Perfect for big groups — order and pay at the register and they bring your food to the table. Food tasted very fresh, lots of selections.

Located across the street from San Pedro Square, SCC is one of the few places open on a Sunday morning in downtown San Jose. Recently stopped here before the 1:00pm curtain call of Book of Mormon at Broadway San Jose, hoping for brunch. However, they no longer offer breakfast items. Ate a burger instead. Patty was rubbery but the garnishes were plentiful and saved the dish. I filled up on the fries, the mound of blue cheese and the huge piece of roasted red bell pepper. A couple of friends split some sort of salmon wrap. Another friend got her usual roast chicken and walnut salad. I forgot what my last 2 friends ate but I know they shared a sandwich. Nice orchid blossoms decorated our plates but would rather SCC put more effort into upgrading the taste of the food. We sat under the tin roofed arbor on the patio which started getting uncomfortably hot as the morning progressed. The tables under the palm trees were significantly cooler. Live entertainment started around noon. While food is no longer memorable, the location still can’t be beat. Located next to a huge parking garage, it was next to empty on a Sunday morning and we had no problem finding space.

This is within walking distance of my job and I come here fairly often. Service is good, very efficient and I rarely have to wait more than a minute or two. I always get the same thing, chicken salad w/a slice of pizza. It’s ok. Typical chain restaurant type salad, nothing special but it’s ok. People who work here are friendly. Lot’s of seating areas both inside and out. The menu is varied but again, its all pretty much chain restaurant type food.

I’m very sad to report that the success of the Sonoma chicken coop you might remember from 5+ years ago is now gone. The large Campbell location is closed, poised to open as a brewery. In fact, the only real location left is downtown. However, that location isn’t even reported on their website anymore! We arrived to an empty interior on a Friday night, already not a good sign. Some of our favorite dishes are now gone from the menu and their original brews are definitely gone — so disappointing. However, their classics remain and are still pretty tasty. I ordered my usual chicken coq a vin. I didn’t order it with mashed potatoes, but I definitely should have. I never thought leeks would brighten a dish like that. This was a better prepared chicken than I’ve had in the past. It wasn’t watery The sauce coated the chicken perfectly. As always, their bread is delicious(when are we just going to call it pizza?) They do have a garage next door that they validate, but our truck was too tall to get in. However, we found street parking right in front of the restaurant. SCORE! I doubt we will see Sonoma chicken coop return to its former glory, and I’m sad to say they seem to have thrown in the towel. I hope they can reimagine the design and come back better than ever.

I went to his place to watch the Warriors game a few weekends ago. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. We ordered a pizza but they ended up giving us pasta but fixed the mistake with no issues. The food isn’t amazing but this place isn’t about amazing food it’s more of a hangout spot. I’ll definitely stop by again.

Went there on a Sunday afternoon as a friend was playing with his band on the patio. The food is less than average for the price. On the heavy side, wings have a lot of(cheap) sauce on them, pizzas are really soggy, thick, not cooked enough… Other dishes were drenched in sauce. Nothing gourmet. I had the feeling I was eating in a cheap restaurant chain. 9 $ for a mojito. That drink was OK. It’s a 2 to 2.5 food-wise. Outdoor seating is nice for a drink(they take reservations)

I’ve always enjoyed coming here before a Shark’s game: all the Sharks fans will come here the night of a home game, and their efficiency does not disappoint even if the place looks completely packed. My favorite is definitely their chicken penne pasta. I was actually pretty sad that the Campbell location closed, as I used to go there every now and then after work! I hope this place stays opened!

Came here to celebrate my friends graduation! We had 2 tables reserved for 20 of us. I ordered their Fiery chicken parm sandwich and a lot of other people ordered the half chicken meal since this place is known for their chicken. My sandwich was really spicy just the way I like it! It’s basically a chicken parmigiana with cheese and a ghost pepper sauce which really kicks up the heat! The half chicken that came with a side was enormous! Maybe it seems large because I shop at an Asian market, but wow this could barely fit on the plate! All of the sauces complimented the juicy meat perfectly. The food was good but what I like the most is the atmosphere. Not only is this located across San Pedro Square, but the outside seating looks really nice and theres a bar and TV’s for when a game is playing. It’s definitely a nice place to eat and sit in the sun. Also, make sure to park in the structure and get your parking validated inside the restaurant.

Sonoma Chicken Coop(all 3⁄4 in the South Bay) are always a great spot for social gatherings. The food is average(the rotisserie chicken and pastas are can’t go wrong dishes for around $ 10) and it’s very casual and perfect for meeting up with a bunch of friends. Their new brunch menu is pretty good too, with eggs benedict, buffalo chicken burritos and more that are all pretty good. Endless mimosas are definitely worth the $ 12, the bartenders are really helpful. The place has tons of tv’s for sports and seating room. I’ll continue to go for bday parties and more gatherings.

What a cool place! It’s super convenient and easy for parties small or large. You don’t have to worry about splitting the bill cause you pay at the front. It’s casual yet cool. There is a huge variety of dishes. They’ve got pizza, salad, pastas, sandwiches, delicious desserts, and really tasty side dishes… I couldn’t decide what side dish to get so I ended up getting 3 side dishes: Artichoke, pasta marinara, and green beans… Since it IS called Sonoma CHICKEN Coop, and it was my FIRST time there, I thought I might as well get their specialty. You can choose between three sauces to get your chicken, which I opted for the lemon caper vinaigrette but asked for it on the side. I tried their banana bread pudding… my gosh it was so good, I squealed out loud, and don’t care who heard. As for my mega meal of dark chicken, and 3 sides. All of it was really good. It’s not an exquisite meal but it was so yum! Would come back here again, if it were in LA.

