The staff are very friendly and accommodating which really does add to a positive experience. The pizza is good and definitely reminds you of New York style pizza. Big, thin slices that you can fold to eat. Yes, they sell by the slice, and what a large slice it is and there are several choices to choose from. They have limited pasta dishes, but I have just had the pizza so can’t comment on them. It is nice that you can order a beer to wash down that great slice of pizza. So why only three stars, well I just feel like this place could be updated.

I came here with friends this past weekend, and was not happy with our experience. My fiancé and I ordered a pizza to share, and our friends ordered another pizza to share. About 20 minutes later, our friends’ pizza came, and we continued to wait for ours. 5 minutes after that, our waitress came with a Margarita pizza, which was not what we ordered. We politely told her that we didn’t order it, and she apologized. A few minutes after that, she informed us that they ran out of eggplant(one of the main ingredients in the pizza we did order), and that due to it being close to their closing time, could not make another pizza. She told us that our only options were to take the Margarita pizza or get our money back. My fiancé and I then went over to the register to see if there were any other options, as we had been waiting for over 25 minutes for our pizza that never came. Manuel, the manager, repeated the only 2 options the waitress had given us — get our money back, or take the Margarita pizza — without apologizing. We had explained that it seemed to be a little unfair that we had been waiting 25+ minutes for a pizza that we didn’t even order, and was not even given something, other than our money to compensate. Manuel then became very aggressive and defensive and said that there were no other options and seemed like he wanted us to just leave. At this point, one of the other staff members had come over to ask what had occurred. We told him the situation, and he said that he agreed with us and would have offered the other pizza at no charge, but had to stand by his manager(which I guess is understandable, but still not what we wanted to hear). Unfortunately, due to the way Manuel responded/his lack of customer service, we will not be returning here, and will not be recommending it to anyone in the future.

Another great pizza place, when I don’t even really like New York style pizza. My boyfriend and I took a nap and slept unexpectedly long. We woke up hungry at 9pm, saw this place was open until 10pm, and headed over. They were very accommodating. I always get garlic knots at New York pizza places, and this time was no different. They weren’t as salty as I wanted, but they definitely weren’t bad. I also love that you can buy pizza by the slice. It’s huge, but it’s not too much, so it’s perfect. I got pepperoni this time, and I found myself very satisfied after dinner. To make the experience even better, I witnessed one employee go above and beyond in being kind to a homeless person, when he really didn’t have to. Not that we shouldn’t be kind to people, but that he went out of his way. It’s very rare to see in employees who work in popular cities. I’ll definitely be back! There is only one other New York pizza place I like in San Jose, so I’ll just rotate!

Rosie’s! I was in the Alameda area and decided to try this spot again since… idk, years ago? Every past visit here has been great so far. The employees are really helpful and always have a smile on their face. They do a good job cleaning the dining area and I’ve never stumbled into a dirty table. The dining area is pretty big with TV’s broadcasting the latest sports and what not. Anyway, I walked in with hunger, hoping I don’t end up binging on a whole pizza, I immediately saw the garlic knots displayed in the window. It caught my eye, so I ordered(3) garlic knots and a slice of cheese. Total was $ 6.25. The man quickly then fired up the knots and the pizza slice. It took around 5 minutes and the bro of a dude brought the food to my table. Sweet! Both the knots and the slice were steaming hot. The knots were definitely crispy and soft. The dough was good and the garlicky marinara sauce made them twice as good. The only criticism I have for these knots is that they lacked garlic. Only a few sprinkles of actual garlic was placed on top of the knot. Overall, I didn’t really taste as much garlic I was expecting to. I was a little disappointed. The slice on the other hand, was OK. The marinara sauce that they use had a garlic taste that I simply love, but the crust was a little soggy and lacked crispy-ness. Cheese was good, so no complaints on that. The pizza slice overall was decent but, I still enjoyed every bite. However, it wasn’t the best I’ve had, I’ll tell you that. Summing up, my experience here with the employees has been always lovely and helpful. Sometimes they hook me up with free drinks which I still appreciate to this day. The food however, lacks some taste and is a little expensive. The pizza and the knots were good, no doubt about that, but not worthy of a drive and the difficulty of parking in this area.

Rosie’s is right on our corner and we love it! And I have to say we are probably the best qualified to rate New York pizza. We aren’t native New Yorkers but we did reside there for 11 years(someone once told me if you make it 10 years you can be considered an official transplant). So, I’ll level with you. This is no Sal and Carmine’s(our favorite NYC pizzeria), BUT it is the next closest thing! The pies are delicious and they sell by the slice — a quintessential New York option. We love the weekly specials too. We are known to share a chicken parm on Thursdays but the pizza is what keeps us coming back. Now, can someone please help me find a place in Silicon Valley with a bagel even close to NYC grade?!

My new favorite salad and a slice, lunch and munch. Best salad in town and a great tasting New York slice. I’m very picky when it comes to pizza. Ask me about Amicis, and I’ll probably throw up in my mouth. Amichis serve some gross pizza. But Rosie’s is like a party in my mouth. They have perfected everything. If you have the time you should check this place out. Warning. Their garlic knots have a strange smell to them. But I promise that they taste great. Don’t miss out on this wonderful place to eat.

Another place I’ve been going to since the early 2000’s with my coworkers. Whoever says this is the best New York style pizza in the South Bay obviously hasn’t tried Slice of New York, but that’s just my opinion. I’ve tried a lot of the pizza here and it’s decent, but not great… they have a decent thin crust and the sauce is OK but it is not 5 stars if you know what I mean. I’ve had the lunch specials many times: they give you a salad, slice of pizza/rigatoni/etc. and a soda for $ 8. It’s a good deal for $ 8, which is why I usually order it. So, I basically I docked a star for the pizza being OK, but I have to dock another star for how long it takes to get your food. I remember multiple times it took a long to get our food whether it was pizza or the lunch special. And if it was the special, those orders should be flying out of the kitchen IMO. Why else would you be selling the lunch specials if you can’t deliver quickly? The location is near the Shark Tank and it is also near Santa Clara University. If you are in the area and have a pizza craving, try this place out. If you are not in the area, I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way just to go here.

