The DC sucks so much this year! The plates are filthy, the food is garbage, the jamba juice is watery, and the bootleg Starbucks has no flavor. The only thing that’s good is their pizza but it’s a hit or miss. The pizza is sometimes undercooked! Wasted my money getting this 5 day meal plan.

for $ 12 you can get an all you can get a variety of all you can eat food and unlimited Jamba Juice! There is also a coffee bar… the food is decent but the unlimited Jamba makes up for it. Just be sure to order you jamba first and then get your food and come back for you jamba. it takes awhile to make since lots of ppl are ordering.

Had steak and crab in one night. Good food and good company. Morning, Lunch, and Dinner rates change(if you’re not a meal plan holder). I like dinner best. Menus are posted outside of the entrance if you were ever wondering what’s going to be served.

Love the DC and its many options. Though at times it can be a little challenging to pick healthy options considering the salad bar is stuffed to the side since the remodeling but other than that it’s great. The addition of the Jamba Juice and the coffee place along with the pizza and other food kitchen is also very nice in the SJSU dining commons. Great place overall. No complains here.

The only positive thing about the DC would be the cookies, free jamba juice and knowing I don’t have to pay for it.

The food here is decent, the burrito line is delicious! However going here every day the food ends up smelling pretty gross and all tasting the same. That being said it’s still pretty cool because outisiders can can come and pay for all you can eat! Not a bad place to stop and get some cheap food

Most of the food here is garbage. Any on campus Dining Common should be ashamed that they subject students to eat this crap day after day. Don’t get their hamburgers/chicken burgers, the bread will be hard. The pizza is extremely unhealthy. Everything is just so bland. If you must, get them to make you a burrito a sandwich. Get a Jamba Juice, and then leave.

I always keep it safe with a sandwich and a piece of fresh fruit. Not really a fan of anything else besides Jamba Juice.

This is #9 on top places to PIGOUT in downtown San Jose: Here’s 2 secrets that San Jose State resident students know about«the D.C.» 1st, they actually allow anyone to eat there. Non-Students just have to pay a fee to do so. and 2nd, the food here is sometimes pretty bad — Except of course for BREAKFAST !!! 5 shiny red stars for the breakfast here. The price for nonstudents is $ 9, but it’s All-You-Can-Eat and likely less expensive than your glitzy hotel buffet — unless of course, your company shareholders are paying your way in San Jose… PS: It’s also All-You-Can-Drink here, and(are you ready for this?) they don’t accept tips here !!!

If you’re going to order a drink, do that and thenn scope out the menus especially on a hot day if you want jamba. Staff is pretty chill. If you have bis groups, might be best to go tot he side with the tvs, but let me tell you the jamba and tully’s side is the crackin side

This place is a hate-love relationship for me. Before when you couldn’t take food out, the food quality was SOMUCH better. Now, they just prepare the food for the purpose of getting it to the students. However, they do have some sushi… unlimited Tullys, and jamba juice(AWESOME!!!). Their burgers have lost their spunk. They prepare so many burgers and leave em out there and they become stale. The sandwich station is still good as ever. The pasta and pizza are ok. Nothing to special about that. This place is only worth it if you get swiped in, or if you have swipes for the purpose of surviving at SJSU. Other than that, I would definitely not pay for it. UNLIMITEDJAMBAJUICE! YUMMERZ!

I had an internal conflict on whether to give SJSU’s DC one star or two. While it’s not the worst food I’ve ever had, it’s not far from it. I would not willingly pay for a meal plan at SJSU. Unfortunately, it was a requirement for the place I live. Yes, the food is edible. Yes, there is a fair amount of variety(at times). However, the quality of the food is just plain terrible. The food lacks flavor. The chicken is 9⁄10 times over cooked and dry. On nights where there is Indian food, the naan bread is stale and greasy. Sometimes(key word, SOMETIMES) there are hidden gems. But it does not make up for the other food. I’ve made suggestions for improvement, but to no avail. At this point, I’m just biding my time until I am no longer tied to my meal plan. My suggestion to those thinking of getting a meal plan(and are not obligated to): DON’T. Maybe you’re lazy, or maybe you’re afraid to cook your own meals. Don’t be. You wil thank yourself later by making your own food. And I’m sure it will save you money, the meal plans are grossly over-priced for the type of food. Ultimately, the only good thing the DC has to offer is the Jamba Juice(which still suffers in comparison to the«real» Jamba).

