Came here for lunch during grocery shopping duties with the madre and felt like it was average ramen, but there are definitely more competitive/better ramen options in the South Bay. We got two ramens: the spicy miso and tonkatsu and started with the agedashi tofu appetizer, which came in a bowl of 5. We thought all of the food was yummy, but not drool-worthy…even though we were starving and ate around 1:30PM. There were mostly families dining in the MUSIC-LESS restaurant(VERY important if you’re coming here with an awkward person), with the occasional two-top or a few older folks/grandparents eating. Most people tend to go for their lunch hot pot special because of the cheap price, but my family has always gotten ramen here at Ogisan. And most recently it’s been mediocre. The flavoring is pretty good, but because their ramen isn’t out of this world, I’d say they need to bolster their ambiance. Decorate a little better or even include some elevator music! The good thing is that they serve hot tea for free(WHOOT) and it seems family-run, so you know it’s not a manger screwing some poor server over for money. I’d say this place should be called Ogisan Hot Pot, but don’t expect their ramen to beat out Maru Ichi(Mountain View) or Kahoo Ramen(by Saratoga’s Mitsuwa). Their bowls are on the smaller size, but it still fills you up. However, their toppings are a bit scarce and their noodles aren’t as chewy/thick as I’d like them to be. Their agedashi was too oily for us, and a bit soft/soaked from bathing in the oil at the bottom of the bowl. However, service is quick and efficient. Go Asians! They refill hot tea as needed, and always check in on you when you raise your hand. I saw that they have shaved ice now, which is surprising! But it seems like every hot pot place also does snow ice… so that’s something exciting to look forward to.

Really glad that we don’t have to wait to get seated, but not satisfied with their Ramen. I prefer authentic Japanese Ramen over modified flavor(or maybe they just make less tasty Ramen). Price and service are all good. There are some famous Ramen places in the South Bay, but all require extremely long wait time. For this reason I will most likely go back to Ogisan again.

We were freezing in the restaurant. Thermostat read 59 F. After we placed our order, we realized that they only accept cash or check. This is inexcusable in my opinion, remember we’re in the 21st century — in the heart of Silicon Valley! Who carries cash around anymore? The restaurant wasn’t well ventilated and we smelled the strong order of the alcohol burners of our neighbor’s hot pot. We had no issues leaving before receiving our food.

Maybe I’m a newbie to ramen. But i think this place is great. Wide selection of ramen noodles. Service is attentive. I like it 5. Until i find a better place. I may update at a later time once i am more experienced in the ramen world. I’m a fan of the Hot & spicy as well as the spicy miso.

WARNING: Bad udon alert!!! Yesterday was the first time we went to this restaurant. Judging from the name, we thought it is a Japanese noodle place. It turns out it is a Taiwanese hotpot place. For crying out loud it has a Chinese menu! We went as a family with two kids so we didn’t go for the hot pot. We ordered two udon and one bento. The udon was terrible. The soup was hot but the udon was not even fully cooked(still lukewarm in the inside). The tempura shrimps were really an insult. It just have enough shrimps to call«shrimps» instead of «shrimp» and I had never seen tempura shrimps that small. Whoever in the kitchen must thought that this is a joke. The final insult to the injury is the price: $ 14 for a bowl of fake Japanese noodle. You can have much better noodle cheaper elsewhere. Would never come to this place again.

Curry ramen base is fantastic. Perfectly between spicy and mild. Tip: get some additional corn in any ramen you choose — makes the meal infinitely better.

My parents and I had an excellent experience at Ogisan Ramen. We have been here twice, once for eating inside, and the other for takeout. I enjoy the ramen meal for two. You get your choice of ramen, plus some other dishes(i.e. minced pork rice, tofu, etc). The food is amazing and plentiful. You will leave stuffed! As amazing as the food is, what is even better is the owner. I witnessed her asking other tables as well as ours how the food was, making small talk, etc. It was very refreshing to see. I can tell that she works hard. This is definitely a great choice for ramen, I’d highly recommend it! Support a local business and try something new.

Super friendly and attentive staff and the food was great. All the ramen options are good and the shabu shabu is on fleek. Just be careful that they’re cash only

I tried to venture out bc some of the other ramen places around the area are super crowded with long waits. Ogisan is fairly large and I came around lunch time on a Saturday for take out even though there were many open tables. I tried the spicy miso and cold noodles, which are seasonal. The spicy miso had a good strong spicy kick to it. I liked about 5 spoonfuls of the salty soup and then it became too much. The cold noodles are pretty standard but I was a little disappointed with the lack of toppings and no egg. I’d come back to try more of their menu items, like the hot pot, sushi and bento boxes. Cash only!

This is our regular comfort food/simple dinner place. It’s Japanese with hints of Taiwanese in my opinion. Our favorites are tonkatsu and hot & spicy Ramen and the personal size shabu shabu in addition to sushi rolls and minced pork rice. Services are good and fast. The dinner boxes we tried were also tasty. It’s finally getting cold. Guess where we’re going for dinner tonight?

Had the Tonkotsu ramen. Few things to point out: 1. noodle is hard and tasteless, when served, felt like they just put it in the soup 2. The soup was tasteless, Felt like instant noodle soup 3. The soft boiled egg looks like just taken out of a fridge, which was the case since it was cold when served… 4. Pork doesn’t taste fresh nor well cooked 5. It’s not an authentic Japanese restaurant for sure Maybe their other stuffs are worth trying, but not Tonkotsu ramen(probably the worst I’ve tried).