Best New York pizza I’ve had in the Bay Area. I got a fresh-out-of-the-oven slice of pepperoni that made my heart glow.

Pizza is my absolute favorite food. If I was on death row and was asked what I’d want as my last meal, I’d say pizza. Their pizza is thin crust. I’m more of a thick crust kind of girl but their pizza was pretty good. We also had their garlic knots that I wish were a bit more garlicky but they were still good. They have limited parking but most places do in downtown San Jose.

My co-worker raved that Rosie’s had really good and huge calzones. So we stopped in one day for lunch. We actually called ahead and ordered it so it would be ready when we arrived. My co-worker and I split the steak calzone. It’s probably 8−10″ in diameter, the size of a small pizza folded in half and as big as my head. It was filling for me. But my guy co-worker still looked pretty hungry though. Haha. I think the cheese was the most filling part for me. But it was stuffed with steak, mozzarella, onions, mushrooms, peppers and the NY sauce. All really good stuff. And the shell/crust had a nice brown to it and was not too thick. I would have the calzone again or their house version. Also I’ve heard their pizzas and pastas are pretty good too. They sell slices for a quick lunch too.

Came one night just to get out of the house and get studying done. I’d say it’s a decent place for such. Ordered a small pepperoni pizza, but definitely would have ordered by the slice, if I had seen that on the menu(probably wasn’t looking hard enough). Also ordered a small house salad, but would have passed if I had known it was pre made and sitting in the fridge. But it did taste fresh. Overall, I enjoyed this place. I liked the pizza and salad, and wish there was a larger selection of tap beer. But all in all it was good. I’m sure I’ll be back.

One of my favorite pizza places ever! Pizza is hand tossed and high quality, Make sure to get your pizza well done so it gets a little black on the bottom as a New York pizza should be. I like a regular ol’ pepperoni. I moved out of California and really miss this place. I was their on my birthday once and the owner gave me a couple a free beers. He’s a good guy and friendly to his customers as are his staff. Keep up the good work, Rosie’s!

Great NY style pizza slices. Have had plain cheese & their margherita. This place is one of the handful of pizza places in the SF/SJ/OAK area that actually make authentic NY style pizza. The service was fast & good. There was plenty of street parking.

We have been looking for a comfort place since our return to the area Rosie’s can be this place. The food is good it’s not a fancy sit down. You place your order and they bring it to you. It’s more than a pizza place daily specials around $ 8. May be hard to get to on Sharks game nights.

How did I not know about this place sooner! I went to elementary, middle school, high school and college all within a 5 mile radius and didn’t start eating here until this year. Usually I’m all about a thick fluffy crust, but Rosie’s manages to compile all the deliciousness in a thin crust. The pizza here is baked to a golden crisp. It’s flakey with a rich marinara sauce and zesty cheese. The pepperoni is spot on. This is a gem! It’s best to get the lunch special(salad, drink, 1 slice of pizza) otherwise you’ll keep eating even when you’re full. That’s how good it is.

Benny, my new friend and the one who will be doing all my high quality video work, we had a marvelous Mexican salad with warm chicken. The sauce was unique and tasted so good. I especially appreciated that it is a family run restaurant. I look forward to going back.

You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I’m not hungry enough to eat six. Yogi Berra– If you didn’t know, I love pizza! New York, Chicago I don’t discriminate! As long as it’s good! Rosie is one of my go-to’s!!! Especially for lunch or take home!!! I’m currently caffeinated as I’m writing this!!! So this is why the!!! One night I decide that we all go out for pizza and arrive here early. Good thing we did! There was a Sharks game late in the evening. Once ordered, I felt like was rushed and pushed to the side. The young lady was ready to take the next order. Offering no help, having my baby and bag, she just pushed my beverages that I just order to the side. SMH! We sat at a booth and noticed that we arrived just in time as the restaurant began to fill up. There were a few«chicken hawks», waiting for a table. Chicken Hawks are those who hover next to tables while families/couples dine and are eager to take over that table. Even thou the table is dirty, cluttered with food and the seat cushion still warm. The pizza is great! Just enough sauce, and the right amount of toppings! But, but the Garlic Knots are Outstanding!!! Ask for extra marinara sauce! The marinara is so fresh and tasty! Get here early if you want to dine in! Beverages. Beer & Wine! Parking the are a few lots, or the street.

Rosie’s is always great for a quick bite to eat. It’s within walking distance of our place and offers pretty good pizza and delicious garlic knots. I like selection of condiments on the table and a decent cold beer to wash down my meal. I admire the staff that remained calm when asked for a fork, that they the family forgot to obtain for their son, upon her return they asked for peppers, and the third time napkins… People like this frustrate me but hats off to the young girl who just took care of her guests with a smile on her face! I have yet to sample the kitchen menu, pasta and such but the pizza always is ok. This time it was a little bland but nothing a little salt and crushed red pepper can’t fix!

Love how they use fresh mozzarella, disappointing how flavorless the veggie pizza was. My favorite part of the pizza — the crust was dry and tasteless. The dough of the pizza was flappy and the tomato sauce lacked oomph. Had to add a good few shakes of the dried garlic powder and hot pepper flakes. The toppings were minimal — a few olives, a few small slices of canned artichoke and onions and bell peppers. For a slice of pizza that cost $ 4.75 I would have expected much more.
