I used to eat here all of the time and it was excellent. Something must have changed. I went there for lunch today and got a burrito. I took one bite and knew the carnitas was rotten.decayed.very old. I had a couple of more bites as it cost me $ 10 but it started to make me wretch so I left my plate and walked out of there in a hurry. Now I feel sick at the stomach. I can’t get rid of the taste of rotten pork .even tried chewing gum! No, I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Used to like this taqueria but it has fallen off completely… The food is bland the chips are stale flat out not what I was expecting. Definitely won’t be returning.

Made the mistake of ordering nachos here. Old stale chips from what tasted like 5 days ago. Grosse

This is, manos down, one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in SJ. They open early and close late. If you go in a few times, you’ll start to recognize the hard-working and friendly people behind the counter. I’m not one to spill my heart out to strangers, but I went in to pick up a to-go order, and the guy behind the counter could tell something was up. He gave me some uplifting sage advice, and I walked out with my hands full of delicious food and my shoulders lifted of some of their worries. Psychology visits aside, I love that they have a full wall of pictures of their food. They have a lot of traditional Mexican food, but also offer up way more veggie options than most places around here(like the veggie tamales!). There’s no fountain machine for drinks, but they do offer some bottled beverages. And if you ask, they’ll grab the horchata from the back. The salsa bar and chips are also solid. If you’re in the mood for a burrito, get it «wet». It’ll be one of the biggest beasts you’ll cram into your mouth.

Outstanding customer service. Prices are good and there is plenty of room to sit. The food came out fast and it was phenomenal! I had the carne asada tacos. I would give this place 5 stars but their salsas were disappointing.

Was in desperate search of a good burrito in San Jose when on my way to the caltrain and this place looked like a winner! Good reviews, authentic-looking interior, all this talk of free chips and salsa(but all divey taquerias are like that?). HOWEVER. When I unwrapped the top of my veggie burrito I knew something was wrong. You can tell by the wrap of the tortilla. It was loose and floppy and that isn’t right. Took a bite. Concerns confirmed. Rice lacked flavor. Beans too. Lettuce didn’t help, just diluted the whole thing even more and created sad loose space that contributed to floppy wrapping. And I think that’s all that came inside this sad excuse for a veggie burrito. Back at the salsa bar, chips tasted like they came from a grocery store. Only the hot salsa was worth trying, and was pretty good; the others were disappointing and bland. But not even the hot salsa could save my meal, which I only finished out of spite(I was so excited to come here — I NEEDED A BURRITO). Sad I wasted my hunger here. Props to this place for super friendly and fast service and cheap prices but. If you’re looking for a real tasty meal, this is not the place to go. Quality rice and beans are the bare essentials for good Mexican and this place missed the mark.

This place has great burritos and tacos! The carne asada burrito is super yummy and not super greasy :) There’s also free chips and salsa! They even include a bag of free chips if you take your food to-go, which is great since most restaurants only give you free chips and salsa if you eat in. Overall, great service and it’s walking distance from SJSU and there’s plenty of seats. The man that took my order is super nice and always greets me! Overall, great food and great service!

I come here so often that they have memorized my order whenever I walk into the door, lol. I always order their taco plate, it’s delicious. It’s not the most amazing Mexican food I have ever tried, but it’s authentic and delicious. The staff is really friendly too. Their chips & salsa bar is really cool, you can get as much as you want. This place is really affordable. The thing that probably keeps me coming back the most(besides the tasty food) is that they offer a 10% student discount for SJSU students. All you have to do is show your SJSUID.

Not bad, but not great either. I loved that they had a salsa bar with cilantro and onions. Their salsas need a bit more work though. The very hot was hot, but didn’t have that much flavor. I liked the mild and medium red salsas a little better because it had more depth of flavor. I got the Al Pastor nacho fries and the al pastor was good, but the fries were not crispy at all. Albeit, they did give me a lot of food which kind of made up for it. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it again, but if I’m in the area, I’d go back.

My ONLY place for a super al pastor burrito. There is no other like it. I LOVEIT. Thus is how it’s odered. Super Burrito — Double flour tortilla — Al Pastor(double meat) — No beans — No guac(avocado slices instead) — No Pico De Gallo salsa(«medium«heat salsa from the saksa bar. Cure the munchies and TRYIT!

