I always stop by this area when in San Jose because I end up around Story for good viet food. Its a good snack/dessert to grab. Their waffles are amazin, always fresh made. The only problem is from the random times I went, they did not have taro. I am not a fan of coconut but the waffle is not bad.

This place is alright. I have had the fresh sugar cane juice(unique and yum) and I’ve had the pandan & taro waffles. My usual spot Vanitea was closed for the weekend and this place has somewhat comparable waffles. I came 30mins before closing, and my waffles were dry and crispy instead of the chewy texture I previously experienced here. They have several types of waffles. Strawberry, taro, banana, pandan. You can’t do ½ and ½(or they didn’t let me order it at least). Tealyfe has waffles too: churro, piña colada, chocolate chip. I didn’t try one but I kind of wish I did.(And they have cute macarons) Anyway, I am looking forward to a hot day and fresh sugar cane juice!

This place had a few people inside when we came in the afternoon. Parking was around the Vietnam Town area so it may or may not be It smelled pretty good inside because there were a few people waiting for their Pandan Waffles. I ordered a pearl milk tea($ 3.50 plus 50 cents for the pearls) and my friends ordered their own drinks like the jasmine milk tea. We waited a few minutes before our drinks were ready. I wasn’t paying attention and actually ended up with my friend’s jasmine milk tea with pearls. That tasted good to me and the pearls were chewy. lol We also ordered a few Pandan Waffles to split. It took a few minutes before they were ready. They tasted good and definitely tasted a lot better when they were fresh. Good place for pearl tea drinks and Pandan Waffles.

So I’m here with my two kids and we do not, by any means, live close to this place. Just my luck, I only have $ 4 cash in my pockets and all the ATM machines are down in the area(btw, they don’t have an ATM in the store so I had to walk to three different stores). The waffles are really good but come on, it’s 2016, who still does«cash only»? Apparently this whole shopping area is mostly cash only so be prepared. Could’ve been 4 stars but minus one for the deep inconvenience.

Omg I LOVE this place!!! The pandas waffles are OUTOFTHISWORLD — the perfect crispness on the outside and a magical chewiness on the inside(from which, I assume, is due to the addition of mochi flour). They make them fresh, but you have to be patient. There are three waffle makes on site, but people order so many at a time that the wait tends to be quite long. The also have lots of different che(Vietnamese dessert drinks), but my favorite drink is the fresh sugar cane juice. You can watch them press fresh sugar cane behind the counter to produce the juice, so you know it’s super fresh! Before discovering this place, my last sugar cane juice was IN Vietnam — drinking it out of a plastic bag with a straw. They serve their sugar cane juice out of cups, but is certainly reminiscent of my days in Vietnam. Be sure to get a stamp card, too — buy 10 drinks, get one free! Too bad they don’t have a stamp card for their waffles…

Their waffles are great! They’re thick, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and have a good amount of flavor. I’ve had the pandan waffles and the strawberry waffles. The strawberry waffles have real strawberry in them :) Their waffles are WAY better than the waffles in the Century bakery. I also liked their mango smoothie! Tasted fresh and not too sweet. I haven’t tried the more traditional Vietnamese drinks yet, but maybe I will next time :)

I am very choosy when it comes to sweet. This place has absolutely the best Vietnamese waffles. I like mine slightly sweet so I can eat a lot without feeling guilty, and this hint of sweetness hits the spot. The waffle is chewy and soft inside but crispy on the outside, similarly to the Korean sesame bread which I love. The sugarcane juice is fresh and naturally sweet having no trace of stale tartness. The dessert, oh thank heavens, they are not overly sweet, just gently sweet and that’s how I like them.

In Vietnam Town, right at the corner closest to Story Road and facing the parking lot shared with Com 90. Easy to find. If you like waffles, you absolutely have to go here and get their pandan green waffles!!! It’s green, it’s weirdly colored, and it’s DELICIOUS!!! They make it thick Belgian waffle style with the perfect crunch on the outside and fluffy sweetness on the inside. I’ve only had the pandan flavor which is my favorite, but I’ve heard taro is good as well. I bet all the flavors are tasty, because it’s the crunchy-yet-soft factor that makes this one of the best places to get waffles in SJ. And only $ 2? Don’t share! Everybody should get their own because whenever I share one, we always end up ordering another one after, and then I have to wait for them to make it again! I’m giving them 4 stars because sometimes they are really busy and it takes a LONG time to get your order. But I can’t be mad because they make the waffles fresh to order. Also because the nuoc mia(fresh sugar cane juice) is good, but I’ve had better. I ask for less ice and it still seems a little watered down.

