I absolutely love this place. The food is delicious and always fresh. I love there beef and broccoli and sweet and sour pork.

Meh… the guy who answers the phone is a rude wanker. He acts like you are bothering him, and that he is put-out by taking your order. When you pick it up he is about as friendly as the proctologist on a fat-farm.(Hey maybe this sour-and-dour goober has hemorrhoids.) The food is pretty good, and the on-time, portion size and prices are all reasonable. For me the«hostile counter boy» crossed the line though when he screwed up my to-go order. His pissy demeanor screams he doesn’t give a fart, and then a botched order proved it. Unless he is the owner they ought to can this guy, his personality is so off putting that only the starving would go there.

It’s very similar to Ny Chinese fast food. They have lunch specials and dinner specials. Prices for lunch are pretty good in the 6 – 7 $ range We normally order the chicken and broccoli, beef and broccoli and fried chicken wings. lunch specials comes w fried rice. Their hot oil is good it’s the spicy kind not the sweet one. Service is quick and the guy behind the counter is a straight to the point kinda guy. The only reason I took away off one star is for the chicken wings. For some reason they always taste a little fishy. Doesn’t taste like chicken I think they fry it in older oil and share that oil w other fishy items. So the wings pull in that taste. But the chicken and beef w broccoli are yum

Ming’s is awesome, I can’t believe there are people on here criticizing their food while admitting to love Panda Express lol

Good Chinese food for the price. Their dishes are a good portion and taste fresh. Their combo chow mein is pretty good and their broccoli beef is pretty good as well. The great thing about this place is they have delivery which we normally use for parties or when we have people over the house. The delivery guy is real nice and gets your food to your home nice and warm. I know there are some negative reviews but for the times that we have ordered from Mings, their food has been fresh, tastes good and is of good quality

Horrible rude service from the the male at the register who was apparently unhappy to be there or something. He treated my Mom very rudely and we will NEVER go back here. Not to mention the smell of a dirty gas station bathroom mop. No thank you!!!

This would have been 3 stars but for the attitude of the cashier. He would roll his eyes whenever we asked a question. The food appeared to made fresh and was okay. But we ate there and had bugs flying around our table and on the window. The whole place could use a good scrub down. I will not be back, and if I do the food will definitely be «to-go».

Every time I have their food, I am never disappointed. I am obsessed with their egg drop wonton SOUP! Ohhhhh SOOO good. The owner(guy in the front) is so friendly and will deliver to me even though its 1 mile out of their zone. Great customer service.

Ming’s is located next to Giorgio’s. We tried this place for the first time and ordered to go food. We had a few items and they were OK. I’d recommend this place only if you can’t get what you want at Panda Express. Most of the reviews about this place are accurate, especially about the amount of mushrooms in some dishes.

This is our go-to Chinese restaurant in our neighborhood. While it may not be super high quality, it is consistently fresh and always made to order. This place is our saving grace on long days when we can’t make dinner and need to something nourishing, delicious, fresh, and quick. We love the MooShoo Pork, Garlic Green Beans, and the Steamed Pork Pot Sticker. Their rice is no good. We always make our own but we are rice snobs… so what do we know. Go here is you want a good and fast Chinese meal made fresh.

Recently made a trip and stayed in downtown San Jose. Decided to give this place a try being its the first Chinese restaurant I’ve found in California that serves Egg Drop Soup. Mings didn’t let me down. The egg drop soup was amazing. Taste just the way I remember back East — and they didn’t short you on the egg. The fried wonton might seriously be the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly crunchy and a nice soft center. Potstickers were perfectly cooked as well with a great taste. I had General Tsos for lunch and it was cooked perfectly. Nice crunchy outside with a moist inside. The only issue I had was I felt it could have been spicer. It was a bit too sweet for my liking. The fried rice is very good as well. Highly recommend if you are in town for business or to see a Sharks game.

I don’t know about the service because I ordered out but the food was really good. The only reason I’m giving just stars it’s because we ordered some spicy shrimp and it turned out it was sweet and sour(I hate sweet and sour) The guy and the register was very nice!

Very disappointed. We live very close by so I was hoping this would be our new local, but I doubt I will go there again. First, they got the order wrong. I picked it up and discovered the error when I got home. Serves were large but that’s because it is poor quality. The beef in particular was unpleasant. The garlic sauce was overpowering(and I love garlic!). The only edible thing was the pot stickers. Very disappointing

Really a 5 stars place but for my like the dining area was a bit messy that’s why only 4 stars. I have been wanting to try this place for a while now, today I finally decided to give this place a try and I must say I was very glad I gave them a try. I ordered a chicken chow mein and the plain fried shrimp. The food was ready in about 10 min after I place my order and it just smelled fresh and delicious. The portion of chow mein is more than plenty for one person and the shrimp is so crispy and yummy I wished I could’ve eaten all of it. It was fresh and flavorful definitely met my expectations. The downside to such great place to eat is that the dinning area was messy the floors needed a good sweep and the tables a good wipe. They had no customers when I arrived which means they had time to clean the place. The cashier was watching tv and just glanced at me when j walked in(perhaps he can work on his customer service skills). Definitely coming here again soon!

