Ate dinner here last night. Pretty good food at good price.

Lupe’s California burrito owns my heart. I used to come here all the time in high school(Santa Teresa is right across the street) and the employees always recognize me and basically know my order. Even now after I’ve graduated and don’t frequent here as much as I did in high school, they still recognize me. Their horchata is also amazing.

Great little whole in the wall Mexican place. Great service and delicious food as well. My go to is the Taco Salad! They make the shell not so greasy like other places. Hit em up you won’t be dissapointed.

Cheap place for when you are craving a burrito! I love their bean and cheese burrito, I used to get it almost everyday after school!

A dirty hole in the wall. The food is straight from the can to your plate. It is cheap on the wallet. Can’t even call this Mexican food.

Not that great. We had their fish tacos and shrimp tacos. Both were very sloppily done. The shrimp tacos had too much red sauce and onions. The kids had chicken and cheese quesadilla. Both were very thin, and barely had chicken in them.

Best in the area by far. Authentic family owned and operated. This place does it right. Not like Casa Theresa across the street. If you want cafeteria food and bad service go to Casa Teresa. If you want delicious authentic Mexican food go here. You won’t be disappointed.

EXCELLENT, hole in the wall Mexican food! It’s the BOMB! I have’t had anything that I don’t like! If their Chile Rellenos, Enchiladas, and Tacos are good, everything else follows, yes they are! Rice and beans are fresh and excellent! Service is friendly!

We just moved to south san jose. We now live a few blocks from the restaurant and have eaten from here twice. Small quiet place with great food!

Came here on a Tuesday night at 8:40 pm after a flight home from from Mexico. Needless to say we hadn’t had our fill of Mexican food while on vacation and felt the need to have our last meal at Lupe’s. I ordered the Lupe’s burrito(made veggie) with red sauce on top. It was really good and the hit the spot, but I have to say that I like Iguanas better. What can I say? I’m loyal when it comes to Mexican food =) Note: They have vegetarian re-fried beans.

I had a good lunch experience here this afternoon. The lady who was working behind the counter was friendly and my food was quick to the table. Very clean restaurant, which is always a good sign when you are eating. I ordered the Burrito Mojado with grilled chicken, the chicken was fresh and flavorful. Other things that stood out was the great prices, complimentary chips, salsa bar, huge variety of drinks, paletas and even though I don’t drink they sell beer. Good spot.

Great little Mom and Pop place, right down the street from us. The older couple that run it are so sweet and they make all the food so fresh. Their breakfast burritos are the SHIZZZ!!! YUMMM!

When my husband and I can’t figure out what to eat for dinner, we default to fish tacos from Lupe’s. It’s a quick bike ride and always fresh and tasty. The other dishes are good when you’re hungry and don’t feel like cooking. I’ve had better but I’m glad they’re near by when I’m too lazy to cook. Update: 3÷29÷15: Once I walked in and I didn’t have enough cash for my meal and I left my debit card at home. The sweet gentleman behind the counter told me it was okay and I can pay next time. Who does that anymore? I was really touched and then remembered I had a roll of quarters in the car. Left him a nice tip for take out just because… They’re getting another star for that!

The burrito seem a bit more beans then meat. Next time I will order the extra meat option for a couple of bucks more.

The food is a little overpriced for the quality. Personally, I appreciate the homey feel to the entire taqueria, but some of the stuff on the menu turns out to be bland. You can never go wrong with the care asada fries or super nachos. Those a personal favorite. I have yet to to try any entrees because I usually have my heart set on nacho fries once I walk in the door. I love the salsa bar and the location, but I wish refills didn’t cost 60 cents.

We had cheese enchiladas, carne asada entrée, chips, fresh salsa, and Jarritos bottled soda. The sauce on the enchiladas was thin, the carne asada meat didn’t have much seasoning, and the salsa was good. The staff was nice. However, the students from across the street ruined the authenticity of the place with their loud, pubescent antics. Overall, it was okay. I’d go back if I’m nearby and it is not during lunchtime or when school gets out.

Read the menu. No, seriously, read the menu carefully. I ordered the $ 6.95 Bandera Burrito, a regular $ 2.35 Taco, and a $ 3.25 Fidel Taco. Then I saw that the $ 7.19 Bandera Combo comes with a drink for 25 cents more, and there’s an everyday special for four shredded beef or chicken mini tacos for $ 5. $_$ – $ 6.95 Bandera Burrito — The wet burrito comes with red salsa, white sour cream, and green guacamole — creatively layered just like the Mexican flag.(I’m such a sucker for novelties. Viva la Mexico!) The salsa wasn’t very spicy, and be forewarned that the burrito is a hot mess. The carnitas was flavorful and not dry or tough. – $ 3.25 Fidel Taco — Meat, beans, and cheese on a double tortilla with one being deep fried. The fried tortilla became soggy, so there was nothing special per se, and I would have preferred a Regular Taco instead. The carne asada was just ok — not that flavorful. – $ 2.35 Regular Taco — Although pricier than other taquerias, the taco was slightly bigger to make up for it. The shredded chicken was unmarinated and flavorless but was helped by the fresh salsa, which didn’t seem like it was from a can.(There’s also a small salsa bar inside.) – $ 1.50 Mexican Coke — Makes this boy happy. :) Next time, I will read the damn menu!

Discovered this place a short while ago, and have been back on a handful of occasions. Since I’m on the go when get food from here, I usually order one of their super burritos, so this review is going to be limited to those. In general, their burritos are better than average. The quality is remarkably consistent — at other places, it can be hit or miss each time I go. The tortillas are always soft and moist, not dried out as can often be the case. The ingredients have a fresh taste, though I think they skimp a bit on the meat. If you order your burrito to go, be advised that they don’t automatically put chips in your bag. I think this should be a standard courtesy, especially since the eat-in patrons always get a bowl while they wait for your food. When I’ve asked for chips to be added, the counter person(who I suspect is the owner) never seems happy about the request, but he complies. The service is efficient, but it’s definitely not service-with-a-smile. But as long as my burrito is good, then I’m happy.

My boyfriend was showing me where he grew up and this was one of the stops. Instantly, I fell in love. It’s such a small, random but well-kempt place. The windows are decorated with streamers of lights and the inside is filled with nicely setup tables(glass over really homey looking tablecloth) and tiny old chairs that remind me of rocking chairs. This place has got to be one of South Side San Jose’s best kept secrets! The lady behind the counter reminded me so much of the maid on Family Guy… that voice! ahh. I really liked her though! My boyfriend got his usual green enchiladas with chicken and I ordered the prawn burrito without beans. Both were delicious!!! The chicken and shrimp in both were juicy and tender, rather than dry and hard to get down like I was expecting. We also loved the rice! It was thoroughly seasoned and just the right texture… kinda crispy even and almost like broken rice. LOVEloveLOVE. I definitely understand why my boyfriend frequented this place so much in high school. I’m curious as to how their California burrito(made with curly fries rather than regular fries) tastes… we’ll definitely stop by for another quick but satisfying lunch the next time we visit the area!
