I went to Naglee Park Garage because it was on Diners Drive In & Dives and I have to say I was a tad bit disappointed. The food was pretty good but the wait and the atmosphere was a little off. I might consider going back to try it out again.

Just returned from my first dinner at NPG and an I can’t wait to return. BBQ shrimp for me and the Tri Tip Sandwich for my friend. Everything was delicious down to the last bite. If you don’t get your mouth around their vanilla bread pudding with fresh whipped cream and glazed pecans you’re missing out on a world of pleasure! Service was friendly though a little slow but that is understandable considering the amount of kitchen they have to work with. I also enjoyed the ambience and the patio is a perfect outdoor retreat. We will return soon.

I had the burger and the steak sandwich. Both were okay. I felt like the meals were hearty and meaty but lacked additional textures and flavors. It really felt like I was eating a lot of meat. Redeeming them were the bread pudding. There’s crunchy baked bits that are oh so delicious. The brussel sprouts were also out of this world. I love the sitting arrangement and I look forward going back maybe just for drinks. Def a great place for summer outdoor evenings

Meh, not sure what all the hype is about. Kind of a small rustic style place with an outdoor patio on the back for seating. The wooden tables looked and felt as if they needed a good steam cleaning and the umbrellas were covered with black mold looking stains. You order food at the counter and they will bring it when ready. We ordered the Angus burger and Picnic salad to split. Salad came first and was lovely, but swimming in dressing. The burger itself LOOKED nice, thick, poppyseed bun and huge wedge cut french fries on the side, but looks can be deceiving and in this case they were. The burger meat was really very bland, no flavor at all. The bun did not hold up well to the meat, it was way too soft. And the fries, easy to forget. Again, really no flavor. I left half of my half of the burger on the plate. On a positive note, my beer was fine, but how can you mess up something out of a bottle. On yeah, and if you need to use the bathroom, you have to go outside and use the one at the back of the bagel spot. Parking can be difficult, if you come find parking on the street.

After all these years I am back visiting NPG again. Food is still amazing and a great selection of beers.

Finally getting around to write a review for this place. Anyway. The place is compact and cute in a rustic Americana vintage garage way. That’s a mouth full. LoL The minute my Sister and I walked in we get stared down by one of the chefs that was on his break I guess(he had on an apron) at the bar/stools seating. Maybe because, my Sister had her security uniform on. I have no idea. But, it was obvious that we interupted his life by walking in. Waitress said«hi”(no emotions) then, pointed to the menus and said«go ahead and look then let me know when you’re ready». We took 2 minutes and decided on a Angus Burger, White Wine Mussels, and Lamb Ragout. Food was really good! The owner seemed nice. But, stayed sort a hidden. We made eye contact a couple of times. He was in the back but, never really stepped out to greet anyone. Which was alright I guess. Didn’t bug me much. The off duty chef continued to stare at my Sister and I as we ate. Weirdo. LoL I understand that it’s not my home. But, it still needs an inviting atmosphere. Because, well. We paid for our food. It wasn’t free. LoL I’m not asking them to feed me my fries and hold my hands. A simple genuine gratuitous«hi» and«thank you» would of been nice! The only one that was nice and courteous was the young guy. Props to him!

I love Naglee! The food is delicious and the neighborhood ambiance is just plain cute. My favorite plates include the Pork Chop and Vanilla bread pudding. The pork chops are savory and the goat cheese filling adds a yummy tang. If you come here you HAVE to have the bread pudding! It comes in vanilla & chocolate pudding. I’ve only tried the vanilla since I’m not a fan of chocolate in general. It’s hands down heaven on a plate. The bread is crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Somehow they also manage to make the pudding taste like a roasted marshmallow and it’s perfect.

Fantastic neighborhood gem. Went here for Dinner on Saturday night. Fantastic food, great staff. 4 of us… So, we all had something different. Super interesting menu. Everything cooked to perfection and super tasty. And yes… We sampled the bread putting. Very, very good.

OK. This place is tiny. I mean teeny tiny. It’s an old garage that been renovated into a food joint. Someone did something right. I got a stuffed pork chop and it was delicious! Bonus is its pet friendly, they had water bowls for the puppies. I had a dog and a cat with me and it was no problem. Definitely go.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant after a foody friend told me that the food was really good. Here is what I liked: — The pork ribs were cooked perfectly. They were tender and juicy on the inside, flakey and crispy on the outside. — The homemade potato chips that come with the pork ribs are excellent. They were my favorite thing about the Naglee Park Garage. — The space itself is cool; I would go back for a beer and potato chips(did I say their potato chips were awesome?). Here is what I did not like: — The cashier over-sold me on some sweet potato fries because«the cole slaw and chips that come with the ribs are more of a garnish,» and I would want another side. The slaw and chips were NOT a garnish; I would have been fine without the sweet potato fries. — The barbeque sauce was forgettable. — The cole slaw had no flavor. — The Cesar salad was just a straight up, thrown together thing that I could have made in my own kitchen for two bucks. They might have been trying to get themselves together(they open at 5:00pm, and that’s pretty much when I showed up). I want to give it another shot, and I totally suggest trying the Naglee Park Garage yourself. Just start small to feel the food out, and then order more as you go. Don’t order everything all at once like I did.

