When looking for delicious over-the-counter food that won’t bust your belt, I always choose Sandella’s. Their food always tastes fresh and it is the only«healthy food» that makes my mouth water — Sandella’s flatbread and sushi. For a quick stop, it’s rather convenient. Not as fast as McDonald’s, but they can whip up your order rather quickly — especially since all food is made to order, or so I have seen while peering over the counter. My favourite is the California quesadilla. For under 500 calories and $ 6, it’s filling and scrumptious. Quite a wise investment, if you ask me. I’d have no problem eating lunch there every day!

I like their melty cheese and flatbread, however, unlike what they advertised, their food isn’t all that fast(the wait is about 10 minutes to get your food… my lunch hour is only 30 minutes!). Their cheese is melty and messy, so watch out because it could burn your tongue! There is not a lot of seating in there, and the tables are usually somewhat sticky, but what can you expect from a fast food place? Also, some of their menu items are pretty greasy. So even though you’re eating healthier flatbreads, when the restaurant slaps on tons of grease, making it soggy and not as pretty as they look in the pictures, it’s not all that appealing.

I really liked the look of this place and the location put it in line with a lot of places I’ve frequented, so maybe I had subconscious higher expectations of this place… I ordered the California Quesadilla, which on the menu looked and sounded great, but it tasted a bit soggy. The guacamole they used wasn’t very appealing and they really dowsed the outside with a lot of oil, I know they do that to get the seasonings they use to stick, but it was way too much. At least I had a Dr. Pepper to wash it down with.

I happened upon this place out of pure desperation. I was going to see a movie in downtown San Jose at Camera 12(Chris Rock’s, Good Hair — which was excellent by the way). I was starving. I needed something fast and cheap to eat. I was with my adventuresome friend. We had a choice of Sandella’s or Baja Fresh. My friend is a lot more open minded than I am — she’ll try anything once, so we decided to try something new. The menu has a wide variety, and most likely has something that even the pickiest person would eat. I don’t like meat, but that was not a problem. Sandella’s had a tasty, low fat, selection — the Vegetarian Quesadilla. I loved it because it was flavorful, filling and fiscally friendly. I will come back to this café again. I’d even be able to bring my picky 10 year old son. Not bad. Lesson Learned: Every now and then, venture out and try something you’ve never done. You just might like it.

I don’t know if a pre made flat bread with small amount of whatever in it counts as a good meal… We stopped in this place on our way to see a movie thinking it was going to be good? NO… It was a bland tasteless piece of cardboard with a VERY small amount of goods on the inside. We both ordered the Paninni and I must say it was far from being an Italian sandwich. We paid $ 17.00 for 2 drinks & the paninni’s. Not what I thought at all for that price. They are as far as I can tell a Glorified Subway. If you want that kind of food then this is your palce. GOODLUCK…

I only get flatbreads here. They’re basically very thin crust pizzas. I tried the aloha, margherita, and Brazilian. The aloha was my favorite. The Brazilian had a very sweet sauce that I did not like. Good and healthy option for lunch.

When I walked into this place, the first thing that came to mind was, «This place is so going to get a 4.5 stars on Unilocal when I get home.» As my meal went on, it steadily lost points. The menu items look pretty good. While I thought Horace’s review was really funny, I do actually like the idea of swapping out thick, greasy pizza crusts for healthier, yet still delicious, flatbreads. Our group got the Margherita, Brazilian Chicken, and Pesto Chicken flatbreads. In theory, all of these were tasty and filling… but this is one of those flavor-overload moments. The pesto sauce was more cream than pesto. 3 slices of the Pesto Chicken was all I could take. The«special» Brazilian sauce is an orange-yellow-peppery goo that was too sticky sweet. 1 slice of the Brazilian was more than enough for my taste buds. I would go back here again, if only to try to rectify the Brazilian Chicken mistake. The other menu items look pretty decent.

Stuff can be messy, but it’s still really tasty. I had that BBQ chicken quesadilla, which was generous on the BBQ sauce mostly. It’s pretty clean for the most part though. However, it’s much like any sort of standard lunch place, except everything’s on flat bread.

Aloha Grilled Flatbread. Pineapple, ham, bacon, red onion, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil and Mango Habanero Sauce. It sounds good, but they don’t give as much topping as you might hope for. It would definitely be worth it if they were more generous with toppings. It’s served pizza style, and just as greasy.

I like this place, yes it’s a chain but I like it’s fresh food and imaginative menu — some might say it they don’t like pizza on flatbread but I found it to be good. The portion sizes are healthy(meaning they are smaller than some — which I prefer). I like it because it is not a «burger» place(there are many of those near by) and the items on this menu contain a nice variety of choices. This one is clean and has a nice location on the pedestrian mall.

The algorithm that Sandella’s uses to create their menu is as follows: 1) Figure out common foods that use baked dough as a primary ingredient. 2) Substitute baked dough with flatbread. That’s it. Zero consideration as to whether it’s even an appropriate substitution. Laziest menu ever. Who in their right mind would think that flatbread pizza, or flatbread panini, or flatbread wraps would be anything less than awful? It might be passable if the flatbread were any good, but the flatbread that was used to make my panini was tough as cardboard and about as flavorful. It certainly didn’t help that the fillings(processed turkey slices, mozzarella, and«sun-dried» tomatoes) were standard supermarket-variety. The wrap my coworker had was equally uninspiring. And his side salad? Mounds of lettuce and a half of a tomato slice — yes, a single *half*. Evidently they couldn’t afford the extravagance of tossing in the other half slice. And a personal nitpick that just highlights the extent of their laziness… generic Copperplate Gothic and Papyrus fonts for the logo? Seriously? It’s like the geniuses in management sitting in their offices suddenly realized they needed a logo, so they just typed«Sandella’s Flatbread Café» into Word and styled it with whatever retarded fonts they thought looked best. They may as well have tossed in some Comic Sans and gone for the trifecta of typography fail. Everything about this joint just screams laziness, poor attention to detail, and cost cutting. God, I hate this place so much.

