Was here on election night to support Madison Nguyen in her bid for state assembly. The restaurant was spacious with a large outside patio. Parking though was difficult. Maybe it was because it was election night but the parking lot wasn’t big. Some of the parking spaces belonged to Taco Bell. The food was good. There were soy sauce chicken and chicken wings. The fried rice and sticky rice were good. They also served vegetable curry that was delicious. The egg rolls weren’t warm enough but still good. The bathroom was a mess but that may be because of election night as well. Paper towel was all over the floor. I might come back here to try some their food again.

5÷30÷16: I think I’m between 3 and 4 stars here. I only had a chance to try 2 dishes here, and reading all the rave reviews of their soup makes me think that I didn’t try their best items yet, probably their specialty being the«phở ga» or chicken phở. But the stuff I did have was good, though not particularly impressive in themselves… 1. Canh Ga Chien Nuoc Mam(Regular) $ 7.95 «fried chicken with fish sauce»: Asians do love their fried chicken wings. Korean, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and apparently even Vietnamese. But I’d have to say I think they could do better with this one. I mean, it’s fine, nothing wrong. But the wings just weren’t that juicy or meaty, and though there’s plenty of marinade it just tastes a bit simple, like Americanized sweet & sour. Anyway, average tasting to me. 5⁄10 I did come with a Vietnamese friend though who took it upon himself to order for me, and spoke in Vietnamese to the waiter, so I wasn’t quite sure the exact item he ordered. My best guess was that he got for me the«tender chicken thighs» but it could have also been Xoi Siu Siu Dac Biet«combination chicken» since what I was given was a whole leg, not just thighs. But looking at everyone else’s pics, I don’t see any of literally just thighs, so I’m guessing the«combination» must refer to dark plus white meat or something like that. Anyway… 2. Xoi Dui Ga Siu Siu? $ 8.95 «tender chicken thighs served with sticky rice»: It’s Chinese Hainan Chicken!, but with sticky rice instead! Ha ha it’s funny, since moving up here 2 years ago I’ve been craving Hainan Chicken which almost all the SoCal Chinese cafes have, but apparently isn’t so big up here. I even had my gf cook me some last month. But now I found it, but at a Vietnamese restaurant! Awesome. Anyway, as the description says, it is indeed«tender.» If you’ve never had this, it’s steamed chicken, and it’s delicious. They put all the chicken on top of a bed of sticky rice which has a little flavoring and some toppings added. Well, the chicken was perfect, though it normally is at the Chinese places too, so not particularly astounding, but I liked it. I can’t tell if they used any special chicken, but the most fancy Hainan places will use«wild» chicken that has a firmer meat and skin, which tastes even better. But those would be particularly special, and the chicken is fine here as is. 7.5÷10 Can’t wait to come back to try me some Phở Ga! #vietnamese #phoga #phở #hainanchicken

I’ve got a thing for sticky rice and this is where I go to get my fix! Sticky rice, fried garlic on top, all topped with fresh chicken. I’d go here more often if I lived closer. I’ll be making a point to stop by more often.

I ate here twice yesterday, in the morning I order Banh Canh, it was so good, I like the flavour of the soup soooooo muchhhhh, organic chicken tasted ao good even though it was a little bit medium rare while I like my chicken should be well-done. But in general it was a 3.5÷5 Since I like the soup so much that’s the reason why I came back here for a dinner. This time I order Com Ga Siu Siu, with a soup on a side of Young Egg, the soup still taste so good but to be honest I don’t like the rice in here, it smell pretty old, might be almost turn bad and it was so bland, feel like I was eating some kind of weird rice but the chicken still good, the sauce should be more sweet and less salty, hut kimcho was alright and very crispy, and the meat, yeah medium-rare, in overall 3⁄5 I will comeback but mostly for the soup not the rice

