Holy crap this place is a total gem! Upon walking in you are greeted with such a tantalizing smell from the bakery. They have a huge assortment of sweet breads and cakes, both individual servings and whole ones. Didn’t really see any savory pastries. The torta portions are huuuuuuge, and they range from $ 7.50−8 without tax. One torta could probably feed me for 4 meals honestly, they’re as big as your face. I got the torta asada and it was stacked with meat, a little bit dry but still very good. They are very generous with avocado, tomato, and jalapenos as well, and they slice the torta in two for you. It’s hard to eat it all in one bite so I had to eat a few slices of meat on their own to flatten it down. Came here on a Thursday afternoon and there was a small line of people. It’s a little inefficient because if you want pastries, you have to walk over to the display from the register and point out what you want because they’re unlabeled. It would be a lot easier if there were name tags or price labels. Also a little confusing that they call out«next» or your order/number in Spanish, for those of us who can’t understand. Outside plaza is a little sketchy with a couple loiterers but that’s understandable. Anyways, $ 8 something for how much food you get is a steal, I will be coming here again and again!

No lie, it’s too meaty for me. I’m an ex-vegeterian who honestly likes some meat. just not too much meat. I felt hurtburn, it was a bit too much in the experience, but that shouldn’t overshadow the actual taste of the food. This is more up my boyfriend’s alley who was the one who took me here to begin with. I got the carne asada sandwhich and boy was that TASTY. It’s so stacked though so for the first half(they slice it into two), I just picked at the meat and then ate the avocado(which was a massive amount which I loved) along with other veggies. The second half I tried to bite into the whole sandwich(just for you guys) to see how the flavors meld altogether and it was good: I just couldn’t do it and some of it had to be to-go’d. I was quite envious of the egg in my boyfriend’s sandwich. he mentioned it to me: but I didn’t know that it was a possible option for me since he got the combination of a lot of different meats. I didn’t get cheese on mine and it was phenomenal(in case you’re lactose and think it won’t taste good without.).

Great tortas. I haven’t had one in ages… the one I ordered was honestly enough for two lunches. They have aguas frescas and delicious pastries too.

It was cinco de mayo and I had to get some mexican dish. I was around the area and I thought, I never get this but lets try it again! I introduced my bf to the mexican burger and we were starving for some grub. This burger was huge and meaty so splitting one was just fine. If I wanted, I could have had so many pastries and deliciousness but I was going to save my tummy for the churro man across the street(later I found out it wasnt a churro truck and I was sad). The food was delicious and we just chose the Torta Milenesa. It was $ 7 and super cheap for what it is. The line got superrrr long after us and I thought, damn our wait as the second person in line took AGES… I can only imagine these people’s wait. If you are in a rush, you shouldnt come here.

The customer service sucks the cooks the make the Tortas are rude disrespectful and today 5÷10÷16 at 9:40 i saw a cook almost literally throw a Torta on a glass counter for a customer.

Carne asada torta is delicious. I’ve had the chicken torta also, and that one is really good also. I haven’t had the Mexican bread, but the tortas are so good that I have to give this place 5 stars.

I had my first torta here a few years back. I don’t know if I’ll ever go somewhere else. Once you’ve found the spot, that’s it. How could you go anywhere else? My to go is the torta milanesa. It comes with the crispy lightly breaded meat and they don’t skimp! It’s loaded with meat, tomatoes, jalapenos, cheese, and avocado. If you order it to-go it’s wrapped in aluminum. If you want anything on the side they’ll gladly do so for you. It’s also cut in half too. Usually half a torta is good for me. I’ll generally split it with someone. The whole sandwich is almost as big as my face, haha. They’re a bakery so they offer a wide selection of cookies, cakes, and other baked goodies, all on display. Never really tried them but their cases are always stocked and everything looks very delectable. but I come here for the tortaaaa. :)

Super yummy. They don’t speak any or barely any English but man are those tortas food. Came by for lunch while my dog was getting x-rays at the vet. Super fast and quite friendly service. Those Choco flan cakes look yum with the chocolate covered strawberries! I will have to try that next. I ordered the azada torta and it was nice and tender not chewy and dry as others have posted. Tough break. But mine was perfect

Their tortas are AMAZING! My all time fav is the milanesa(breaded steak). It’s cooked to perfection, bread is nice & crispy, and it’s loaded with cheese, onions, tomatoes, jalapeño & avocado! I love the smell of the fresh pan(breads, cookies, & cakes) they make. They taste great too! Hands down, 1 of the best spots for a torta milanesa =)

