This was our second visit to Ringer Hut, each time having the Champon. We each ordered a regular sized Champon with Gyoza(6 pieces) for $ 12.95 each. You receive a huge bowl containing a very good broth, with lots of noodles and seafood. My wife also ordered the iced green tea($ 2.50), which was lime green in color and served in a very interesting tall tapering glass. The Champon is very tasty. However, this time, the broth seemed more salty than it was on our first visit.(I deducted 1 star since the taste was variable between two visits; it was better with less salt). The service is very quick once your order is taken. Within a few minutes the Gyoza were served and then the Champon was served a few minutes after that. On a previous visit, there was a bit of a wait, but yesterday evening(Saturday around 8pm) there was no wait and we were seated immediately.

Looove this place. I’m Japanese. This place is like a family restaurant but taste really good. This is not ramen place but champon place. Champon is Nagasaki prefecture in Japan’s traditional and famous food. Similar to ramen but the soup is seafood taste and a lot of veggies on top of noodle. It’s same as Japanese ringer hut taste. It reminds me of Japan. This place is good for champon and also fried rice. I think this fried rice is the best in the world. I usually order the set of half champon and half fried rice. You must order this. Sometimes only fried rice. Please please try fried rice here. I bet you like it!

Food is terrible. No wonder Ringer hut in Japan does not do well… Service was good. I had champon and Katsu curry. If they sell those in Japan, I’m pretty sure they would not be able to survive. The place is old and needs to be remodeled. Their standards are low and if you are okey with so-so Japanese food, this is the place you should go.

Let’s start off with a little bit of history on Ringer Hut, Ringer Hut is a Japanese chain from Japan, so if your kind of a ramen snob you might dismiss this place. But you’d be missing out, what Ringer hut lacks in menu variety and creativity it offers unique alternatives that you can’t get at lest say certain Ramen places that are a 5 – 10 minute drive away. The Champon noodles are a nice alternative to Ramen, and they have other noodle variety options, not just Ramen. But that being said because they do have a diverse menu, their ramen debatable can’t go toe to toe with other Ramen joints in the same area. But something that Ringer hut does and has always done well is their portions. The amount of meat they give is enough to to make up for it’s short coming. Overall if your craving. Ramen Ringer Hut can get the job done, but it’s nothing really to write home about.

Where do I begin? How BOMB the food was or how AMAZING the customer service was? So I walked into Ringer Hut and this guy named Kelly welcomed me, like how Lil Jon does. As he was showing us to our table, he asked me about my day so I went on and told him about how I spent it in Santa Cruz being extremely thirsty as I left my water bottle in a store :( Immediately two minutes later, Kelly comes out with multiple cups of water knowing that I have been in a drought. Talk about some listening skills!!! I have ordered the Spicy Champon while my friend ordered the Tonkatsu Curry! Man, was the champon muy caliente or what! The noodles were cooked to perfection, soup was at the right temperature, while the toppings made it fresh like Dr. Fresch. I had a quick bite to sample the Tonkatsu Curry; the meat was succulent & crispy… dang… talking about it makes me want to go again so I will probably be heading back very soon. Overall, the price is good, food is great, customer service is outstanding. Can’t believe it took be so long to try this place out even though it was in my local area. Talk about some good food, hood food.

Personally, champon style ramen just isn’t my cup of tea, but others do seem to enjoy it. The champon does come with a lot of vegetables and as a hearty portion size, so if you enjoy extra toppings or want lots of noodles, it might be a fit for you. I do enjoy their chicken donburi(teriyaki chicken over rice) and often get the mini-sized one as a side to someone else’s champon so that its $ 5 instead of the $ 5.50 as an individual order. Good portion size there too. Their yakisoba is pretty good too and a decent portion size for $ 8.75. The desserts are alright, but way overpriced, so I would stick to the regular menu to get the most bang for your buck. Service is pretty good, but they seem to always be busy regardless of time of day. Thankfully we only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated when we arrived around 12:30pm or so. Overall, decent food and service and pretty affordable. While it’s not for me, I would recommend giving the Nagasaki-style champon a try if you have never had it before. You never know if it’ll surprise you :)

You definitely get your money’s worth with the combo. The place has somewhat of a diner type feel. I ordered the champon gyoza combo and was pleasantly surprised. The only thing is, the broth is only okay. They do give hella in the soup, but the broth isn’t rich by any means. I feel as though that’s a big deal for a bowl of ramen. I did enjoy the soup, but for the same price I can get a better bowl of ramen. However, I will most likely be coming back. If I’m super hungry.

I love this place. I come here almost every time I go to San Jose because I have been coming here for years eating their ramen. They have very polite and fun wait staff. The food is very good as well. I always get the shoyu or chashu ramen and it never disappoints. The broth has a great taste and very flavorful. I ordered the shoyu ramen this time and it was fantastic. Surprisingly, the ramen came out in a very quick fashion… I order my food and maybe two or three minutes later the ramen came to be devoured. Despite this, the reason why I give this place four instead of five stars is because my girlfriend ordered the tuna tarutaru(I think that is what it is called) app and it was very good, but the avocado on the bottom of the app was oxidized and looked a bit old. Not really a big deal, cause it wasn’t moldy and the GF liked the dish. I don’t know how old the avocado was, but its not very professional.

I love their food! Also it’s so convenient that they open all day 7 days. When you are in the middle of a Sunday afternoon and having a hard time looking for a restaurant that opens, this is a perfect place. I recommend the soba noodle soup with chicken, champon ramen and yakimeshi.

I had the spicy champon — I will describe ramen here is more like the homemade ramen, which is different feeling if compared to other pricy ramen places at the Bay Area. I liked my ramen, and the portion was big enough. Also, I love dessert here. Service was very good!

