Hands down the best Caesar salad I’ve ever had. The dressing is tangy, garlicky, and overall delicious! I always opt for the side salad(main salad is better suited for 2) and pick 7 toppings. All of their toppings are always assorted nicely and you can tell that they’re super fresh. They have a nice assortment which is must appreciated. I always try and switch up at least a couple toppings in my salad every time I come in. Also, their focaccia bread is always soft! I always describe Pluto’s as a salad + sandwhich place, but they also have them Thanksgiving sides. Mashed potatoes, green beans, mac ‘n cheese, you name it! You should also try the garlic fries with extra garlic! After you purchase your food keep in mind that the silverware and napkins are right behind you in a station. This is my favorite salad place and I only wish I lived closer!

I love the fact that you can customize your food here. I always get the steak salad and they give you so many options for toppings. The place is very spacious and clean. And the desserts are super yummy!

Confusing ways to order your food. There’s a salad line, a sandwich line, and a paying line. Everyone seemed to be lining up for the salads. When our group lined up for the sandwiches, nobody behind the counter seemed to want to help us take our order, or even know that we existed. Then the salad line died and the salad worker came to the sandwich line and asked if we’ve been helped. Very inefficient. Didn’t really enjoy their sandwiches. Guess that’s why the salad line was long?

Mozzarella moon sandwiche pretty small compared to sausage sandwiche when they’re the same price. wtf? What you do is: look at the menu(if needed) Order at station. You get a carbon copy ticket after. Bring ticket to cashier then pay. No hot drinks available btw. Mozzarella moon is basically a caprese sandwiche. I don’t understand how they can call it a different name! Pluto’s serves simple salads, meat dishes and sandwiches. Should’ve gone to veggie grill… little more expensive, but better food. Bf’s sausage sandwich or my sandwich wasn’t anything spectacular like ike’s. I didn’t even notice or taste any of the spreads because that’s how bad it is. On the plus side, you can chipotle style your salad and none of the foods are doused in sauce making it just a little healthier… BUT I’d still much rather eat at veggie grill.

Best place on Santana Row to get a meal for under $ 10. Sometimes you gotta keep an eye on the salad maker. There’s one who forgets a few key ingredients in their pre-built salads every time, but overall, everyone’s super nice and helpful, it’s fresh and consistent.

My go-to lunch place at Santana Row! Decent pricing for good portions and fresh food! I usually get a full sized salad with a side of their delicious sweet potato fries *_* The selection for their salads is AWESOME! so many different toppings. You basically choose your base(I usually get the Farmer’s blend), a slice of bread, 7 toppings, and a dressing! For me this is a pretty big portion so I usually split with my sister. They also offer many different types of sandwiches and sides as well, but my fave is def sweet potato fries.

I was going to give them a three star review but their location at Santana Row pushed them up to four :) Yesterday was a bit blustery but still a nice day to walk around and when it came time for lunch Pluto’s is a healthy alternative, or at least it can be if you skip the gravy and the mac and cheese! There is outdoor seating which is on the edge of a small courtyard area where there is usually some sort of activity going on in the spring, summer and weekends. It’s also next to the gym so you can go work off your lunch! On my last visit I was disappointed with the turkey as it was somewhat dry. However they made up for it yesterday. It was moist and tasted great. Of course a dose of gravy always makes me happy. I added some«smashed«potatoes with gravy, yes I love gravy, and a side of butternut squash. One of my daughters also had the turkey, spuds and squash, but couldn’t eat it all, the portions are quite large! My other daughter is a vegetarian and went to the salad bar where you basically build your own. It’s always a healthy choice for those wanting to avoid the fat, carbs etc… When you walk in be sure to grab a menu prior to going to the sandwich and hot meal counter so you know what you want to order. I’ve been here when the weather was nicer and the lunch line can get quite long. But yesterday we walked right up and they took our order immediately. They also serve beer, wine, soda, bottled and tap water. It’s a great place to eat and take a break from your Santana Row shopping. They have quite a large eating area inside that includes a couple of tables that will set 8 plus people if you have a group!