Been here since the place opened. At one point in time, there were a lot of SJSU soccer girls that were employed here and, therefore, I became a frequent diner here. Louis(one of the owners) has created an amazing COMMUNITY. He has built a community of folks to enjoy a great place to hang… and that is what a great neighborhood joint should be. Naglee Park Garage has created some cool events throughout the years… anything from a place to kick it to bringing the family to a movie night to drinking folks to their Oktoberfest… everything to trying to build a community. The rotating menu is great, you never know what you are going to get. It keeps the Naglee Park Garage folks on their toes and keeps customers coming back! To lunch/dinner and their Sunday brunch, bring it on Naglee Park Garage! Rock on with the cool vibes and great food. Please bring back the Chicken Mulligatawny back!!! It was an absolute fave!

Expensive and not satisfying. Limited inside seating. The Angus burger, beef tip, and trip tip were all not good. Meats were not tender and juicy. Small portion for the beef tip and tri tip. Beef tip was gender but no flavor. Potato wedges weren’t good ether. Not a good place to eat when it’s cold weather because you will most likely sit outside area and freeze to death. Service was decent. The bartender was nice to give another glass of beer when we told him that it didn’t taste right.

Yes. Yes. Yes. This place is a gem. It’s so unique to Naglee Park and adds so much character to it. Guy Fieri also came here! My girlfriend and I had one of those nights where it’s like«I’m craving whatever you want… wherever you wanna go… I’m fine with whatever…» So I said why not the Garage! Yes, why not? The food here is excellent. And I mean excellent! I got the tri-tip sandwich and the only way to describe it is «hearty.» It’s big, it’s filling, and the melted cheese is a great touch. The french fries are equally as impressive. They probably cut a potato into about 6 – 8 thick wedges then fry it. Despite how big they are there’s a lot of crispiness on the outside and on the skin. They have their own in-house created ketchup, which I highly recommend putting on everything. It’s really cool how you can see them cooking right behind the cashier… and that just means the place smells soo goood(although it could get stuffy in there).

Apparently Naglee was on Triple D previously(Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives), and I’ve had them bookmarked forever, so was excited to finally go for dinner recently. We came in on a Saturday night in late September, and were surprised to see they were celebrating Oktoberfest with live music and German beers. It was pretty packed, so we had to wait a decent amount of time in line until seats in their outdoor patio area freed up. There is no indoor seating, and I’m assuming they bring out heat lamps to the outdoor area once it starts getting colder. You order and pay first, then they bring the food to your table. We tried: –Mac & Cheese($ 5.95) & Brussels Sprouts & Bacon($ 5.95) [ : The mac & cheese was good, but nothing special. The brussels sprouts, on the other hand, were super disappointing– it had no sear to it, and some pieces were borderline raw. I wouldn’t order either dish again. –Paprika Pork Ribs(w/Summer Slaw, $ 14.95, ): The ribs were tender, and good, but again nothing special. The slaw was on the vinegar-y side so cut through the richness of the ribs well, but I don’t think I would order this dish again either. –½ lb Angus Burger(w/Sweet Potato Fries, $ 10.50, ): The burger is usually served with home fries, but they were nice enough to substitute it for sweet potato«fries” — which were actually giant wedges of sweet potato. The burger was gigantic, and it was a solid burger, but that was it. The sweet potato«fries» were really good, but you can get full very quickly from eating them. –Vanilla Bread Pudding(w/Whipped Cream & Pecans, $ 6.50, ): Definitely good(especially the fresh whipped cream), but very dense. I liked the outer edges since they were nice and crispy, but the inside was a little too goopy and mushy. They don’t skimp on the portion size though, since we weren’t able to finish this whole dish between 3 girls. The one complaint I have is that we didn’t realize we had to flag down a server to request they start making our bread pudding, and they don’t always have servers walking around the patio area. By the time we found someone to ask about our bread pudding order, it was at least 15 minutes after we had finished the rest of our meal. It then took another 15 – 20 minutes to receive our bread pudding, so we wasted a lot of time sitting around for no reason. The overall theme for the meal was«good but not great». There wasn’t a dish that I thought was a standout, but we could have ordered the wrong items. Based on this experience, I’m not in a hurry to come back to Naglee anytime soon. Parking can be tough, but there is a small lot in this tiny strip mall, and some street parking is available in the residential area.

This is a small neighborhood restaurant that has great food with really fresh ingredients. Order at the counter in front of the food prep area and grab a seat at the picnic tables or other small tables. The food will be delivered to your table when it’s ready. We had the Mussels and a Watermelon & Tomato salad to start. The mussels were huge and plump –excellent. The watermelon and tomatoes were ripe with lots of flavor. For our main course my husband had the Tri-tip sandwich and I had the Veggie sandwich. The buns were fresh and had a lot of character. I felt the potato wedges that come with the sandwiches lacked seasoning but the ketchup had some nice flavor. A couple of other comments — the restaurant seating is outdoors(nice in good weather) but right next to the parking lot of a small shopping center which has it’s disadvantages(cigarette smoke, exhaust). The people who work there don’t come across as warm and friendly which seems odd for such a small neighborhood restaurant.

