Nem N Nem«specializing» in Nem Nuong is using the term pretty lightly. Although, the Nem Nuong is probably the best thing on the menu. I tried the mi xao don thap cam(crispy chow mein with combination of beef, shrimp and calamari) and my boyfriend had the mi do bien(egg noodle soup with seafood). The mi was bland and not very don(crispy) and the beef was very tough and chewy. The Mi Do Bien was more like top ramen and the shrimp had a very fishy taste to it… like it wasn’t fresh. I must say, though, for the nem nuong, though i’ve had better, it’s not too bad… and they provide banh trang(rice paper) that is thick enough and pliable enough so even the most amateur of rollers can make the PERFECT rolls for dipping. Would I go back to this place? Probably not. The Diet Coke was good… it came in a can.

Nem N Nem specializes in it’s namesake, Nem. Nem is finely ground flavored pork, rolled into a small sausage and grilled, and served with romain lettuce, mint greens, veggies, crispy deep fried rice paper rolls, chives, and all rolled into a thin rice paper wrap, then dipped into a mild sauce of fish and peanut flavors. Nem is popular particularly in the southern part of central Vietnam, around Ninh Hoa. Nem N Nem actually offers a variety of Vietnamese dishes. It has about 10 Hu Tieu dishes(noodle soup with chicken and seafood), 10 Bun(vermicelli) dishes, and about 15 broken rice dishes(Com Tam). No Phở dishes, as there are plenty of these restaurants nearby. All of these dishes cost between $ 6 and $ 10, so very affordable. They also have Sinh To bubble shake drinks and a couple of Che desserts. The Nem is actually on the appetizer portion of the menu. 1 order gets you enough for 5 wraps($ 10). You get the round, flat rice paper wraps, that you dip into water to moisten and soften it; lay it on your plate and fill it with Nem, 3 types of mint, lettuce, chives, veggie slices, crispy fried rolls and roll it up like a spring roll(or small burrito), then dip it in the sauce, which you can add fish sauce or chili sauce to taste. Nem N Nem serves beer but no wine and is open until 9 pm weekdays, 10 pm weekends, but sometimes closes early. It is closed on Thursdays. It is in a strip mall at E Capital and Aborn, east of Silver Creek. It is clean with neutral tone décor, has 3 flat screens, 1 showing old Charlie Chaplan films when we were there. It used to be some other restaurant, being Nem N Nem for only about 3 — 4 years, and one of the first in the south bay to specialize in Nem. It is not that well known(yet), so it shouldn’t be a problem getting a table. Bring a friend and have fun rolling and eating your Nem!
