This place is new and across the street from city hall. The staff told me that they made their yogurt with fresh fruit mixed in. You can get a small yogurt plus two fruits of your picking for $ 3.99. I was interested so I tried the yogurt with guava and banana. It sounded great on paper but after tasting it, I was a little disappointed. The guava. while had a great flavor, had way too much seeds inside and got stuck between more teeth or I kept on having to spit it out of my mouth every two second. also the banana and the guava were frozen prior to being mixed so the texture of the fruit just didn’t taste right with the yogurt. I really really liked the yogurt though. They said it was vanilla based but I didn’t taste the vanilla. It’s hard to explain the flavor but it was good. Overall I really liked the yogurt but the fruit wasn’t doing it for me. maybe next time I will try other fruits that don’t have seed in them.

I wonder if this ice cream is home made or not because it was really great. I had the piña colada and 2 scoops which was yummy. The lady working there was really nice and friendly. I will try out the tostilocos next time for sure.

Sweet Express just opened up about two weeks ago across from City Hall. The place looks low-key and unassuming from the outside, lacking the standard corporate décor you’d find at a chain ice cream or froyo shop. If there’s ever a time not to judge a book by its cover, it’s for Sweet Express. I’ll keep it real… Pretty much any place that serves Treat ice cream starts off with four stars as their baseline. When you throw in my favorite Treat flavors like macapuno(young coconut) and black marble raspberry, that just seals the deal. Furthermore, Sweet Express has custom, made-to-order froyo. It’s tart, vanilla, 5% fat frozen yogurt, blended with frozen fruit of your choosing(e.g., strawberries, blueberries, pear, guava, peaches). Small portions are huge and remind of the small-yet-big sizes at Sweet Retreat in Almaden. It doesn’t stop there at ice cream and yogurt. Other sweet treats such as frozen fruit drinks and crepes are also on the menu. Service is friendly, too. Far from stingy about offering samples! Go check out this new downtown sweet spot!