Customer service is terrible here. I told the guy that it was my first time at Pluto’s and I needed time to see what I wanted to get. He was very impatient, irritated, and unfriendly the entire time. When I took longer than five seconds to choose a topping, he would act annoyed and put the bowl down. I felt pressured to order quickly even though no one was in line. Also, I ordered a main salad and he put it on a side salad plate and charged me for a main salad. The salad wasn’t special and I felt like I could’ve made a better one myself at Sweet Tomatoes or Fresh Choice. My cousin got beef on her salad and she said it was very chewy and dry.

This is a very mixed review. While I loved my salad and was happy with the quality, size and price, I was not happy with the customer service. I had been standing in line for a fair amount of time considering how busy the place was. The salad staff was doing their best to keep up with the crowd, and I appreciated it. However, my best friend went straight to the sandwich non — line and could not get any acknowledgment from the girl taking people’s orders. I heard her try and get the girls attention multiple times to no avail. The employee looked at her and just went back to what she was doing without even trying to help the situation. Coming from a customer service background this makes me very uneasy, especially since all she wanted to do was eat before our big day! Needless to say, I don’t think she will ever return.

If you find yourself looking for a nice, quality meal near Santana row but don’t have the time and sit for a few hours or more, this Pluto’s location is highly recommended. As Pluto’s offers made to-to-order items with fresh ingredients, it is one of the few places where you don’t have to massively sacrifice quality in order to get food without sitting down and burning two hours. As a SF native I’ve comes across Plutos many times in the past, but it had certainly been a while. Therefore when I saw a location in San Jose, I jumped at the opportunity to rekindle an old flame. I was not disappointed. After a week of burritos, burgers and wings, I was happy to be able to load up gourmet salad with a wide array of veggies and fresh chicken hot off the grill. In one quick swoop I was infused with nutrients that my diet had sorely been lacking. As one of the only places in Santana Row where you can get a relatively quick and painless takeout meal, I’d highly recommend it to any business travelers working in the area as well as anyone looking for quick food fix after a long day. Enjoy!

First time coming to this location. Not that busy on a Friday night in addition to fast and quick service. Salads are always huge, sweet potato fries on point, and mac and cheese to die for. Celestial sandwiches are my favorite — loved the taste of the grilled chicken.

This is my third time at this plutos and it’s been great! I always get a side salad with extra steak, and when I’m feeling bold I also go for the Mac & cheese! 4 stars, I wish the cashiers were more friendly

My post-workout lunch ritual. I’m here more often than not. Food: Obviously this doesn’t change too much, you are the main factor when building your own salad. However, I feel like they have more ingredients to chose from. Everything is always fresh and fully stocked, so they don’t skimp when adding your seven ingredients. The bread that comes with the salad is always super fresh too. So many options from protein, fresh veggies to grilled/sauteed veggies, various beans and nuts as well. They also have a wide variety of salad dressings and if you’re not sure which one you want, feel free to ask them for a sample! I won’t comment too much on the sammies, considering I’ve only had the turkey in flight. It was a bit too dry for me and not as tasty, so I stick to building my own salad. Ambiance: Located in a very busy shopping/food area, this place is always packed… the line may stretch out the door, but the inside is extremely spacious and seating is not limited at all. The line flows quickly and although it’s loud inside, you are still able to hold conversations and socialize with your peeps! Price: Affordable for the quality and serving size. Disclaimer: I usually come here after a good workout, so my appetite is quite large, however the side salad is more than enough(take a look at my photos). Service: Great customer service from the person making my salad to the person ringing me up! I always tell them I’m going to go over(my salad has 9 ingredients) and not once have they charged me extra… I hope my review doesn’t ruin that for me. Overall: With so many ingredients to chose from, large servings, and great service… it’s really hard not to love Pluto’s.

I’m new to Unilocal so I have very few check ins here as of now but believe me, I’ve been here more than once. Pro tip in three words: SWEETPOTATOFRIES. Well seasoned and accompanied with some sort of sauce? I don’t even know what it is but it’s not disappointing at all(my sister says it might be some kind of aioli sauce but I don’t know I just know it’s good and makes me weak every time). Salads: You get to make your own salad so really if you don’t like your salad the blood is on your hands. I personally don’t get their house salads because I want my money’s worth when I go places so I make what I like. Their breads are so good here as well(which accompanies your salad)! My go to is the focaccia — soft, moist, delicious. I could, would, and probably should eat buckets of it. That’s the way I want to go down. Sandwiches: The only time I got a sandwich, I got the Mozzarella Moon because of religious reasons. It didn’t resonate in me at all … I don’t recall expecting anything and that was a good call on my part because it was just two slabs of mozzarella on pesto bread. Most likely won’t be getting that again, but would recommend it to mozzarella lovers. Sides: sweet potato fries(refer to opening sentences up top ^) Other: This place is so clean and spacious! You could work/read/etc. here if you wanted — they have a seating area towards the back that’s generally really quiet. I don’t see many people come in with large crowds so you should be good if you wanted an afternoon to yourself for winding down.