I come here often for their tonkatsu ramen, I love it. Today was my first time trying their shabu shabu and it was great! Their service is also friendly and quick(:

I like eating at ramen restaurants and this ramen place is pretty good. The noodle wasn’t over cooked and the soup base tasted savory and filling. I got some extra vegetables in mine and I was happy with the way the bowl was served. The potstickers were crisp and yummy too. I’m glad that we unexpectantly saw this ramen place and decided to try something new. Love trying new places to eat.

Restaurant is located right by the AAA. Came with husband, our 4 year old and our 8-month old on a Friday, around 6:30PM. There wasn’t a wait, and there were a few tables available. We ordered the Miso Ramen, the Original Tonkatsu Hot Pot with additional Cuttlefish balls, the Minced Pork Rice, and the Mango Shaved Ice. Miso Ramen: Pretty good! Not too salty, flavorful, and the noodles were QQ. Original Tonkatsu Hot Pot: Loved it! I like the fact that it already comes with an assortment of items(green veggies, mushroom, a couple meat/fish balls, tofu). The pork slices were really good too; not too thin, not too thick. BBQ(Shacha) sauce and chopped green onions provided too. Minced Pork Rice: It was OK. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Mango Shaved Ice: Fantastic! Farily creamy, with bits of mango and fruit jelly. Service: Good. Food could have come out a little faster, and there were a couple of mistakes(brought us another table’s meat, delivered my cuttlefish balls to another table), but overall it was good. Quite a few tables had kids, so kids are very welcome! It is owned by Taiwanese people, and I believe they cook their own broths from scratch. I’d definitely come back!

We tried two of the ramen offerings, kara-age, miso chicken appetizer, takoyaki, gyoza, and the green tea shaved ice dessert. While this is only a small sampling, these are very basic, foundation dishes that should be done reasonably well. Without exception, everything tasted like it was from the frozen food section of your favorite grocery store. That said, it’s not bad for the price, no lines, clean, very close by, and the service was great. I wish them luck and continued success milking their networks(friends, friends of friends, the teens in the area, and so on), and I hope they produce some winners on the fusion front — Taiwanese/Chinese food is the best, Japanese food is great too — there should be ways to make them both work together.

I like my food fresh. I like my soup boiling hot. I like my noodles al dente. and I like to enjoy food that has a surprise mix in it. «O-M-Gisan» delivered. ( ) We were in the prospect(Ha! the place is in Prospect Rd. — what a coincidence!) of going to another vietnamese noodle house for the night when we happen to pass by this place that say Ogisan Ramen, Shabu-shabu. We changed our minds from phở to ramen and readily came in. Then we saw a bunch of people eating with hot pots in front of them and so we changed our minds again. Thank goodness for second thoughts! The venue: The place was comfy inside with lots of tables. The ambiance is relaxed and place is organized and kept neat with its Japanese decorations( ). There wasn’t a long wait and when we came in we were nicely greeted by its staff and given the menu. They also had a chalk board that shows japanese snow ice drawn on it. The artist is very good giving the ad a whimsical twist to it.( ) I ordered the Miso soup with pork and my brother ordered the Kim-chi soup base with beef. Though the other people in our party ordered bento boxes and sushi, my review will be focused on the mini shabu-shabu. The vegetable is fresh and the meat ratio is very good per order( ). I like the presentation with the pink flammable rock on the bottom of the burner. We had the meat in another plate and next to it is a container for the onions and the miso paste. Even tho there isn’t much of the distinctive Japanese taste that one would be looking for, the soup in itself is very good. Very savory but not overly seasoned. The kind lady came by in our table taking good care of us, even teaching my brother on how to prepare the shabu-shabu( ), placing the hard veggies first(kabocha, taro and small corn on a cob) in the broth. She then instructed us to place in the thicker napa cabbage stalks then the leaves and have the meat not stay too long because it is cut very thinly. Then we can put everything else as we pleased. Such care and attentiveness by the lady is well appreciated. I really enjoyed the meal and took my time to savor each chopstick-ful of delicious shabu-shabu and slurped my broth to the very last drop(with the help of my daughter). Oh! and the surprisingly good part of the meal? those rice sticks/rolls…its like mochi in hot soup… soooo good!

Oh-Gee-Saaaaaan. Ordered: — Shoyu Ramen $ 8.95 — Mini Shabu Shabu with curry soup base and beef $ 13.95 Tina’s Ticks and Tricks — Parking space is small, but you won’t have a problem … I don’t think — Total of $ 24.90 — Oh-mah-gah, I’m so happy that I got to witness the workers in real action. I was very impressed with the service that was provided and it wasn’t even for me! — Lady worker(possibly owner) helped a customer who ordered hot pot for himself how to do it and helped him cook his sides and meat. Not only that, but she explained to him how to do it while she was doing it then sat down with him to help him. You honestly don’t see that anymore. — If I’m ever craving curry hot pot, this will the place. — Just the right amount of food. Will be back to try other hot pots!

Idk why the reviews are so low, I loved their variety of ramen. I got the spicy miso extra spicy and my bf got extra spicy on his ramen too, we loved it. The soup stayed hot until I was done with all the noodles, which I looooove! The soup wasn’t too salty or too bland. And for dessert we got the mango snow ice, it was ok, did not taste as good as other restaurants but who cares because I really loved the ramen hahah