This Place is horrible. Does not deserve 4 stars. It smells it was also hot and flys everywhere. and they sell no alcohol. I still have them a chance because of the reviews it had. I got super suiza. It’s a super quesadilla. Meat tastes old. It had a ton of sour cream. And they a have a self serve salsa bar salsas were just ok. They also have cut unions and cilantro that looked like it was cut last week. Not kidding. GOSOMEWHEREELSE!!! Don’t listen to these other people on here !! They were nice though.

I was pretty much sold after hearing about the complimentary chips and salsa! Service: Very friendly and quick! Food: Delicious! I ordered carne aside street tacos, which were surprisingly tasty and filling. My boyfriend ordered a super burrito with carne asada, which he said he really enjoyed. And again, FREECHIPSANDSALSA! Price: Can’t beat it! They also offer a 10% discount for college students(although I’m not sure if this is restricted to SJSU students) This is a great place for a quick, tasty meal. I will definitely come back again!

Best Camarones Rancheros I’ve had. Great meal. Fresh, fresh, fresh. Freshly prepared dish. Nothing was prepared prior except the beans & rice. Didn’t even eat the corn torts. The freshly made sauce mixed well with rice.

A very hard place to rate… I got the super burrito with grilled chicken. I have to admit I was a little disappointed at the restaurant. The burrito itself is huge, but the grilled chicken was TOO grilled, so that it was just mostly dry and had none of that great grilled flavor. Also, the pico and spanish rice(which was the mushy kind) were super tasty, but they were all on one side of the burrito away from the kinda tasteless chicken. The free salsa is also a little bland, but if I had to choose a fave, it would probably be the red«firey» one. HOWEVER, all of that changed when I was eating my leftovers the day after. The chicken had a chance to marinate and moisten, and I poured all of my salsa all over it and ate it like a burrito bowl– DELICIOUS! So it looks like all they had to do was mix the ingredients more and/or flavor the meat/don’t grill it so much! Truly kind guy at the register and very fair pricing(a little over $ 7 for a huge burrito with generous proportions of meat).

Okay, so I waited a full day so I could simmer down and give an honest review; here we go. «What’s that smell?»: Right when you enter the restaurant, you get a whiff of some indescribable stench that is circulating through the air. What is it exactly? I have no idea, but my hunger forced me to quickly pick something off of the menu and place my order. «Excuse me chef, I think you forgot to add a dash of flavor to my tamales before you reheated them in the microwave»: I ordered a #23, which is two pork tamales with a side of Mexican rice, refried beans, lettuce with sour cream, and a small cup of some oily pink liquid that I didn’t touch. First, the rice and beans were as bland as can be. Second, the lettuce and sour cream… well, it’s used as a topping, so I can’t say anything good or bad about it. Third, and most important, the tamales lacked flavor and were dry; the use of a microwave to reheat them was pretty obvious. «Thank God for the staff»: The good customer service is the only reason why this restaurant gets two stars. I was greeted when I entered the restaurant, he brought my food to my table, and he retrieved my plate after I ate. After reading my review, I know it may come as a surprise to everyone when I say that I can’t recommend eating at this restaurant.

This place is amazing for yummy taqueria food! #32 was fulfilling and tasted great. Staff was very friendly and patient because it was my boyfriend and my first time. FREE chips and salsa!!! Great for lunch and it wasn’t too busy so we received our food fairly quick.

Complimentary chips and salsa station? Count me in! I was on the hunt for a good sized and tasty burrito, and was able to find it here. I feel like the burritos were a little overpriced, but that’s just me. The people who prepped my food and rang me up were also very pleasant and made my experience a good one.

The carne asada taco was fairly dry. The pozole was good in the sense that it was hearty, but the soup didn’t have much flavor. It’s crawling with SJSU students in a somewhat annoying way and sketchy half-homeless people come through here too. In terms of ambiance, it has none. Our hungry hero only went because he was living in the neighborhood at the time and everything else was closed at the time. Sadly, there’s not a lot of other better late night choices for cheap food in downtown SJ. PROS: — Open late on weekends. — Free chips and salsa. — It really appeals to the local student population. Guess ya can’t complain about a $ 6 meal. CONS: — The service is a bit rough around the edges. — A bit of a questionable crowd and not much in terms of ambiance or Mexican flavor.
