I like the place when it was open. They had a good full service bar with generous pours. Does anybody know why it closed?

I don’t know why I keep coming, the salads always taste old, the chicken tastes like play dough and nothing is fresh. Completely overpriced for the quality. They think they can make up for it in quantity by dumbing a bunch trash on to your plate. You can literally taste the freezer burn. I’m really surprised I haven’t gotten food poisoning from this place yet… Yuck!

This place usually pretty good but when you get there and the waitress is cussing and saying she’s get«drunk tonight» just blows me away! Had to wait for our drinks, didn’t refill one drink AND when you get served coffee and don’t get any utensils But they give you a straw to stir your coffee pissed me off! The manager was there she heard her employer and maybe they had an off day but come on now where the hell is the professionalism these days…

Consistent great service with a roomy dining area. Never overcrowded and always pleasing. I hope this place receives enough consistent clientele in order to stay open for more years to come.

Went here last night with my bf. Arrived about 35 mins before closing, so was expecting a good but fairly quick meal. First impression? Pretty ok, not very busy, but clean. The counter person was VERY pleasant… The stars are all for her, but even she couldn’t save dinner. Ordered the steak and potatoes, he a chicken avocado sandwich. We DID get the orders quickly, but the quality was horrible! I asked for a well done steak but what I got was a too done steak. It was extremely hard to cut and was drowning in this weird brown sweet(wth?) gravy sauce. The mashed potatoes were over seasoned and topped with turkey gravy/horseradish cream cause. Again. Too much! The asparagus was the best part of my plate, but I only had four of them for $ 14.99 I wasn’t expecting an eyes-rolling-back-into-your-head experience but honestly… The steak seemed precooked. As for his sandwich, it was all right, nothing special! The chicken was a filet with some veggies on it served with fries. Around $ 11. Could’ve been more seasoned. The fries were on point! I really want to give another for the awesome woman in the front, but I can’t give the overall restaurant even 3 stars. She even gave us coffee to go for free. Still! It just would be lying.

It’s alright. I went here with a couple friends so we explored the menu. The environment and feel of the restaurant make me feel likes it’s a fancier fast food restaurant. We ordered calamari as an appetizer. The breeding seemed to constantly fall off the squid. We also ordered chicken walnut salad and BBQ pizza which seemed to be okay. My friend said that his garlic chicken alfredo was very thick and was very filling. My personal experience was a little different compared to my friends. I ordered their famed half rotisserie chicken. The chicken was well cooked and soft but the lemon vinaigrette was much too oily. The side that I ordered was the half artichoke with an aioli sauce. I DONOT recommend the artichoke because they grilled it for too long even the heart was not up to par. If I could I would give this a 2.5 rating but I can’t and my friends agree on 3 stars.

Guys this place has the setting… has the bar… has the entertainment… has the party snacks at the bar. What’s missing is the original cooks who opened this place?!? My family would gladly come to dine weekly if the quality of food had stayed consistent & unfortunately it hasn’t. I used to order the Salmon with Risotto & it was delicious… but now the fish is served dry while the risotto is no longer holding a buttery taste. In our last experience we ordered 4 plates &2 were good(pork chops & kids plate pizza) yet more commonly members of our family were let down(meatballs & sausage, chicken with pesto noodles). I could say more… but this place isn’t worth my dime anymore unless it’s at the bar… believe me we’ve tried to wait for it to get better… but it’s going the wrong way despite all it’s potential!

We LOVE it here. Kids eat free on weekdays, they ALWAYS have the Sharks on, and the food is delicious, the helpings are large, and they have free wi-fi. No complaints here. I definitely recommend it for families.

Pretty disappointed with this location. Chicken was dry lack flavored and not the Sonoma chicken I’m used too. Only positive is the new location is big and has a nice bar. But the food reminds me of Boston market rather than the original semi clean somewhat dingy spot. Its almost like they tried to make this a fancy sit down version but totally forgot about the chickens. And I thing the prices are higher at this location. Just not the Sonoma chicken I remember.