I came here after Unilocaling for a place in the area that had pandan waffles, because I had a craving. It was cold and windy, these pandan waffles hit the spot SOGOOD. I love the chewy consistency of pandan waffles, when it’s fresh made and hot, with the outside just a bit crispy. $ 2 for a waffle? Yes please!

I’ve onLy been here one other time and it was strictLy just for the fresh sQueezed nuoc mia/sugar cane juice. My fiancé’s friend happened to bring some Vietnamese waffLes to a LittLe shindig they had a few weeks ago and was introduced to the strawberry crêpe– no joke, he hasn’t been abLe to stop taLking about it. Since we were in the mood for some Late night sweets, we finaLLy decided to make the trip out to Vietnam Town and check out the other fLavors Vien Dong had to offer. We puLLed up to a jam packed parking Lot, this pLace is reaLLy crackin on a Friday night(i was shocked!!) We pLaced our order for: –Large Sugar Cane Juice –Banana WaffLe –Durian WaffLe –Taro WaffLe –BLueberry WaffLe & –Strawberry WaffLe Each Vietnamese waffLe is made to order and at $ 2/WaffLe– it’s a steaL! These are BeLgium-styLe so they are Larger in size/thickness as opposed to the standard American waffLes that other bakeries are sheLLing out @ $ 1.25−1.50/ a piece. As an added bonus, these deLicious goodies contain chunks of reaL fruit. Y U M! Vien Dong is the onLy Location that I’m aware of, seLLiing a huge variety in fLavors beyond the typicaL Pandan and Durian. Whats there not to Love peopLe?!! I wiLL definiteLy be returning!

Despite always coming here after being stuffed by dinner or something else, I can’t help myself from scarfing down the waffles and chugging the sugarcane drink. My girlfriend’s family brought me here and they have spoiled me with it. The sugarcane drink is refreshing and citrusy, and HUGE! It’s become my favorite drink this summer. They tell me it’s somehow better in Vietnam, but this is pretty friggin’ good so I can’t comprehend or even imagine how amazing it must taste there. The waffles are HUGE! It’s a simple dessert, but a memorable one. Throughout the past year or so I’ve had pandan, durian, taro, banana, and probably other ones too. The banana one is probably my favorite since it’s flavor is stronger and more prevalent in the waffle than the other ones. All in all, a good place after lunch/dinner to convince your stomach there is room for more.

LOVE this place!!! The waffles and milk tea drinks are great! Located in the Vietnam town of San Jose, parking is not difficult if you arrive at a decent hour. The waffles are made fresh, although they do leave the batter out for some reason? Never figured that one out… TV’s and plenty of seating available, restrooms are also located inside the place.

Snuck in right as they were closing. Got a classic small sugar cane drink. It’s been 80 degrees F even at night, so it’s been a good refreshing beverage for the heat. Not too sweet, good flavor and a quick counter to summer nights

Oh shit! LEGIT sugarcane juice! Not like those diluted and super watered down juice! I love me some fresh squeeze sugarcane juice. I rarely go to San Jose, so I had to make a quick stop here after dinner. I love how this place is closed late. You can grab a drink/dessert after dinner or pick up half a gallon for nuoc mia for your freezer. There are many items to choose from the menu. Of course, sugarcane juice would be first on the menu. They also sell different kinds of rau mai(pennyworth) and other smoothies/Vietnamese desserts. Waffles! Waffles! On the menu. You get to choose pandan, durian or taro. Surprisingly, I haven’t tried durian ever in my life. I was feeling somewhat adventurous, but I decided to play it safe and picked the pandan waffle. After I got my order of pandan waffle, I was browsing through Unilocal and saw pictures of half and half of waffles. I should’ve have both pandan and durian! Oh well, there’s always next time. This might be the best pandan waffle I’ve had in America! Chewy, with a good amount of fluffiness. With the pandan waffle, I also ordered a small size of sugarcane juice. I was torn between medium and small size. Went with the small because I didn’t want to be bouncing off the walls at night with all the natural sugar intake. The guy at the register was nice enough to customize my sugarcane juice — I requested for less ice. Because typically at Vietnamese restaurants, you get a whole lot of ice and barely of the drink! There is outdoor and indoor seating which is great. Sitting outside on a warm night, sipping on some sugarcane juice and munching on some waffle is the best way to end the night!

