The selection of food is laid out on the counter in to-go boxes. It all looks super tempting– roasted chicken, noodles, veggie dishes, whole fried fish, oh yeah! You pick what you want then head out the door. Fast food and great quality. The prices are very reasonable. As per what other reviewers have said, the green onion pancakes are NOJOKE. Huge, flaky on the outside, moist, rich, chewy and oh so flavorful on the inside. Great with the hoisin I keep in the fridge. Thanks so much, Jenny’s Kitchen! We can’t wait to come back!

Whether you’re on a diet or not, there are some days when you just have a craving for some delicious, greasy, and spicy Chinese food. For those times, go to Panda Express. If you want a healthier alternative to the panda, come over to Jenny’s Kitchen. My neighbor first introduced me to this hole in the wall. It’s not a very big place, but has some food with really big flavors. You’re not going to find all their food smother in generic sauce. You’re not going to have tons of fried dumplings. If you’re looking for MSG, well, the New York Knicks aren’t here and neither is the flavor enhancer. The one item synonymous with Jenny’s Kitchen is the green onion pancake. If you’re looking for the round, tortilla-looking one, then you won’t find it here. Theirs is a huge, Cir-tangle(Circle/Rectangle) that looks almost like a quesadilla with green onions. Yes, by the time you order it and get home, it will probably be cold. But, a minute or two in a frying pan(no oil) will bring that puppy back to life! They also have this chive/egg/vermicelli pancake that is equally as delicious. Again, if you bring it home and it’s cold, just throw it on the frying pan and the skin will be chewy in a few minutes. Another item to mention is the pork or beef rolls. Both are good, but the pork seems to be a little better as the meat isn’t as tough. They have many other dishes like noodles, stir fry, and so many different kinds of baked goods. Also, I must warn you that there is a big use of Chinese Five Spice in their food. I don’t mind, but some people don’t like the comination. If you like dumplings, you are in luck! They sell a huge variety of frozen ones. Just pop them I soup for a few minutes and BAM, dumpling city!

Scallion pancake is the best!!! Tea eggs are great as well. Price is a little on the high side but thats okay as you cant really find this anywhere else. Also, i got some frozen wonton and will update how that tastes! Updating on my review, the frozen wonton is not good. Don’t get that :(Nevertheless, their scallion pancake is unbeatable!

I love me some chinese breakfast and this is a great option for those of us who are craving 蔥油餅 green onion pancakes and can’t afford the $$thousands it now costs to fly to taiwan’s street markets. The best part is that it’s hand-rolled and each bite has«Q”/ chewiness that only pancakes made from scratch can have. Another bonus is that it’ a great vegetarian option for those who cannot eat chives, garlic, or onions. They have options ranging from sweet pastries, buns, dumplings, sticky rice, to stuffed pancakes to try! All of these are freezer friendly and you can buy a pack to take home; pan heat or steam for a few min and deliciousness + convenience is served. **note: not a sit down restaurant. Definitely a catering and to-go style shop!

Quick Food Tip: For great food, follow the mothers! I stopped by for on an early weekday and there was a stream of Chinese women filling the cramped parking lot, dropping by, and picking up the popular take out items. Many had kids in tow and they all seemed to be familiar with the area. Jenny’s Kitchen is located in a non-descript strip mall about a mile from Mitsuwa and focuses on Northern Chinese cuisine. It’s strictly a take-out store front though there is one small table that was occupied outside. A gentleman was manning the cashier and taking the orders and a small queue had already formed when I dropped by. Although he was taking orders in Mandarin, he easily switched to English when I stepped up and ordered the few items I wanted in English. Green Onion Pancake — $ 3.49. It’s a very large green onion pancake and they sell a lot of these. Oily and delicious, it’s filled with green onion and is super tasty. Not for the health freaks, but I loved the authentic taste and the generous size. Beef Roll — $ 9.99. This takes their popular green onion pancake, adds cucumber and slices of beef and puts it all into a sliced roll with a nice sauce. It’s a large portion as well and is very tasty. The green onion roll is more soft and chewy than crispy, but I loved the flavor too. Chili Sauce — $ 4.99. Gorgeous plastic jars of chili flakes and oil swirl by the entrée items. I couldn’t resist and bought a tub. It’s very spicy and has a flavor that is quite powerful. There’s no doubt that the Chinese know how to do hot sauce though. I look forward to adding this to many home dishes. Overall, it was a great stop at Jenny’s Kitchen. I have no idea how long they’ve been open but it seems to be very well known among the Chinese customer base that I witnessed when I stopped by. There are a lot of items to choose from though the pastry items seem most popular. They even have lunch combination boxes where you can combine two or three portions and the take out containers are filled to the brim. I’d easily recommend any of these items over similar fare at Ranch 99. Jenny’s Kitchen accepts credit cards, but only for orders over $ 15 and not American Express.