Love this place! It’s this specific Ringer Hut that really hits the spot. Lived in Hawai’i where they opened one in Waikiki and it’s not the same. Their menu here has lots to choose from, but my favorite is the regular champon with yakimeshi.

I’ve driven by the place dozens of times and always thought the building was super weird for a Japanese place. I was in the mood for ramen and found that this place had great reviews. So… there I went! The place looks like it used to be a diner of sorts. It’s casual, with booths, and I think great for kids. The staff was super helpful in helping us decide what kind of Ramen to get. The food comes fast and the portions are pretty darn big. Give this place a try!

I liked this place because it offers variety. I am not saying it is a delicious paradise, which it is very far away from. But I like to see they have udon, soba, yakisoba, ramen, champon, fried rice and all kinds of appetizer. If you want depth, find somewhere else. If you want width, I like what this place can offer.

Ate there 02/03/2016 and as the food was of what I remembered. I couldn’t give a grand rating because… I glanced up and saw that there was so much dust build-up on the fans, exhausts, kitchen areas that I felt that it was very unsanitary. I kept looking at it, the whole time I was there… I mentioned it to the server that served us. She apologized? What??? How could you not see that these needed to be cleaned… badly? I’ve been coming here off and on for years, before the re-model and it was never this bad! CLEANITUP. You could make people sick!!!

My husband served in Japan, and since he’s been back, we’ve been trying to find a Japanese Curry similar to Coco-Icyban. Usually I just make a copy cat at home, but sometimes I just don’t want to deal with the mess. Ringer Hut has Chicken breast, and they have Katsu, but they don’t do Chicken Katsu Curry. They do do regular pork Katsu Curry… it’s not bad. It’s probably one of the closest we’ve found to Coco’s. Not a bunch of onions or carrots in the curry itself. The restaurant is decently sized. We were seated pretty much immediately during dinner. There were a lot of people of all different ethnicities, which means there’s something for everyone. The wait staff was quick and efficient and we made it to our movie with more than enough time.

3.5 stars but I didn’t love the Champon style ramen, so rounding down. However, they give you large portions here, so you definitely get bang for your buck. We came for a late lunch around 2:45pm on a weekend, but they were still really busy at that time. Although we were sat down right away, and ordered pretty quickly, it took at least 10 minutes for our food to arrive. We tried: –California Roll(6 pieces/$ 4.20, ): Just ok. They don’t mix the fake crab with mayo, which is my preference, and I didn’t like the cucumber in here. I wouldn’t get this again here. –Regular Miso Champon Bowl w/Mini CK Donburi($ 13.25, ): The regular bowl is still gigantic, and they give you a ton of noodles. I could barely finish my half of the bowl, and we didn’t touch the chicken donburi at all. I liked the noodles, vegetables, and miso soup, but it wasn’t so good I would go out of my way to come back for it. The chicken donburi bowl was a good amount for a mini, but the rice was mushy and the chicken overcooked and dry. I wouldn’t order that again. Overall, I had a solid meal for the price since we also had an entire donburi bowl as leftovers, but the food wasn’t so good that I feel the need to come back right away. However, I’d recommend checking them out if you’ve never tried Champon style ramen. Parking is easy since they have their own lot.

The name doesn’t really suggest that this is a Japanese restaurant but it is indeed a neighborhood gem! I can’t believe it took me this long to finally try this place and I am glad I did. Their specialty is the champon which is basically ramen with a lot of veggies. I got #20 which is the champon combo and it comes with 6 pieces of gyoza. The size of the noodle is perfect for one person. The broth is like a miso base that is very rich and not too salty. The noodles were good as well. The gyoza was pretty standard but I liked the sauce they provide for it. My friends and I also ordered the fried squid balls(takoyaki) which was pretty good. The environment is very family friendly and service is very prompt which is why I think a lot of people come back to eat here.

I didn’t think I would ever eat at Ringer Hut, I think the name has thrown me off over the years more than anything. My friends kept saying it’s pretty good, get the champon ramen. So the other day we tried it, we were pleasantly surprised. Agree the ramen is very good, had the miso broth version, came with lots of veggies, a tad skimpy on seafood, but noodles were properly cooked– though we had better at Akebono’s in Sacramento. The chicken karaage was really good, best I’ve had recently. Nicely marinated dark meat, crispy, no sauce needed. Yakisoba was ok, maybe best on it’s own, not when eating ramen at the same time, threw the flavors off. Lots of menu choices, good place for groups, gets really busy on weekends. Overall, way better than expected. We now look forward to eating here, when looking for casual J-food in a pinch.

When my son’s aunt, whose husband is Japanese, mentioned all these Japanese spots to try in San Jose we decided to hang out for the day to just eat. .. and shop. .. and eat ;) First stop: lunch at Ringer Hut! I’ve passed by this spot plenty of times and not once did I even take a second look at it. Ringer Hut? I would have never thought it was a Japanese spot. The sign makes it look like a pizza joint. Inside looks like a Denny’s with a very casual feel. Servers are very friendly and attentive –Hector did a great job! I decided to order the Champon — a soup made with a different type of ramen noodle that has a seafood, pork, chicken base – just to try something new. It was good, but I can honestly say its not enough to bring me back here. It just didnt stand out for me. My son loved the chicken curry. The plate had at least three cups of rice(okay, i’m exaggerating but it was a lot!) and he ate it all along with the gyoza. We shared desserts and that stood out more than my meal. My fav was the warabi mochi :) My son wants to come back for the curry so I’ll come back to try something else. Its worth another try!