So bummed. We moved into the neighborhood a few months ago and last night decided to start trying the local Chinese food offerings. Ming’s has pretty high ratings and is nearby so we called and ordered Sesame Chicken, Beef Chow Mein, Beef n Broccoli, White Rice, and Hot n Sour Soup(hubby’s favorite). Total was $ 36, they deliver(wait time ~30 mins), so far so good, right? This definitely is American Chinese, which the reviews were upfront about. That being said, I have a guilty love for Panda Express(hubby is ashamed of my love for the Panda. I know it’s so wrong but it feels so right!) Ming’s Garden didn’t even measure up to Panda. Beef was mushy(almost like it had sat in a warm crock pot for a few days), hot n sour soup was full of lots of unusual ingredients according to hubby(ie a ton of mushrooms and other chunks of stuff) and didn’t have the coveted flavor profile of slightly sweet at first followed by the nice bite towards the end. And then, of course, there was the 2″ long bendy metal bristle hidden in the food that poked my tongue as I took a bite of the Sesame Chicken(which had been ‘okay’ up until the point that I felt pain in my mouth). Bottom line: We won’t be ordering from Ming’s again despite the good price and convenient delivery service. Fingers crossed that our next attempt at good Chinese takeout in this new neighborhood is more successful.

My review is based on knowing this is Americanized Chinese restaurant, so authenticity isn’t a criteria for the review. I was craving some pot-sticker and didn’t feel like driving, so I called for a to go order of pot-sticker(8) and Hunan beef. Pot-sticker is good, I liked the dipping sauce. Hunan beef is flavorless, even though it is suppose to be spicy, but I didn’t taste any. Overall, ok place and close to my house, I wouldn’t go out of my ways for it.

Don’t let the hole in the wall, cafeteria style deter you. The food is some of the best generic American Chinese food around and the lunch deals are super cheap and hard to beat. The hot and sour soup was good and a large bowl was only $ 4.95. We also got the lunch special sesame chicken which was good a generous portion with pork fried rice. Everything had a lot of flavor! Plus-free help your self tea.

I come here very regularly for egg drop soup so my review is based on solely egg drop soup for now. For $ 4.62 you can get a quart of egg drop soup. Like most others stated, Ming’s egg drop soup is very heavy with their egg which is why I’m a regular! The first egg drop soup I had was in Pittsburg and though it had some spice, veggies, and meat in it, Ming’s soup gets the job done for me. It is a very small shop and I don’t think there is enough space to eat inside. They do deliver. Closed on Tuesdays. Parking lot is rather small and compact.

Ming’s Garden provides hefty portions for low prices. I’ve had a few different items from here, including the pork fried rice, fried wontons, General Tso’s chicken, egg drop soup, chicken noodle soup, and chicken chow mein. You could definitely feed a person for about $ 8 or less here, depending on what you got. I would highly recommend getting the egg drop soup, which is delicious and a meal by itself for the amount you get! They don’t skimp on the egg at all. Skip the chicken noodle soup, which sounds a lot more appetizing than you would imagine. This place offers free delivery, but the wait time can be a bit extensive. If it takes you less than 30 – 40 minutes to get to Ming’s, I would recommend driving instead. Food is typically ready in under 10 minutes.

Noelle’s Unilocal Notebook 2014 Ming’s Garden is good Chinese food. It’s located in the same shopping center as my favorite grocery store– Zanotto’s of Willow Glen. Living in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose this is my go to spot for Chinese food. My other go to spot for Chinese food outside of my neighborhood is Jade Cathay(near the San Jose Airport). Ming’s is a small Chinese restaurant there are a few tables inside. Usually, they are filled up during the lunch rush. Since I live nearby, I just get my order to go. You’ll find the owner Joe behind the counter waiting to take your order(he’s such a nice guy!) My favorites are: Beef Broccoli Sweet and Sour Pork Pork Fried Rice Egg Foo Young Steamed veggies They made a variety of other delicious dishes. Today, I tried the vegetables entrée which was comprised of fresh broccoli, carrots, ginger, snap peas, green beans — it was extremely fresh and tasty(it came with a delicious sauce on the side which I used sparingly.). My mom ordered the Egg Foo Young on the lunch menu and it was delicious. You will find that Ming’s Garden has an excellent lunch menu– many delicious items, hearty portions and overall good value. I see other Unilocal reviews debating Ming’s being authentic vs Americanized and I can’t help but laugh. I wonder how many of those people have been to China? I’ve vacationed in Hong Kong and Mainland China and I can tell you Ming’s Garden is good eats. Friendly customer service, a clean restaurant and kitchen, good eats, hearty portions and fair prices makes Ming’s Garden a winner in my book! Happy Eating :) LOVE in 2014, Noelle J.