I was recommended by my coworker to get our boss bday cake here and I am soo happy I did! Not a lot of bakeries feel comfortable making an exotic cake but this place assures me they can’t make it like the picture I found online. It actually came out a lot better than the picture I gave them! They put in their own design with the sequin belt and stockings. I was just floored when I saw the cake and knew my sexy boss would love it too! It caught a lot of attention at the party and was def a great conversation starter! Upon walking in to order my cake, I also took home 3 cabana tortas and OHEMGEE, it was delicious! I’m not huge on carbs but would eat this sandwich again! My husband and brother never had a torta either, you can imagine they IG the S* out of this! They took cards, A++. Not everyone spoke English but they did have someone to help me cause obviously I’m not Mexican. Place was packed, parking can be tough but Home Depot parking lot is spacious. Tortas are made to orders. Cake was delicious! Highly recommending this bakery to my friends and family!

Pollo torta is pretty good and filling(a must for avocado lovers!) If I had the option I’d love to put some bacon in there(most American statement of the day.) A great place to bring your friends who are visiting ESSJ too, I think it shows some of the great culture and eats of the South Bay, and its a unique offering — something you won’t really be able to find comparable value elsewhere in the Bay! Pro-tip: Don’t order delivery for this place(grub hub, doordash, etc.) For some reason, the portions get smaller and less appetizing than if you were to pick it up fresh yourself. It’s only mildly disappointing, and you kinda wanna go there for the experience too! There are such great desserts you can pick up as well!

I was around the bay trying to find a good«Rosca de Reyes» one that made me feel like I was in Mexico with family. And in this place the just bake the perfect Rosca ! So tasty and fresh, my friends(not Mexicans) where amazed of the delicious bread and the fruit on top . Also, in another day, we had some tortas(Mexican sandwich) hugeeee and delicious ! There was a lot of people and it took a bit time to get the order but it worth it. And then I realized that you can call to order an then pick up later . We will def come back to try more stuff.

My co-worker brought me here for lunch because of their well known tortas. We actually called before we left the office so that they would be ready when we got there. Not sure how long they take to make but it was nice to have it ready when we arrived. Paid(about $ 8) and sat down to eat. My friend and I split the torta azada and the cubano taco. These things are pretty huge. I ate about one and a quarter and was stuffed. The cubano comes with everything — hot dog, ham, fried egg, ground meat, avocado, onions, tomatoes and more. It was my pick and really delicious. The azada was also piled with beef, tomatoes, onions, and jalapenos. It was on the drier side but still really good. Also a bakery, they have tons of cakes and breads and pastries.

5 stars for the tortas! Mixed feelings about the donuts. When I go in the morning they tend to mix in a few not fresh ones with what I get. But I mean, a dozen donut holes for $ 1! It’s forgiven. And it’s good that they are not just throwing away donuts and completely wasting them.

Their tortas really are delicious! They are huge and packed with all the yummy ingredients to complete a perfect torta, for $ 7.50 that’s a deal. They are not stingy with the meat at all, if anything it’s way to much meat for my taste so I take some out and give it to the bf ;) Wait is usually a little to long sometimes, but they make everything so fresh it’s worth the wait. Customer service is always outstanding! They give away free pan dulce throughout the day which is sweet.

Some of the best pan dulce and tortas in the Bay Area. This location has a great variety of pan dulce including campechanas, conchas de vainilla/chocolate, cuernos, empanadas de camote/pina/crema, puerquitos, donuts, flan, choco flan, capirotada, etc. The empanada de camote is probably my favorite pan dulce not too sweet and always taste fresh. If you go on the weekend you can get fresh hot out the oven conchas. They also have fresh juices. If you get a chance try the vampiro juice with a great blend of vegetables. I think the majority of people frequent this location now for the tortas. They have tortas made using freshly baked bread. My usual torta is the milanesa. The milanesa is lightly breaded and smashed between two pieces of bread, tomato, Mexican cheese, jalapenos, and avocado. They have a variety of other tortas including de pollo, cubano, asada, jamon, queso, etc. If you are in the East Side of San Jose I would definitely stop here to pick up a torta and some pan dulce any day of the week.

Try the steak torta if you come here and use Google translate to order in Spanish. My bf came here and got us some dinner. He got me steak torta with avocado, some kind of cheese, the bread was like a sesame bun but thinner and slightly toasted. The meat was very lean, grilled, and delicious. He wished he had gotten the same for him — he had gotten a pork torta, with egg and avacado. He said the one he got for him didn’t taste as good. He had stopped by here, because he was in this area. If I am in the area I might stop by to get the same thing again, but I’d have to order in Spanish. He said that he used Google translate to order our food.
