We ordered 3 rolls and have been waiting over 30 minutes for our food. We received complimentary«over cooked» edamame due to the sushi bar being busy. However, the notice the sushi chef was busy«Kang Bai» with his regulars instead of focusing on making sushi! Another couple arrived 20 minutes after us and got their food within 5 minutes, I’m assuming the chef knows them because they were greeted by him. The rolls are small and tasteless. If we weren’t hungry and have been waiting this long, we would have left!

Came here after a long break. Came with my husband and 11 month old, both ate dinner bentos and really enjoyed it! To be updated later…

This place is AWESOME! It’s in a little strip mall in Saratoga, but don’t let that fool you. The owner’s wife waited on our table(a group of 6 on a Wednesday night), and service was on point. We did everything family style including big bottles of Sapporo. The owner himself made us some amazing custom rolls based on what we enjoyed, and every single roll was fantastic! I will definitely check this place out again next time I am in town.

Tried it the first time today and I do not like it. The spicy tuna had way too much Siracha which overpowered everything else. On top of that, it had this sweet tangy taste to it and a funny smell. It didn’t smell like bad fish but rather some kind of funny spicy, something you’d smell at Ranch 99. Either way, I rarely throw out sushi but I threw out over half of my to go order. For the price, the rolls were quite small as well. Their«unsauced» rolls such as the 2 – 2 train was okay, and you can’t really mess up a roll that is just rice and fish. But then again the fish did not particularly fresh where the yellow tail looked more yellow than a fresh pink. Avoid this place if you can. It’s not worth trying.

We tripped on to this jewel — as you probably wouldn’t find it if you weren’t looking for it. Friendly service and yummy food! My mom takes sushi very seriously, and she loves this place — always remarking that the rice is perfect and the portions generous. And if you aren’t feeling it for sushi, they also have a selection of Korean food that is wonderful. The homemade kimchi isn’t for amateurs — spicy!

Stopped by to grab a bite. Sat down, placed my order which was an appetizer and two sushi rolls. We were served our tea… After placing our order a man walks in and orders a to go order. 30 mins later we are still just sipping on our tea and the to go order guy has left. We looked over and the sushi chef had walked to the back and there were no rolls in the making. We asked for our food to go and canceled the appetizer. No thank you

First visit to Sushi 22 Train as we’re learning our new neighborhood. We went on a Thursday night and it was not busy at all. The owner and waitstaff were very cordial and service was great. We ordered several rolls, including the Cherry Blossom, Spicy Tuna, salmon nigiri, the Mark(I think), something involving a Canadian and edamame. All in all, we thought everything was very good and would go back.

This was some of the worst sushi I’ve had. The people were nice, but man it was not good.

The sushi here is amazing! It’s a little pricey compared to other sushi places but they have rolls you can’t find anywhere else. The staff is super friendly and always welcoming. The villa montavelo is a must try!

They are pretty nice here but the sushi is really small and expensive. The taste isn’t bad and I would come here if I were in a pinch. There’s not a lot to choose from in the immediate area. They also serve bibimbap which would be interesting to try sometime.

What happened? This place always had pretty decent Sushi, but what we got this week wasn’t good at all. It was barely acceptable. The Nigiri was cut in a way that it had holes in it. The fish didn’t seem fresh. The Nigiri was prepared with a tiny amount of rice, it barely noticeable. We were hungry and came right when the restaurant opened. Weren’t they ready for guests yet? On the good side, the waitress was super-friendly and helpful.

Huge selection of rolls, my favorite is the villa montalvo(be warned it is very rich!), but the sashimi is delicious here. Fresh and tender hamachi, salmon, and tuna. The atmosphere is very friendly and fun with Sang preparing all the sushi himself, getting everyone to take sake bombs, and playing the saxophone from time to time. This is my favorite sushi restaurant in the South Bay. Highly recommended if you are looking for a fun place with great sushi.

Sang rocks! This is my family’s go to spot for sushi. The rolls are always so yummy and there’s tons to choose from. The atmosphere is just as great as the food. Sang often does sake bombs with the customers and has conversations. 22 train is just a wonderful place to have sushi. The spicy tuna is so good as is the gyoza. Enjoy!

As the name suggests they have a wide array of sushi’s literally going like in a train right in front of you, chef’s are always ready there to answer your questions and give some valuable suggestions. Honestly I do not know the name of what all I tried but ya most of them tasted good and fresh specially the salmon ones. As they stated in earlier reviews ginger and tea are free, the restaurant itself is pretty cheap as each dish is $ 1.50 and four of them can easily fill you out. Drawback of all asian restaurant not clean enough applies here also.

These guys really need to refrigerate their fish better. The fishy smell coming from the bar is indicative that their stock is decaying and that doesn’t bode well for food quality or health concerns. The food is really very forgettable and pretty darn expensive for the quality. I had to do this review before I left for fear of forgetting I was ever here.

All in all, had a good experience here. The prices are pretty reasonable(especially for a sushi joint), and the hostess/waitress was very pleasant throughout the whole dining experience. Make sure you request some kimchi — apparently it’s homemade and it’s definitely very delicious! Arrived at 5pm(right when it opened) and we were the only patrons in the restaurant. Waitress was very attentive and the food came out in about 10 minutes max. Sashimi was fresh, albeit a bit small, and the lemon chicken was very tasty. Like all the other reviewers said, it’s got a nice«local feel» to it. Would definitely come back!

Soooo disappointing! Years ago, we used to come to this sushi place and USEDTOBE tasty, good quality although little pricey. Today we came back and the experience was very poor. The seaweed was very low quality and the fish was… Well fishy! Very unfortunately that the quality has fallen so much in the last 2 – 3 years. I sincerely can’t recommend this place. Avoid it if possible. If you’re looking for a good sushi place, drive a little bit to Kazoo sushi boat in Campbell.

Can’t believe it’s been four years since I’ve updated my review of the Train! Visited again earlier this week. As usual, the Master himself — Sang was at the controls, guiding the Train down the tracks of sushi deliciousness! I started off with the Tuna Poke — and as always, asked Sang to make it really, really spicy! He did not disappoint! I was fighting a cold and all of that spice really felt good. I then moved on to a bowl of Miso soup. You’d think that something as basic as Miso soup would be something that all Japanese joints could master — but I can tell you that around Virginia — Miso soup for the most part does not have the flavor it should — it often tastes watered down! Not so at the Sushi 22 Train! It was delicious! I could’ve drank a gallon of that soup! After the Miso soup, I ordered the Harley-Davidson rolls, an order of straight Sake(salmon) — just the fish with no rice, and one more order of Tuna Poke. I asked Sang to make it even spicier — which he did! The Harley-Davidson rolls are a spicy tuna roll and were absolutely perfect! Hit the spot! And the Sake was so tender, succulent, and buttery — it could not have tasted any better! Finally, the last round of Tuna Poke was divine. I wish I knew how to make that sauce — I’d put it on everything!

Stumbled upon this place while going to a small market. The owner was friendly and she quickly helped us. Even though there weren’t may customers during the time I went, the food took a while to come. The food was ok. I ordered a bento box and even though the chicken was nicely favored, it was a bit burnt and the salad dressing had a weird taste to it. I probably will not come back.