The bakery air hits you hard when you walk in! One whiff of it and you’ll be good to go. Kidding, you should probably stay for the waffles. My coworkers and I tried the pandan and taro waffles. We weren’t aware that they offered more flavors but apparently durian and strawberry are options as well! To be honest, I couldn’t really taste the taro flavor. I did appreciate that the waffles were hot off the press and were very fluffy and thick though! This is probably the best place to get fresh green waffles in the SJ area. A big drawback is the wait time. It wasn’t crowded but we waited around 20 minutes for our order. It’s a pretty easy flaw to fix so I hope they’ll improve upon it.

I have been here several times and this place never disappoints me! This is an excellent Vietnamese dessert place. My recent visit was yesterday, Memorial Day. It was packed but the wait was not too long since there were at least 5 employees working all together. I ordered the Avacado Che’(i think that’s what it is called. sorry, I don’t speak viet!), Pandan Waffle, and sugar cane juice. I ALWAYS get the avocado drink. I highly recommend it if you are an avocado lover. For those who don’t like the taste of avocado, you can’t really taste the bare avocado taste. Not really sure how to explain it but just try it anyways! For those who haven’t had this before, you are suppose to smash the shaved ice on top with the spoon and mix it in your drink, The waffles are always at the perfect crisp. You can taste the bits of coconut that makes it taste more fresh. For the sugar cane juice, you can see that it is freshly squeezed from their sugar cane juice machine in the back. For these 3 items, it was $ 10.50 which is average price compared to other places. Overall, everything tasted really fresh and this would always be my go-to place for viet desserts =)

If this were near where I work or my house, I’d be here often. Alas, it is neither of those. I got a pandan waffle and it was AWESOME. I also want to try the taro one; I bet it’s equally awesome. The outside was crispy and the inside was gooey; consistency was great. The only improvement is that the flavor could be stronger, but I’m glad it’s not too sweet. It’s pretty light and great for a snack. I’m glad I found a good pandan waffle place! I really like pandan, and I really like waffles. Anyway, good quality and quantity; each waffle’s only $ 2 including tax! Everything else looked pretty expensive though, especially the che(and with Bambu around the corner, I don’t know whether I’d venture out to try the che here). Come try the waffles though! [edit 4/12/15] I just tried a taro waffle. It’s no good. No taro flavor at all! It’s still crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside, but no flavor at all! So disappointing. I guess I’ll be sticking with the pandan waffle!

Stumbled upon this place and glad we stopped in. The waffles here are $ 2 and so worth it. Fluffy in the inside and crisp on the out. Most places sell their waffles kind of soggy. I think the crisp exterior is due to their more expensive waffle machine… Sugar cane juice is made to order. They shove the sugar canes there a machine press and out come delicious fresh juice.

TWOWORDS: TAROWAFFLES! A game ender to the waffle game! If you’re familiar with pandan waffles and love those, trust me, you’ll love these too! I was out with my sister’s and cousin’s families, when my pregnant sister had a craving for taro waffles and knew they had them in the Vietnam Town. We all to a quick strike to Nuoc Mia Vien Dong 2 to sample and finally taste the taro waffle! These waffles were crunchy on the outside, but soft and chewy in the inside, with the taro flavoring! No toppings were necessary with these waffles! I need to come back here for these bad boys! And you should too if you want your taste buds in waffle euphoria!

If you’re in Vietnam Town, get your pandan waffles from here! They’re $ 0.50 more than Century Bakery’s pandan waffles, but well worth it. The waffles are bigger and fluffier, and they’re actually crispy on the outside rather than soggy like Century Bakery’s. They’re also made hot and fresh, so you’ll have to wait a few minutes for it to come out. After cooking in the iron, they take the time to cool it off in front of a fan to make sure it crisps to perfection rather than immediately putting it in a bag to get soggy. They definitely get the little details right! Bonus points for the free wifi and ample seating inside and outside of the store. Cash only, so make sure you’ve got some bills. I’m excited to come back here the next time I’m in San Jose!