I have come here several times for the past 3 years and have been a bit disappointed each time. I still remember when I had ordered a chicken sandwich and the chicken was surprisingly extremely dry! Like chewing-on-leather-that-sticks-to-your-teeth dry! You’re called Sonoma CHICKEN Coop! Anyway, I vowed never to come again, but I broke that promise a handful of times because the boy enjoys going here for its closeness to home. The next couple times, I ordered things other than chicken. For example, I ordered the rib eye with a garlic spread. The garlic spread ruined the already ruined(asked for medium rare — got medium well) steak. The last time, which was this Saturday, I ordered the half-rack of ribs that came with coleslaw and fries. My boyfriend ordered the steak medium rare blackened. Both these dishes were the best we’ve had at a Sonoma Chicken Coop. The steak was juicy and perfectly medium rare. The ribs were huge and fell off the bone with ease. In terms of service, it’s so-so. Nothing special to note. I probably still wouldn’t go here voluntarily, and I certainly wouldn’t go here just for their ribs or steak. I think this SCC should focus more on their chicken dishes since they don’t seem to be particularly too good at making it.

I came here with a friend the other day to settle my hunger pains when one doesn’t eat for more than 9 hours, so we decided to come here and than take back to another friend’s house. Venue: Located in a stripmall off Capitol Expwy, we drove in in to a less crowded parking space. We entered and the restaurant was near vacant so we took our time selecting our dinners Entrees: I ordered the Salmon Risotto with a side of Leeky Mashed Potatoes while my friend ordered the Chicken Fettucini. Service: The cashier lady was kind and prompt Now this is where it went downhill. When we got back to my friend’s house we continued to open and eat our food. — 1 star: The salmon was underdone having the slight gelatin center as a culprit. –1 star: The Leeky mashed potatoes was dry which left the gravy ontop as a thin layer. –1 star: Food had no flavor! Their lucky their service saved them.

This place could be better, the location in Downtown San Jose, Campbell, and Skyport all seem to be great, why does this location suck so much? If I had a choice I would not come back to this location. On a Sunday night during peak dinner hours my friends and I decided we wanted to eat Red Robin, but when we went there there was a really long wait and we didn’t want to wait. So we drove around and decided to eat Sonoma Chicken Coop since it looked like there was barley anyone there. Should have took this as a bad sign. There were probably 2 other parties there. The service sucked! The girl who took my order made no eye contact ever, didn’t even smile while I was looking at her. Like seriously you suck. Anyways, my bf ordered the spaghetti and I ordered the alfredo chicken and we shared the buffalo wings. Our food both sucked, my bf hated his spaghetti and sausage, they boil there sausage here and it was so soggy, there was no typical sausage snap when you bite into it. Soggy and gross. On the other hand my dish was just poorly prepared, I always get the alfredo when I go to Sonoma Chicken Coop, but this time it sucked. Bleh, not going to this location again. So why the 2 stars? The buffalo wings were surprisingly good! The only problem I had with it was that the bigger pieces were a bit cold on the inside! Uhhh, the cooks should learn how to cook food, they want to be cooks. Sonoma your employees and food suck at this location.

Compared to Campbell, Almaden & downtown… this location just isn’t good. I tried emailing the manager listed on their website( ) but I got a bounce back that the mailbox was full, um yeah. Rationale for the low score: 1. Service was lacking /under staffed maybe? I showed up earlier than the other person I was meeting and went to the bar to get a drink while I waited. Nobody was serving, in either counter. I walked back and forth and eventually gave up. When the other person arrived, someone was there ready to take our order at the front counter, but we needed a few mins with the menu. When we were ready, she was nowhere to be found. I think she may have been serving the bar.? Seems like this may be an under-staffing issue. 2. Beer. No Sonoma Chicken Coup Beer… whhhaaaaa? The beer options were not good. No IPA? No SCC beer? I mean I like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but at a restaurant I associate with beer, I found it bizarre that the options were so little. 3. The restaurant was messy We went to sit in a booth after putting our order in. Every booth was messy — tons of crumbs, etc. Every single one! We eventually flagged down a busboy who promptly helped us & was really friendly — he mentioned his shift had just started. So, this may be more of a «whoever leaves right before 5:30 didn’t leave him with very good condition» kinda feedback. 4. No ambiance. The separation of the bar & the restaurant was really weird. Very disjointed. It was like 2 different places. The restaurants I’ve been to before for SCC were buzzing. Excitement. Bands. Fun times at the bar or restaurant. This one just kinda felt dead. A bunch of people were in the bar — but that was far away. I like the usual SCC vibe I’d gotten in the past. 5. No nutrition info posted on the website. it’s 2014. I expect that by now. Usual food though –no complaints except the terrible piece of pizza that came along with the salad. yikes that was bad.