Very small! I almost missed the location. You order first then you sit wherever you’d like, if their jam packed with orders they’ll let you know and come grab you when you can order again. We were waiting in line and the servers we’re very nice and checked on us continuously making sure we were okay or if they could give us anything to drink while we wait. Thank you for the great service! While we were eating inside the host even checked on us too when she wasn’t between orders. The food was good! Definitely beat my expectations, but nothing over the top crazy either. Ordered their ½ pound Angus Burger with Bacon, Swiss, and Avocado! The Lettuce, Tomato, and Red Onion were put on the side. The patty is cooked to your liking and served on a toasted poppy seed bun. I loved how my burger didn’t fall apart, the bun soaked up the juices just enough to not make the bun soggy while still retaining the flavor. It came with awesome crispy wedged potato fries along with their special house made ketchup. We also got a side of their Mac N Cheese and Sweet Potato Fries. The Sweet Potato Fries were wedged cut and they aren’t the orange sweet potatos but the white ones. I wish they were a little crispier, but they were good to try as well. Different from many other places The Mac N Cheese was delicious! Shell Macaroni and different cheeses, yum! Expect street parking, large outside seating, and very minimal inside seating. Great place to bring groups because you can just order seperately and sit together.

It looks like there are some mix reviews about this place, but I’ve always wanted to try it out for myself. Yes, being on TV did help me know about this place. On a Friday night a line forms out the door, but it moves swiftly. Although all the food items look(and taste) lovely, fit to be for a restaurant with full waiting service, this is just a simple order your food, take a seat and they bring you your food. You get your own utensils, water, etc. Thus the line moving quickly. The place to order your food and the inside seating is small, but they have plenty of nice seating outside. Makes for a nice semi-romantic evening IMO. I ordered the stuffed porkchop and my wife the tri-tip sandwich. As previously mentioned, the food looked outstanding, with tastes and flavor to back it up. My porkchop was a good portion cooked just right. It wasn’t dried out or anything, but I guess it helps that it was stuffed with goodness.(stuffed w/leeks, chevre & shitake mushrooms) It was sitting on a watercrest salad. The salad really helped on the presentation, but wasn’t too much of a fan as my main starch/carb for the porkchop. So I got the mac and cheese on the side! Soo good. Some parts were a little watery, but it was still very good and enjoyable. Definitely not generic tasting mac and cheese. My wife’s tri-tip sandwich was loaded with meat! The bacon they used too was top notch and not generic run of the mill bacon. I had a great first time here with both the food and the atmosphere. I thought it was a good value and served for a nice casual date night.

Went here for breakfast/lunch on a cutesy Sunday afternoon. The place seemed super small/local/hipstery/small business type place. It had a really small indoors, but a large outdoor seating area with long tables for groups and small tables for couples. Perfect place to go when the weather is nice and sunny outside. The place is literally only open for 4 hours a day… I believe it’s Tuesday-Saturday dinner only(5−9pm) and Sunday brunch(9am-2pm). They also have a very small set menu(6 – 8 items). Which is nice because then less options to choose from and there were many appetizing options which still made it hard to choose. Unfortunately when we went, 2 items were already out for the day, so further narrowing our choices. All the dishes come with either a side of fresh fruit or side of potato wedges. We got the Naglee Eggs and the French Toast. The Naglee Eggs were 2 poached eggs atop a steak and potato hash with hollandaise sauce. It was a bit heavy for my taste but still delicious. I did not like the potato wedges, I felt they were cold and the overcooked because the potatoes felt chunky/dry. The French Toast was more of a vanilla bread pudding with whipped cream on it. It was quite sweet and seemed more of a dessert than a brunch meal. Most of their dishes in general seemed quite on the heavy side, be it the cheese or the cream. Cutesy little brunch place, might come back to try the Smoked Salmon scramble or the Spinach Bacon Lasagna. But otherwise, I’m not super dying to come back.

A cool little restaurant that offers some tasty food. The Service: I was greeted by a couple of people as I entered the restaurant. I made sure to read the sign out front and place my order at the register before I sat down. I was helped by an older gentleman who seemed really nice and made sure I was satisfied with my meal on several occasions. Additionally, this same guy also smiled and thanked me as I left. The Food: I ordered a bacon and cheddar tri-tip sandwich with a side of fries and a pint of Allagash beer. The tri-tip was tender, but it needed some additional seasoning; however, there was plenty of flavor in the red onions, bacon, and cheddar cheese. While I enjoyed the fries, the homemade ketchup lacked flavor. As for the beer… It was the perfect compliment to the meal. Conclusion: I will definitely return to this restaurant and try some other items on the menu. This is a restaurant I recommend to everyone who is looking for some tasty American food with great customer service.