This place is AWESOME! I don’t usually come here since I don’t have a pass. I have friends who have treated me to lunch here. I am a big eater and like the HUGE selection they have of food. The Food: They have a large mix of breakfast lunch and dinner items. When I visited I started off with a chicken quesadilla. In the«Mexican» food area they offered quesadillas, burritos, and tacos. They offered beef and chicken as your choice of meat. You then have options of black or pinto beans, rice, cheeses and endless guacamole. I downed this meal with some free orange juice and then hit up the pizza area. They have large selections of pizzas available. I went with the veggie and had that with an Italian soda from their bar. I noticed a cereal station, burger area, and coffee bar which I wanted to explore but was too full to eat anymore. The staff: The entire staff is made up of students with the exception of the big bosses. The people working the stations are cool and seemed nice. No problem there. The place itself: The place is kind of big and is clean for the most part. Students don’t leave their dirty plates sitting on the table. Once someone is done they take it to a drop off window where they are cleaned. The only nasty thing I noticed was the carpet in the dining area. It felt like it had not been washed in years and soda was spilt on it year after year. My chair would get stuck from the stickiness. Am I going back: Yes I am. Well, that’s if my friends want to take me there. I’m not sure if I can just pay and go eat there…

This dining commons has gone downhill lately. Their food absolutely sucks. Most of my visits I spend my time wondering what I’m going to eat; not because theres so much variety, but theres literally nothing to eat. Many of my visits i find that they have no food to serve because they«ran out.» One of my worst experiences was when i wanted to eat pizza and found all the pizzas burnt to a crisp… Yum. not! And ontop of that there were no utensils for me to eat with. The workers are students, which means they dont give a shit about the quality of the food; it definetly shows. Even ask one of the workers whats in the food, their most common answer is «Ummmm idk?» Tullys and jamba juice are the only thing that is semi-decent.

The dining commons are so much better now with just the different cuisines available. They’re even expanding it to make it nicer. My favorite thing at the moment is the $ 5 Chicken Ceasar Salad. Plenty of seats and the lines to get food aren’t that bad. Something for everyone. Also, can’t go wrong with a regular mango a g-go from Jamba Juice with a pretzel… mmmm… bangus. out.

There’s pasta, pizza, Mexican food, Asian food, sandwhiches, burgers, sushi at lunch, Tully’s coffee, and Jamba Juice. Jamba Juice always has a long line and is good. Tully’s coffee is good, and now has pastries and even makes pancakes! YUM! The bad part of the DC is that there is rarely something decent to eat. Usually there’s something«mystery lunch like» going on. Also the burgers take a while to cook, so there’s a line/crowd. Sandwhiches are good. Pizza is good to eat once in a while, but it’s not the best. Sushi is the best and is only there between 11am-1pm. At times they serve buffalo wings, but some are spicy so watch out for that. And of course they serve chicken at times for dinner, and there’s a line there. Deserts vary. There’s ice-cream and frozen yogurt, and always are good. The cakes can be dry at times, but sometimes are good. Also, they have cookies, but chocalate chip cookies w/(and w/o) M&Ms are the best and are always popular. Rice Krispies are also good. 3 stars for the food diversity, but lack of decent food on most days.

This review is here for the purpose of having San Jose State students praise or bitch about their local on-campus dining commons. My first visit to these commons happened on my Freshman Orientation at the school. Believe it or not, it was actually the highlight of my day. The cool thing about the Dining Commons is that it pretty much combines every major non-commercialized eatery on campus and brings it all in to one place. So think Quesadilla Corner, the Mexican place, the Chinese place, and all that into one. With that, it’s pretty hard to navigate because random nooks and crannies lead to the disposal area, while others lead to more areas of food, which seem to be separated by both meal category and ethnic category. I think the best time to head to the Dining Commons is in the morning, because of course – breakfast. Breakfast is awesome. You get to eat waffles, bacon, eggs, and all sorts of cool stuff; you don’t get that opportunity later in the day. Of course, not being a resident on campus is sort of what draws me to this place. I know that the menu every day will never change, so that’s probably what’ll give this place some bad reviews. Also considering the fact that the employees here are all students making the bare minimum, and you know… students are stupid. Myself included. But when it comes to the selection, it’s totally awesome. I used to work at the campus bookstore, and working there entitles you to a meal pass that grants you one of two things – you can either eat at the Dining Commons for free, or you can go to any on-campus eatery, flash the pass and only pay $ 2.50 for foods that are up to $ 7. I used this thing to my advantage… I’d be adding guacamole to my burritos, buying 6 cheeseburgers at BK for $ 2.50… anything that allows me to have hella food to bring home and feed my stupid brother works for me. But yeah. This place isn’t too bad.