Found this place by accident LOVED their«Brazillian Chicken Grilled Flatbread» All within reasonable price Tried their panini =\ wasn’t as great Basic ingredients and yet so tasty Remember to get a bag of flatbread chips! Eat inside; it’s clean and spacious! A+ in my book! Dine in Downtown San Jose! :D

Wow! I was really quite pleased with this place. For $ 6.99, I got a pretty large Aloha flatbread pizza. It was bursting with all sorts of flavors and, at the end of my meal, I was quite satisfied. Their chips were great, too, and came free with the meal. I was quite pleased! I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs a quick and cheap meal.

Before I went to go watch Terra(and eventually sneak into Star Trek), I came here for a quick bite with my movie buddy. I had this Brazilian flatbread pizza thing and it was super delicious. My movie buddy had a BBQ chicken quesadilla and it was tasty. The prices were pretty low. I could see myself coming back here again. And if so, I might even raise the score. Currently, it is at 3.47-stars or so. By the way, Terra was actually a pretty cool animated film. Star Strek was okay. I snuck into and I felt it was trying too hard to be funny. But of course, the Trekkies laughed. Dorks. I wanted my money back. Then I remembered that I snuck in.

I try to support our downtown businesses but this place sure left me wanting more. I had a wrap and the sauce was mediocre but the the lack of taste was disappointing. We tried a different wrap just to be sure it wasn’t a fluke but that one was eh. I will make a wrap at home before going back to this place.

The service here, along with the speed of making the flatbread stuff, is really excellent. It’s the best service you’re gonna find anywhere in this kind of restaurant. I was very pleased. The food is tasty, though a bit one note. There’s a lot of sweetness in their things like the Aloha and Brazilian flatbreads, but they’re still quite tasty. I tasted the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and it was good and a touch spicy. I think the Aloha is the best hting I’ve had on my four visits during Cinequest. I think it’s one of the best changes in Downtown since the previous Cinequest.

This is my second time here. The employees are incredibly nice, efficient and helpful. The food is made quickly in front of you. Even though it is a downtown restaurant, it doesn’t have the downtown over expensive feel. it’s adequately priced. It can average you about $ 6 – 7. The same price as food on campus. And they provide wi-fi. This being said, it’s an easy walk from SJSU. The food here is very flavorful. The ingredients are very fresh and the chef chose a great combination of tastes. I’m a Pescaterian and though they don’t have any seafood meals, the vegetarian ones I’ve had are very good. I ate the Mediterranean Quesadilla — loved the pesto sauce and you can actually taste a hint of feta cheese(i’m not a big cheese fan but it was light enough that it worked) The second meal I had was the Margherita Grilled Flatbread — The sauce was incredible. And it had just the right amount of cheese on it to fit the flat bread taste. i Recommend this to college students or anyone looking for a delicious light meal.

Sandella’s Flatbread Café’s are apparently a big chain found in many states all over the country. I went for lunch today for the first time. A few blocks from campus(SJSU) gives it at least one star. Clean, fast service. Nice color scheme too, lots of earth tones. The people behind the counter weren’t the friendliest in the world but they weren’t grumpy either. Since it’s intersession, there wasn’t a line but when the students return, that will change I’m sure. Most everything on the menu involves a flatbrad: cold wraps, hot wraps, paninis(only on flatbread), grilled flatbread(basically a thin crust pizza), and quesdillas(thin crust pizza with a top). They do have a few chopped salads that would be perfect as a side, not necessarily your main entrée, as well as rice bowls that are basically some type of protein(chicken or black beans), cheese, and/or veggies over fajita-seasoned white rice served in a toasted flatbread shell. I had the Tuscan Chicken Panini — grilled chicken, sun-dried tomatoes and red onion in a creamy pesto sauce(I prefer a non-creamy) topped with mozzarella cheese and fresh basil leaves. I would have liked a little more garlic and less cheese but it was pretty good overall. Next time I will order a side salad to balance it all out. My co-worker had the Pesto Chicken Grilled Flatbread — grilled chicken red bell peppers, tomatoes and mozzarella with the same creamy pesto sauce. It was about 9-inches across and she couldn’t finish it all. There are the usual fountain-style, serve yourself drinks, and fresh brewed iced tea. They only had Equal, no Splenda or Sweet & Low. The flatbread is all natural, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients, 0 grams of fat, no trans fat and low in calories — — - it’s what are put on them, or filled with, that is loaded with fat and calories. My only gripe is that the menu is a giant letter board up high behind the counter. It’s tedious to have to stand there staring up at the thing trying to decide between at least 30 items.(OK, there are little paper menus too but that big board in the sky is still annoying.) Good food fast. I’ll probably go back again.

I came here for dinner the other night with my favorite MILF before going ice skating and Christmas in the Park-ing. It is new and they use flatbread for almost all of their food items! A great new concept! I ordered the Margherita Flatbread Pizza which was under $ 6. It was ready very fast but maybe it’s because there was no line. The pizza was actually pretty big and fed me and my friend! The toppings were plentiful but the flatbread was a little soggy in the middle probably due to the thinness of it. I did enjoy the pizza very much because it was healthy and tasty. I would definitely come back here but want to try their quesadillas next time!

COMINGSOON to downtown San Jose! This looks absolutely delicious. I’m already a fan just from reading about their delicious brick-oven flatbread, quesadillas, and wraps! I’m so excited to have more healthy eating options in the area. Their website provides an interesting look at the history of «flatbreads» — the«original bread.» Regardless of its origins, I love carbs.
