Safeway is Safeway, what can I say?! This one tends to be a bit crowded most of the time because it’s the only close grocery store in quite a big neighborhood. I hear some locals just drive further to Lucky’s just to avoid the overcrowded mess! I wish Safeway had more organic options in the meat department, because the selection is always VERY slim especially at this location!

A very convenient grocery store in Almaden Valley. The store it’s self is on the small side and could use an update. I have noticed that they are frequently out of staples. Especially milk and bread. Produce and meat selection is below average. Also, no self checkout.

Not the biggest or the best but very convenient and clean. It’s a bit crowded but they do have everything you need. The olive bar is quite extensive. I’m a fan of the garlic and they have plenty.

This is the store that handles home deliveries for the area. Most of the time it’s OK, but they have been late a few times. To get compensated for waiting you need to call their support and wait… but they typically give you a credit. The experience that has changed my view of the service was the other day when I received a call from the local dispatch, about an hour before the delivery, and he said the truck broke done and they don’t have an ETA. The guy expected my delivery to be very late… I had the 7 to 9pm window and he even mentioned as late as 11PM. He did tell me to call support at 7PM for an update. After 20 minutes on hold I got a representative at ~7:25PMPDT and they had received no communication from the local store so they canceled my order and I would receive a $ 15 credit. I ended up going to the nearest Safeway to get my groceries. Later that night I saw two Safeway charges on my banking app! This was on July 28, and Safeway has STILL not reversed the charges! I called and they simply said it takes 7 — 10 days… really??? Besides the delivery fees and a good amount of items costing on the average of $.40 more you basically have to accept them delivering late or they’ll just hold your money for days! What I experienced was a severe communication breakdown between the local representative and customer support since customer support didn’t have any information regarding the status of the truck. I even gave them the number I received the initial call from and they didn’t follow through. Luckily there’s a closer Safeway to me now, because I think I’m done with the home delivery. As it stands I’m not interested in giving Safeway any more of my money since they have yet to refund me. For now I drive past and go to Nob Hill.

Large variety, clean store, convenient location. So why just two stars? Because the prices are out of control. It costs more to shop here than at Whole Foods, and that’s saying a lot! The Club Card specials are always good deals, but everyday pricing is just too high. I have no complaints about the staff, the store or the products. Just the prices, and two stars on Unilocal means«I’ve experienced better.»

After having to go out to get last minute flowers after the local florist delivered the worst flowers ever, I am happy to say I was able to find a great arrangement here for almost the same price! Next year I will definitely go to Safeway instead of the local florist! Only complaint is the lady at the checkout was waaayyyy to distracted.

Neighborhood Safeway ? Then why do I buy ground sirloin and the package says«ingredients from Canada, Australia and New Zealand»?

I love this Safeway. I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve always had a great experience. Parking is usually available since there is a rather large lot, you just might not be able to be parked right in front. I do not recommend coming the day before a large holiday since it will be really busy but most of the times it is easy to walk in and out with what you need in just a few minutes. I think this location has some of the friendliest employees throughout the entire store. They are always willing to help me grab something off a high shelf or help walk me to my car if I have a lot of groceries and forget to bring a bag. The cashiers always ask how my day is going and actually seem interested in what I have to say. The entire store is pretty and organized with the aisles clearly labeled. The produce is usually fresh too which is nice. They have a really good selection of alcohol to choose from and always have some kind of sale on their beer, wine, and spirits. I think they give you a certain percentage off your purchase of alcohol if you mix and match a case of wine or spirits. In addition, their deli area is great too. The people that work there are always very nice too and always make my sandwiches as requested. I also love that this store is located next to so many other things like Starbucks, togos, and chase bank.

I love this Safeway. People who work here are like family. Great service they are all totally dedicated to their customers. Fun place to go shopping. I love the person who is from Germany who works in the florist. She is like a close friend or relative. Love to talk to her, she is the best. Take Mark manager of Starbucks. What a great worker. He would be an excellent manager. I just love to shop here. It is totally Almaden. Carol And Larry Dauch San Jose CA

I generally would never rate a supermarket; however, I had such an exceptional experience I decided I had to. A stocker I believe named Michael was so helpful. I came in for some simple soda item on sale and did not find root beer so I picked some other flavors, at checkout he asked if I found what I wanted, I said no and he scanned the back of the store to find what I wanted that had just come in. Swapping them out quickly and friendly. Gives me new faith in super markets.

Love this clean fully stocked Safeway! Big plus they have a Starbucks inside. Customer Service is awesome. I’ve been coming here for about 13 years now when I worked in the area and now live here. Store is clean, stocked, and customers are very friendly to each other. There are a LOT of senior that shop here and they go gaga over my kids. Especially my just turned 1yr old. Check out has been pretty fast and of course slower on holiday weekend like ANY other store. This is my preferred Safeway in SJ.

This Safeway is a horrible place to shop for anything. The only reason why I go here is because I live on campus at Santa Clara University. I miss my Lucky’s back in my neighborhood. It’s very small compared to other Safeway’s and its very packed. Also their selection isn’t as great compared to other grocery stores. For an example, Lucky’s has an isle that has many different ethnic foods. This Safeway does not. They only have a small selection of it. Also I come here looking for broccoli… but they only have the bagged ones that are really big or organic. Also the service is horrible. There would be only one cashier at times and it would literally take 15 minutes just to buy 1 item sometimes.

the world according to noelle, 2013 noelle’s Unilocal notebook This Safeway is located in the Almaden area of San Jose. Customer service here is friendly and everything is well stocked. Usually, I like to shop here in the mornings which means less crowds because everyone is at work(one of the benefits of being a stay at home mom!). Produce and fruits are always fresh, the bakery has delish fresh breads and sweets. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area!

If you know how to shop, then you’ll easily save 25% on groceries with your Safeway club card. Being in SoCal for school the last three years, I’m really happy to be back in San Jose where I can shop at Safeway instead of VONS. hahaha Going to this Safeway always makes me feel nostalgic since it’s a landmark my friends and I always use because it’s a convenient place to meet. Plus it’s open 24/7, so whenever my friends and I need to make a grocery run in the middle of the night, Safeway’s always there for us like a warm security blanket. One thing I don’t agree with though, why does Safeway have a Starbucks inside it when there’s a Starbucks right next door?