Jenny’s Kitchen has its ups and downs. The staff is super nice and helpful. Also, they have a few items that are awesome — particularly the more breakfast-y stuff. The beef roll(stewed beef in scallion pancake with scallion, cucumber and hoisin) seems to be a specialty and is really good. They also have some really good fresh buns and dumplings on a rack. They also have a lunch plate /bento type area, which had some very traditional items which was good, but they weren’t quite as tasty as the breakfast foods. Will definitely come back for the beef roll and buns.

Homemade Chinese food. Not Americanized like Panda Express or PF Changs. Onion Pancake: unique interpretation. Chewy, closer to naan bread. Not oily. She uses some special mix with different gluten flours. Unique cheap, very large. Chive/Egg cakes: green Asian garlic chives, not the thin Onion chives. Very good, popular for parties. Homemade dumplings: frozen with vegetarian options, organic pork/chicken, fish, shrimp combinations. ~50/$ 25.00. Probably the best lunch box special in the bay area. Container of more than you can eat with a daily variety of items including fish, tofu, beef, pork, egg, veggie. Each day is different depending on what is fresh. Dinner box also available. Single item takeout. No set menu; like going to someone’s home kitchen. Most customers speak chinese, owners speak english if necessary. Constant business.

I have been here many times and am never disappointed.(I wanted to go to the Korean place several doors down, but they were closed so I thought I’d give the unlikely take-out place a try.) The food is soooo tasty! Because I do not get up to Cupertino often(Jenny’s Kitchen is on the border of Cupertino) — I eat the same thing every time: 1.) Stewed Pig’s feet. God! I so love those pig feet. I eat them outside with a coke from the drug store across the street. That pig foot is so succulent and tasty… and messy. There is a coating of pig foot gelatin all over my face and hands after I eat them. 2.) My second course for this amazing lunch is the chicken/mushroom rice tamale. This is a tamale that is wrapped in lotus leaves. The leaves, the mushrooms, the rice and the chicken have a flavor that all comes together to make my stomach scream«More! More! More!». 3.) They make lovely pastries with the delicate tastes of sesame, flour and sweetness! I like the black bean sesame seed balls that are filled with the black bean sesame paste. The food there is very reasonably priced — that’s one reason I always pig out. Where else could I find such tasty food in such an abundance? I’m a big fan of San Francisco Chinatown food — but Jenny’s Kitchen has them beat with the pig’s feet and the tamale’s. The«gin-doy» is a push. Unlike San Francisco, Jenny’s Kitchen is run by Mandarins who I suppose are from Taiwan. I’ve always favored Cantonese food and see the subtle differences(or at least I THINK I do!) in Jenny’s fare and the way the Cantonese prepare their food. If you are curious, it would be good to visit Jenny’s place to see for yourself. I tried to order food using the Cantonese that I know, but they could not understand me. I think it’s because no one speaks Cantonese there… my Cantonese is bad, but I still manage to get a few things at restaurants consistently. They always look at me like I’m having an epileptic fit or something when I try and speak Cantonese to them… so I point and and say, «Two of those…».(Feels so rude!) Once when I was there I met Jenny’s mom. She just got off work and I was eating outside. We talked about the food and life. I think we are about the same age — she was thoughtful and friendly. It was one of those«two ships passing in the night» experiences where there is a connection — a conversation — and then you never see the person again.

