Good work and honest people.
Had solar installed in our pool last year. Ken was not the only bid we got but he shot us straight and promised us good work. Ken’s team has since delivered on that promise and has since been out to fix a few issues. One with the controller (user error) and one with a few broken tubes on a panel (again, not a product issue. AC workers stepped on it and broke them)
If you want solar for your pool, do yourself a favor and go with Ken’s Solar. You won’t regret your decision.

Responding to C. G. San Jose — We’ve had a solar pool system put in by Ken for 9 years. He’s always given prompt responses to phone calls and decent service. However, we’ve been calling him now for over a week, with no response. From your comment, it sounds like the problem (whatever it is) began before May 9, 2016.

Called a few times to inquire about service pool solar. No reply or acknowledgement at all. Either they are out of business or too busy to take new customer calls or they have really poor customer service, can’t recommend either way.

We added solar heating to our pool 2 years ago. The work was done well, the crew cleaned up after themselves and left me completely satisfied. The system has worked flawlessly. I called yesterday to help get help with the settings. They happened to be at another home close by and stopped by and took care of me and did not charge me.
I will gladly refer Ken’s Solar to family and friends.

Bought system 5÷22÷2014, and now it’s leaking for second time in less than a year. I am not sure what going on. Nice people to work with, the only problem

Where to start with this one man show. We got our solar system installed roughly around May-​June of last year ’14 and its been fantastic. The product is great, the customer service and follow-​up is where this company gets a one star from me, negative stars if I could. The installer, Andy, said he would return later that day to put a cap on my gas line where the pool heater was and never returned. I called Ken numerous times after my installation and not once did he return my phone calls. I called him last last Thursday and he still hasn’t returned my damn call! I consider myself a small business oriented person, I do what I can to support the little guys, but I wish I chose a bigger company that takes much better care of their customers.

A great experience. Ken took care of me and they got the job done in a single day. No issues with the system and it all works great once I got the hang of the controls. Extended the swim life of my pool and helped keep it up at the temp I enjoy.

Ken was very patient as I decided on what scope of work I wanted to perform, I ended up doing a very large job – salt water conversion, full solar install, smart panel/​valves, and new filter. His quote was very competitive and he was able to start the same week I decided.
Not only did the install go according to plan, but he gave me all the time I wanted to learn how to care for the pool myself (which is a new goal of mine), with nifty secrets of the trade. He even bought all the new supplies/​tools/​some chems I’d need to perform these tasks and charged me just his cost. Bottom line, work was solid, and I really appreciated the great deal of patience he displayed in both deciding, and sharing knowledge.

Ken and his team installed our solar recently I dont know what the bad review guy is talking about. His work is phenominal; he and his team are such professionals. They were always on time, and did a qaulity installation of our solar. He was a treat to work with, and now that my neighbors are looking into solar they have had some bids and none of them were qouting all the top notch equipement Ken uses. We have never been so impressed. I would recommend Ken to anyone who wants a qaultiy product that will last a lifetime for a reasonable and fair price. My husband Satt and I couldnt be happier.

Absolutely the worst contractor I’ve ever used. Didn’t finish the job on time. I called almost everyday and they would not return my calls. It took them three weeks to return my multiple phone calls and messages. I recently went up to the roof and noticed they broke a few tiles they never told me about. I wish I would have went with a more reputable company.

Ken’s Solar and Heating installed a pool solar system and a variable speed pump at my house in May 2014. Ken and his guys were a pleasure to work with and they did an excellent job. The job was done quickly and the pool has been so warm! We love it and wish we would have done it sooner! I would highly recommend Ken’s Solar and Heating!

Ken installed my original solar system in 1984 and then in 1996 began providing the weekly service and maintenance for my pool. I would not change companies for any amount of money.
My pool has ALWAYS been sparkling clean with never a hint of any algae. Ken and his crew are always patient with my questions as well as explaining, in detail, how the equipment works. They always check the equipment weekly and alert me if there is a problem. They always help me make the best decision for repair or replacement taking cost into consideration.
Just recently I upgraded the entire solar system from the ground up. The crew was here when expected and finished in a very short time. They were very careful to not damage the (brand new) roof. When finished they took the time to explain how everything works and how to adjust settings. When the crew left, everything was clean … no materials left on the ground or anywhere in the yard.
Ken’s Solar is an awesome company and I wouldn’t hesitate even a moment to recommend them for all of your pool needs!!!