If I’m ever in this plaza, I am for sure, hands down next door at Bun Bo Hue An Nam. So it broke my heart that I saw them but I was entering a different restaurant. I was craving some Hainan Chicken and my boyfriend suggested this place. He said he came here with his friend once and had some good chicken and rice. So sure I decided to give it a go. But from the beginning to the end, I found everything mediocre. We came in and was seated. They asked us 2 mins after we sat down if we were ready to place our order. I wasn’t sure which chicken and rice plate to go with so we asked for some extra time. So I guess extra time meant never coming back. We waited for about 8 minutes before we flagged a waitress down. Also, I saw everyone got napkins when they sat down or when their order was taken. We didn’t get any and I had to ask. This is very minor but I decided notate it. We ordered BBQ chicken wings off the appetizer section and #6 — Combination Chicken with Seasoned Rice. I added Kim chi to my order. The chicken and rice came out within 5 mins of placing it. That was nice, however, the rice was loose and underwhelming. It didn’t feel satisfying at all to eat since it was missing the«bite» — chewy texture most rice has. Also, the chicken was cold and flavorless. The sauce was fine, but i feel like overall, i had better chicken and rice plates. The BBQ chicken wings came out with this green sauce. It did have a smoky flavor and was tender. But the wings didn’t have much meat on them. I just didn’t feel the wings justified the price for about 8 pieces of tiny wings. Overall, I don’t see myself really ever coming back to this place unless someone really wanted it. Or maybe I will try their noodle dishes instead.

Similar to most comments on the board, our group of 10 originally wanted to go to Bun Bo, but they had a limited menu so we decided to check out what’s next door instead. Our group order a variety of rice, vermicelli, and phở items. The eggs rolls(the fried ones) were above expectation; came out nice and hot, and the portion had 4 huge rolls. I ordered Rotisserie chicken with burnt sticky rice; presented very nicely on banana leaves with a bamboo plate. The chicken was well-seasoned but the cuts of the chicken were mediocre at best. The rice was burnt and sticky all right, but I didn’t expect the whole plate of rice to be so hard to chew. An overall decent plate. As for phở, nothing too outstanding, but the portions were huge and great for its price! Given the location in Little Vietnam, I would check out many other phở places before coming back again.

Came here to try it out and get a bowl of phở! Walked in and it reeked of fish… such a turn off. We went ahead and ordered anyway because we were starving… The server was friendly and the service was quick but there was a green worm in one of our orders of phở that was alive! So disgusting! Will not be returning.

My grandma used to make me phở ga with the little balls of eggs in it. Now that I dont see her anymore it makes me happy that I can find a place that makes banh canh just as yummy as hers! Can someone confirm whether or not the bbh is from bbh an nam? My bf says its not the same but it looks identical! I only come for the phở ga… Wish they had the eggs more often, so dock one star for not having them.

Honestly, one of the best phở places in the South Bay. Haven’t been here in a while and it’s nice to see that they updated some things and finally are accepting card. Plus this place is always so clean. The broth is so delicious and the meat is always so tender. The service is so so friendly and the food always comes out so quick. I definitely recommend checking this place out!

This place in my opinion is pretty good! Service was nice and friendly to my family. The wait for the food was pretty long but it was worth it and not worth it. My dad’s food came out first and it took about 10 minutes. The broth was a little salty so afterwards my throat became dry. My moms food came out afterwards and it was seriously worth it. The rice was overlooked so that it was hard but soft at the same time. The chicken was golden and cooked well. That was the Soi Ga Roti. They took a little long on my avocado smoothie, which came out halfway through the meal. Overall this place is pretty good! I recommend coming here! The owner is pretty nice too! Coming here again soon!

Only came here because Bun Bo Hue An Nam next door was closed. By San Jose standards the food here is really weak. Tried their signature phở ga($ 9). Mild broth with rubbery flavorless chicken that was a little under cooked. Mines came with gizzards and livers and all that good stuff but overall it just didn’t taste like a quality made dish. Expected more, especially since we’re on Story. Chicken wings were OK. crispy, sticky, fish sauce-y, chicken wasn’t juicy on the inside.

I ordered the chicken vermicelli soup(mien ga) the other day. Everything tasted fine until I was almost done with my dish. I wondered what was going on. Upon further inspection I noticed these looked like dead maggots. My friend sitting opposite me that had already started to scoff down his lunch was instantly sick into a tissue. I scooped up the dead maggots into my spoon and called the waitress over to show her. She, without concern or apology for the offending maggot, looked at them and said these were just dried peppers. Hell! I’ve had dried peppers before and I’ve seen what maggots look like. These dead maggots did not look anything remotely similar to dried peppers. Also, maggots don’t just grow from vegetables! They probably left the raw meat outside without covers and let them nasty flies invade. This place is filthy and really needs to clean up their act. Please think about your health and don’t eat here! There are plenty of equally well situated places with great staff and really tasty maggot-less noodle soup! This just goes to show… the early bird doesnt always catch the worm!