At first glance this place looked pretty good. At least it’s cheaper than just about every other eatery in Santana Row. They have a decently-sized and varied menu. Most people should be able to find something they like here, and it trends toward the healthier side. But, never having been here before, the ordering and paying process seemed a little unorganized. I ordered a sandwich from the person at the appropriate station, and was given a ticket showing what I ordered and my number. Great. For some reason, not only did my order take way longer than many other orders placed after mine, but it was not clear to me whether or I should be paying before or after I pick up my food. Apparently I wasn’t the only person not exactly sure of how things were supposed to work. Lastly, I was pretty dissatisfied with how much meat and optional ingredients they put in the sandwiches. It was pointless paying more money for the little amount they give. The side order portion sizes were decent, at least.

FOOD — I tried to make healthier choices this time and went with spinach, lettuce, and mixed greens as a base and added broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, mushrooms, tomatoes, strawberries, and soybeans/sunflower seeds. I added grilled onions. My dressing choice this time around was balsamic vinegar. The salad was good. I liked the extra crunch from the soybeans. 4.5÷5 — Creamed mushroom and spinach: not as tasty as it looks. 3⁄5 FINALTHOUGHTS The person who made my salad was friendly and patient while I decided what I wanted in my salad. 4⁄5

Their sweet potato fries are my one true love. They’re cut to be just the right size, then perfectly fried, and served with the most amazing sauce. Everything I’ve tried here is just so good. The endless toppings in their salad bar means you can create the salad of your dreams, tossed and served with a side of bread of your choice. Portions are huge and are super affordable too. Sandwiches are completely customizable, or you can order off their menu of specials, and all the ingredients have their own distinct flavor but never overpower each other. My favorite is the grilled chicken breast on sourdough with balsamic onions, tomato, lettuce, and garlic mayo. UGH so good and just the right size. I love coming here not just because of the food, but also because there’s never really a super long wait, unlike all the other restaurants at Santana Row. Pluto’s is the perfect spot for a quick sit-down lunch in the middle of a shopping trip. Love love love!

Located in Santana Row in the same area where Maggiano’s and the Counter are located. This place reminds me of a cafeteria to an extent because you go in and choose what you want then pay, they call your number and you pick it up. This is my second time here and it was still pretty good. Their sweet potato fries are scrumptious, different from many other places due to their seasoning and sauce with a hickory taste to it. The salads are huge! They taste super fresh and you can watch them make it as well. They have some on the menu for you to choose from or else you can create your own. The mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy, not dry and doesn’t sit heavy either. Their sandwiches are good, the sourdough is a little on the rougher side, but still decent. What I like is that they didn’t put a lot of sauce on the sandwich so the meat(we ordered tri-tip) was tasted for its natural flavor. Not bad might I add. Definitely a great place to try, it’s just not the best of the best out their either.

I decided to check out Pluto’s here because the Pluto’s up in Davis is really good. I’m slightly disappointed, but its still decent. I usually go for the salads, which were really fresh up at the Davis Pluto’s, but the salad here just wasn’t very fresh. My 7 go to salad ingredients are usually red bell pepper, red onion, pineapple, bean sprouts, mushrooms, strawberries, and walnuts over romaine lettuce and focaccia bread for a good balance of texture and flavor. Focaccia bread never goes out warm so don’t expect it. It also has a rough feel to it; just not that fresh. Same goes for their greens like I mentioned. I also ordered sweet potato fries, which came out a lot later than the salad because they have to prepare it. I never heard my number called for the potatoes so it was just sitting out by the register and I never would have received it had I not asked for it. Ask for a glass and you can get self serve water in the back, along with utensils and Plutos is a great place if you’re feeling a lighter and healthier meal! I just wish they used fresher ingredients, but maybe I’m just spoiled by Davis Plutos.