Mmm! This bakery/lunch box spot attracts a long line of supporters… first time here I was quite surprised at the hype it had. A bakery but also serving a variety of vegetarian food items, looks like everything is made fresh and as you wait in line you’ll see trays come hot fresh from the oven. The green onion pancake from here was one of the yummiest I’ve had! Best when fresh it is huge, not too greasy and a nice munch. Their assortment of buns are also quite yummy, ranging around $ 2 – 3 dollars. The owners are so nice and even if we didn’t speak Chinese or were familiar with the menu, the man who helped us took the time to explain and introduce us to some of the favorites.

Even though the food wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, I am happy a place like this exists — so I’m giving it an extra star. The man behind the counter is super attentive and explains everything. You get a big box of authentic asian food for about $ 8. The scallion pancakes are huge, I would have liked them a bit crispier — but I ate every single bite. A fun little place to have tried. Oh and we were there the weekend before thanksgiving, and some of the buns were thanksgiving themed — a pumpkin one, a cranberry one, I think a turkey one.

So I’ve only been to this place one time so far(** update: 3 times), but the amount of different home cooked dishes that they had was amazing. It looked totally different than the pictures, so I am not sure if it’s a dinner time thing or not, but they had about 10 different dishes on the counter and kept bringing out new ones. They were all in take-out styrofoam containers, not in big metal dishes that the pictures had. You just chose the ones you wanted and they closed the lid and gave it to you. The variety was really great. I could see about 6 or 7 different dishes that I would have wanted to try, on top of the tons of «dough» based items. The place had people coming in and out just in the 10 minutes I was there. They are clearly not there for cheap food as each dish was about 8 or 9 dollars(I forget exactly). I think that people like it because they are home-cooked style dishes, not restaurant style. I’ll definitely be back.

You should definitely try the green onion pancake and/or the beef roll if you stop by Jenny’s! The green onion pancake is the best we’ve had, and when it’s stuffed with thin slices of beef, hoison sauce, and cucumbers, it’s even better! It’s a little pricey at ~$ 8 for a beef roll, but it is a large portion and perfect for sharing between 2 people. Jenny, the owner, is very sweet and helpful. She explains that everything they serve is prepared and cooked there, so the food tastes homemade. I found the items to be more on the plain side and not too salty or greasy, which I appreciate. Daikon sesame pastry– Generous amount of radish with a buttery flaky outside layer. Not super flavorful but very fresh and filling. Lotus seed mooncake– I’m impressed that Jenny makes these herself! Beautifully prepared and very good, my Mom liked how it tasted so fresh compared to the mooncakes you typically buy in the store. Lunch/dinner box– Basically the earlier you come, the more variety of dishes you get to try(but the price is the same). They put some of each dish and pack it into the styrofoam container until it barely closes. For example, if they make 8 dishes in the morning, you can get all 8 dishes if you arrive early. If you come later in the day and there are only 5 left, you get those 5 dishes for your to-go box. Small, family-owned business and food is only for take-out(unless you want to sit at the one table outside). Friendly service and they speak English! Both meat and vegetarian friendly items, pancakes, freshly baked breads/rolls, and frozen dumplings.

In all my years of Asian upbringing, I’ve somehow never actually tasted or heard of one of Jenny’s Kitchen’s specialty rolls, a delightful concoction of meat and green onions enclosed in a green onion pancake(cong you bing). I liked what I saw on the Unilocal and headed downways to Jenny’s to give them a shot. Tell you what, I liked them suckers. I’ve tried two different ones from here, the pork and the beef. One of my favorite Taiwanese dishes is the breakfast specialty, niu rou shao bing, and so I figured I’d take to the beef. Instead, I daresay I like the pork better. It’s more flavorful and oozes natural sauce, making the roll less dry than the beef. The bing is also really good at Jenny’s. It’s a little starchy and dense, not optimally flaky as I’d like, but very tasty and perfect for this Asian tortilla. Jenny’s also has a bunch of other Asian goodies stocked up here. I have also tried the tea eggs(cha ye dan) and the sticky rice(ba zang or zong zi). I’ve had better elsewhere, but that’s not a ding on Jenny’s quality by any means.