Arrived early at 11 and it was pretty empty. Ordered the phở ga with a side of bo vien. They couldn’t add just a few balls in my soup so they made a whole soup with just bo vien in it. The phở ga was just ok. Broth was on the bland side. Plenty of noodles and average amount of ga. P. s. Apparently they are no longer affiliated with the bun bo hue place next door.

Solid Phở joint in San Jose. The bun bo hue was good but the highlight of the show was their ga hai nam rice plate. Super delish. came here for me and mommy time and it was amazing. i would highly recommend the ga hai nam. In fact i came back the follow day for another plate.

I have been coming here for a long time now because their Xoi Ga Roti is delicious! However this time, as I was devouring my food, I noticed something out of the ordinary. After a close inspection, I realized that there was a LARGEINSECT /BUG in my food. So disgusting! My boyfriend and I were appalled, so we told the lady at the cashier what happened. Without even having to check out if we were correct or not, she just nonchalantly told us that she wasn’t going to charge us for that dish and apologized. Although that was a fair gesture, I will definitely not be coming back and I advise you not to either unless you enjoy that little extra piece of protein in your meal!!!

I’ve heard such great things about this place and was so excited to finally try it! Came in on a Saturday at 11:00AM and luckily there was no wait! I ordered the Chicken Banh Canh and it was delicious! The broth was so flavorful and light and tastes a lot healthier than beef phở. The udon noodles were cooked to perfection and had a nice texture. And they also gave a generous amount of chicken pieces which was fantastic! My boyfriend also had a bowl of the Chicken Phở and it definitely helped cure his hangover! I will definitely be coming back soon to try their Hainan Chicken dishes. Luckily this place is close to my house! :)

Not bad, not great. Ordered their version of shaking beef and it was a lot sweeter than I’d like. Portion size is pretty big though. My order was $ 11 and came with red rice(interesting and had a cool flavor to it, but I’m not sure exactly what made it red), salad, soup and a decent portion of beef & bell peppers & onions. Maybe I should order chicken from a place that has chicken in their name. Maybe next time, but I’d rather go to Bun Bo Hue next door.

Hmm, probably should’ve stuck with my gut instinct and went to Bun Bo Hue An Nam next door instead. The service was mediocre and unfortunately accurately represented the food we ate as well. We ordered a variety of their phở ga since that’s what they’re known for. I personally tried the mien ga(thigh portion) because I like glass noodles but it was just alright, nothing really stood out except the chicken was tender though. I would’ve given three stars because it really is ‘A-OK,’ but what wasn’t so okay is the fact that we found some bug/creature wrapped inside our spring rolls. Disgusting. They took that item off our bill, but still. the damage cannot be undone. People usually come here when Bun Bo Hue An Nam has an overload of customers, but honestly, the two aren’t even comparable as they’re recognized for different items. And just my two cents but I would rather withstand the wait than to settle for less.

Came by for a light dinner the other night and it was a mediocre experience. The restaurant was surprisingly empty on a Saturday evening. Business has been slowing down for the last couple of years. Ordered the large clear vermicelli w/Chicken Thighs. The broth wasn’t as flavorful as before. Portions were large and the chicken was decent. ~$ 10/person after tax and tip for dinner. Cash only.

Everything I tried here has been good especially if you are a clear noodle(mien) lover ! I ordered the mien ga dac biet ! That was so yummy. This is the only place that I know so far in San Jose that serves good mien ga !!! 5⁄5 My grandma ordered the seafood dry style mien ! It was stir fried and had crab and other things in it! It was good but you def need to ask for this special fish sauce that they have to put over it to make it taste better. Without the sauce 3.8÷5. With the sauce 4.5÷5(yes that that certain fish sauce made it better) My grandpa had a rice plate. It was called hai nam? Idk but it was garlic rice with chicken ! Something so simple but yet so good! It came with a broth too to wash the rice down while you eat! This was 5⁄5 Service was meh. Felt like they were kinda rude. Maybe because they weren’t smiling and just mugging or tired? Who knows but no matter, one always have to be happy and smile to promote a good business! when I asked for something they gave it immediately. 2.5÷5 I want to come back here to try the other dishes like the rice plates and noodle doubles(canh) so far the food is good! If I could I would give this place 5⁄5 for the food. But because of the service this place gets a 4⁄5 star !