We contracted Ken to replace our aging, leaking solar system with his product. He was forthright and most helpful in his meeting with us and we chose to go with him for the job, including replacing a 2yr old single speed pump with his variable speed one (an idea we were no entirely comfortable with).
The crew was prompt, efficient and helpful and we were pleased. We kept close watch on the electric bill and immediately saw a $ 60 — $ 70 drop on the bill so, needless to say, we were comfortable with the pump replacement decision.
We later ran into a problem with our understanding of the operation of the digital control system for the pump. We are both retired and quite illiterate with computers and other ‘programmable logic’ systems and were not able to affect some ‘over-​rides’ and re-​programings that we required. As we were frequently gone from our home, we failed to make contact with Ken for approximately 6 months for help. He stated that due to the extensive delay, he would need a nominal charge for a house call. We begrudgingly agreed and his foreman arrived the next day, patiently taking a good deal of time to go through the control system with us, answer all of our questions and verify that we actually understood everything, then waived the visit charge.
Our experience flys in the face of those few folks who claimed ‘poor service’ and convinces us that we are (and will remain) faithful and willing customers of Ken’ Services.

This company installed our Solar heater 2+ years back. Installation experience was great and we were very satisfied with overall engagement. That is until things break. Our panels started leaking water. Our repeated telephone messages met with no response from the owner. They use a particular type of equipment so getting someone else to come and fix was also a pain. Then i left a message from an unknown number asking for a quote for new installation, he called right back but when he learned my message was to fix an existing install, he gave me a time on which he would show up to fix it but was a no show.
I am giving him aggregate 1 stars to reflect that interaction during new installation was fine but if something breaks, you are on your own even if you are willing to pay to get it fixed. EEKS. This is a huge inconvenience because solar panel is not an every day thing that you can hire anyone to fix.

Ken installed our solar pool heating system + a new pump etc and did a good job with installation — My poor rating is primarily because this company does not seem to care about you after the installation and after they got their money. We are having issues with the pump and heating now and called them to come and take a look. There was no response and no follow-​up.

Ken from Ken Solar is the BEST. He installed our pool solar this Dec. Here is why I highly recommend Ken & his team:
1) excellent job on the pool solar installation — came on time and finished up on time
2) priced reasonably
3) we were getting the house solar (PV) done around the same time with another contractor — as luck would have there was some confusion on the pool conduit routing and impact on the PV install. Ken took care of it right away at no extra charge.
Oh and Ken recommended we get the variable speed pump and I am glad we did, he knows what he is talking about and its a good thing we trusted his expertise.
Ken is excellent to work with and does a great job.

We had a wonderful experience working with Ken and his team to add Solar heating to our pool in last month. On the first home visit to assess the work, Ken spent an hour explaining everything on Solar pool heating, and also pool maintenance. He is very knowledgable (20+ years in pool business) and patient, and I learned a great deal from him on not only the best option to add solar heating, but also how to get more energy efficient by using a variable speed bump and regular filter maintenance. He put his quote in writing and gave a good discount. After we made the decision to go with Ken’s team, they came within the same week and did both the solar pool heating installation and variable speed pump installation within half a day. The job is top notch and they took good effort to not to damage any tile on the roof. Although we haven’t fully enjoyed the heated pool yet since it is not swim season, we have been thrilled by the energy saving from the variable speed pump. Just imagine cutting down from 3000W to 400W for regular filter pump running, and it will pay off itself within 12 to 18 months. Every pool owner should consider replacing their pump if you are paying high energy bills and still use old style single speed pump. I am very thankful to Ken for the advice.

Pretty impressive solar pool installation. Ken’s bid was the lowest, the crew showed up within a couple of days and had the solar installed in a couple of hours. The water became a very comfortable 80 – 84 degrees within two days. After a small leak developed the crew was over the following day to repair it. After ten years of never using our freezing pool we can now enjoy a swim every day and we love it! Thanks Ken!