Uninspired. Felt more like a chain than the other restaurants nearby. Went with 2 others, food was okay, wait was a bit longer than reasonable considering the location was almost empty. I did like their dessert.

The night scene overhere is jumping! As we entered, the front had some palm trees with a grand ol’ entrance. you know it is about to go down! Entered the courtyard and the dance floor, some couples were already dancing. We walked passed that and the seats and into the bar area. The local brewery, Strike was there. They have some awesome beers! The company representative let us try some beers and he was really personable. We had some beers and shots and sat around the courtyard next to the fireplace watching couples dance and we danced in our chairs; as well as, by our seating area. Once, our songs came on, we moved onto the dance floor and danced! But when, «Uptown Funk» came on by Bruno Mars(my favorite song of last year), it was on! The DJ looked 60 years young and he was doing it! Excellent DJ. Better than 90 percent of Seattle’s DJs. He took requests. Just a phenomenal job. Afterwards, Strike was checking out and saw us and threw us a free t-shirt. All-in-all, a great night!

This review is based entirely on the music and drinks and not the food. Our first night in San Jose and we are impressed. I mean really impressed. We heard some music and stop at this open door patio restaurant. They had a dj set up and an outside bar. The restaurant part is for diners to eat in I assume but also for people to use the restrooms if they are enjoying the outside bar. This night, they had a few guys there giving their information about a brewery close by and samples of the beers. The beers were really good by the way(shout out to STRIKE Brewing Company) We listened and entertained them and got us a beer and a few drinks while dancing the night away to Hip Hop and R&B. I am not a dancer but he was playing some great music and my husand and I ended up spending hours at this place just enjoying the weather and pre-valentine’s day! I don’t know if music is every weekend but when we visit again, this is going to be one of our first stops.

Long line, long wait for very forgettable food. The one redeeming feature was good bbq sauce for the rotisserie chicken. Oh, and a friendly cashier. The grilled veggies(read: almost entirely onions) were undercooked and slightly cool. And the artichoke had no meat on it. I won’t go back.

The food was definitely EHHHH. I ordered grilled cod with brown rice. I barely ate half of my fish and 2 bites of my rice. Seriously… I was expecting healthy and delicious. what I got was frozen fish with about 2 cups of carbs. Nasty, simply put. They get a star for the beautiful purple orchid on the plate. I could give Sonoma Chicken Coop another try if I stick to the simple salad they serve, I guess. For now, I don’t have any plan to come back.

This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. i placed an order to go, a company lunch. Not only did the mess up my burger(I asked for well-done they gave me a medium rare) They screwed up the entire order. 1. It wasn’t ready when I went to pick it up 2. They were still moving slow, I had to wait for my food even though I called way ahead of time. 3. They didn’t give me a receipt and I called and have to talk to 5 different people who couldn’t give me a receipt until I finally talked to the owner on Monday who emailed it to me. It seriously was so frustrating, maybe it was a bad day for them, but I don’t want to go back after that hassle.

I don’t ever want to go here again. It was kind of messy, a coat of paint could go a long way. The lights on the sign are almost all out. I ordered a french dip, usually safe enough. There were burnt pieces in between the meat that didn’t look like burnt meat. The au jus was ok, the whole thing could’ve been warmer. On the plus side, it’s not an expensive place. But, considering there’s so many places that look fantastic, I noticed after leaving da coop, I would never come back here. There was a New Orleans restaurant about 2 doors down that smelled great! Also, there’s a La Victoria’s around the corner. To each their own, but I won’t be back here. :/

Order up at the register take your food for here or to go, simple as that. So DTSJ was dead that Memorial Day Monday and we had a struggle for dinner choice before a night of drinks and dance. My good friend took us to Sonoma Chicken Coop since it was quick and good. I ordered a rib plate… lol that sounds massive for a girl like me, but I can handle. But it literally came with a half rack of ribs, coleslaw, french fries and a slice of pizza, if i remember correctly, it was all $ 13. Kind of pricey — but I think it was worth the portion. By the end of the meal, I was stuffed. Literally — why the slice of pizza? LOL… almost as if they were trying to make me feel worse about myself. Regardless, it was a good dinner, A-OK = 3 Stars… not my absolute favorite meat spot, but I’m glad I got to try.

I love this location! I came here with a few coworkers for lunch this past Monday around 12PM. Usually, I am weary of going anywhere near San Pedro Square Market too often because it’s sometimes unmanageable having to wait for a table then deal with slow service. However, I had never been around there for lunch until this week and what a pleasant surprise it was. I love Sonoma Chicken Coop and usually go to the one on Skyport Drive since it is more spacious. This one, though smaller, has a nicer outside patio and bar. It’s perfect for a quick lunch during the week. I ordered the Bistro Steak Salad and enjoyed it very much. Fresh, tasty and a mix of both healthy and satisfying. :-)

Service was very slow. Even though the place was mostly empty(about 5 tables), it took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. The wings we ordered as an appetizer was really good, crispy with a delicious sweet barbecue sauce. The citrus grove salad I got was good but they completely disregarded my personalization request of dressing on the side. The focaccia bread served with the salad is good, seems like a pizza slice go me with cheese and onion on too! The soup of the day of chicken tortilla was good, especially with the avocado slices. Lots of seating area and the cashier was very nice. I would come again but only if I have more time given the speed. I would hope their lunch time service is faster.