I come here for one thing, and it is always the same one thing each and every time… Half of a Rotisserie Chicken. Rooster Booster BBQ Sauce. Fries(Steamed Green Beans when I’m feeling healthy) For the prices, the portions are plentiful. Probably not the BEST entrees but they’re sure better/healthier than fast food. 15% off your purchase when you check-in on Unilocal

Okay so I went here once, years and years ago and because my experience was so bad we never went back again. My kids ordered the mac n cheese, my pretty much sister in law ordered the chicken caesar salad and I ordered the chicken. The mac n cheese tasted like bland cafeteria food and the caesar salad was so drenched in dressing that the lettuce was swimming in it. It reminded me over priced cafeteria food and I’m actually scared to go back. I might give it one more try but I’m not too sure.

This place is alright. The food is okay, but it is kinda pricey. Chicken Parmesan is the only food I really eat here. I’m not a huge fan of the pesto, but I just mix it into my food. Last time I ate here the chicken was a bit dry, but it was edible. The main thing I usually come here for is their dessert. I love the hockey puck!!! That’s all I will come for. Sadly I think they took it off their menu. If that’s gone then I am definitely not coming back.

Doesn’t have the same dining aura as the other chicken coops. Kind of an internet company cafeteria feel during the weekdays, but they’re really good at letting you use your Unilocal check-in discount. I come here if I’m sick of the fast food tastes around the evergreen area. Their quality of food is a lot better compared to a Chili’s or Applebee’s imo.

I’ve also been to the Coop in DTSJ and Campbell… DTSJ and Campbell Coop do not really have convenient parking, whereas Capitol has a public lot shared with the rest of the shopping plaza… Campbell is by far my preferred Coop to go to even though it’s furthest away from me… I guess because I personally think they provide the best customer service and their quality of food tastes the best… Their portions are enough to fill you up… so when you do go, may I suggest ordering: –The calamari for appetizers… –For entrée: the Skillet Chicken(or is it Chicken Skillet? lol) Carbonara –For dessert: The Banana Phyllo Sundae –Cocktails: Pineapple Upside Down Cake – well, cocktails are always good… just ask the bartender to create your poison :) –Also, the last time I went to the Coop(on Capitol) I checked in on Unilocal, and this pop-up came up saying I could get 10% off on my entire order… so definately look into that… I don’t know how often that comes up though… also if you have that one app(uggh, I forgot what it’s called… you can get it on google play. apple store on android or iphone, basically it’s an app with all these coupons/discounts you can get on restaurants, carwashes, etc)

This place is not good. I came here around 3pm on a Thursday, completely dead maybe 4 other people in the whole restaurant. Sat in the bar area, ordered a beer, ordered food. I had the chicken carbonara. i wish i hadnt. The food took a good/borderline unacceptable timeframe to come out, given the amount of people in the place. When the food finally came, i felt it reminiscent of college dining hall food. Joy. It came accompanied with two rather old looking slices of pizza(why), it looked inedible so i didnt eat it, logical. My carbonara was heavily sauced, poured over what tasted like uncle bens rice, and veggies that seemed like they came from the frozen food isle in the supermarket. The chicken was tender and pretty good, but masked and brought down by the sauce. Do yourself a favor, try out the Red Lobster down the street, i hear they remodeled.
