Temple Bar & Lounge

Have you ever woken up the next morning, look at your hand, and wonder why you have a stamp that says «Temple» on your right hand? Or does that just happen to me? I love that they stamp your hand to help remind you of where you’ve gone the night before LOL.
This place always has a crowd and some nights the lines will be longer than other nights, but that’s okay because there’s NO COVER CHARGE! The security that you go through is strict. They will look at you and your ID to make sure that it is actually you. They’re also strict on their rules, I came here with friends last month and my friend was denied entrance because of the dress code that they have. I only come here to dance and not drink because their drinks are mediocre for the price that they charge. I can always dance to the music they play at Temple. The DJ knows how to get the crowd movin’ & groovin’! But please prepare to come here and sweat while dancing and squeezing through a tight crowd!

I always have a good time here! The DJs are on point & always take requests. I usually go to the lower level hiphop floor & it’s almost always packed but if you like hiphop, this is one of the best dance spots in town!
The Temple promoters always help you out but Ozzy is the best. He always makes sure me & my friends are taken care of.

The place is always crowded and the reason for that in my opinion is because most people are there to take away a fun story to tell their peeps the day after. Take for example, my experiences. Most of the time, a fight will breakout (usually because of some kind of harassment, probably of a sexual nature) and people will rush through a cramped passage full of people to escape security. All the while, you will be trampled and shoved into others, maybe even breaking an ankle.
I think if you are looking to just relax and have a chill time with good company, you should probably head elsewhere. But if you want to have a story to tell or just love being in the company of a bunch of strange dudes, come here. I know I will be back for sure, it’s my go to place with my homeboys. If you’re into cougars, I think you’ve found the right place.

This is more like 3 ½ stars than a 3. Me and my fiancé like going here for the music and dj’s. This place definitely has great drinks. The only knock on this place is the bar isn’t the biggest so it can get pretty crowded around 11:30 pm. The location is great though. Plus there’s a parking garage across the street.

Temple Thursday’s cool lounge to party at. Don’t let the lack of lines scare you. It gets crackin around 11 pm, that’s jus when the hood rats come alive. I love the vibe so you’ll always catch me at this spot thursday.

This place is horrible! It’s so crowded and there is no place to dance. People are rude and very agressive. They push, yell… The bar is close to the entrance, the dancefloor in the middle and the bathrooms at the back. So it’s a nightmare when you are on the dance floor and want to get a drink or go the bathroom, you have to cross the crowd and try to make your way between packed people dancing.
One guy got super agressive with us because we puted an empty glass on his table. He was like «get the fuck out, it’s my table» and wanted to start a fight. We were like «we sorry, we apologize for this» and he kept trying to push my friend who’s super relax and would never fight. We left the bar scared that the guy would follow us. It’s just a bad place with bad people.

The bar is pretty cool but beware of the theifs. I literally saw a person snatching a purse from a lady and we were unable to track him down. Initially he tried snatching my wallet but he couldn’t so I was trying to observe him and it seems he left the bar from the back door which was really bad.

WARNING: THIS BAR IS INFESTED WITH THEIVES. Wish I would’ve read the reviews on here before I came. My friends and I all wore cross bodies and got our phones stolen while they were on us. These people are professionals. Wouldn’t be surprised if the staff was in on this considering the bartender never gave my friend her debit card back and security didn’t care at all that 20 PHONES WERE STOLEN IN ONE NIGHT. Ridiculous. Taking my business elsewhere.

I have been to Temple multiple times, but last night was it. Came with a group of six girls, all phones were stolen except one. We all wore crossbodys thinking it would be easier to dance and harder for someone to grab. Not the case however, they will literally unzip your purse on the dance floor and take what ever they can without you noticing THEY ARE PROFESSIONALS. We also talked with other girls later that night who were at the Temple and guess what? Most of their stuff was stolen as well. Staff and bouncers do not care in the least and appear to not be surprised about the high amount of theft that is happening. Ladies it’s not worth it to come here, and if you do be prepared to have money stolen, canceling credit cards, and purchasing new phones. Just don’t do it. Go to San Jose Bar and Grill or Tres Gringos instead.

Reluctantly came to Temple with some girlfriends a few weekends ago cos they needed to dance it out.
LADIES. BE WARNED. There’s been a high amount of theft going on at this venue. Little cute crossbody bags are NOT a good idea to be worn here. I wore one and someone unzipped it WHILE I WAS WEARING IT on the dance floor. They took my phone and my ID case with my drivers license and cards. I didn’t even notice it until the end of the night. Another girl in our group also had her stuff stolen. Their staff is neither sympathetic nor helpful in this stressful and very inconvenient situation. They wouldn’t let us back in to talk to someone until we persistently told them we got our stuff stolen! One of the bouncers asked the girls «why are you crying» when she was standing out front. When we were finally let in to fill out «paperwork» it was a white piece of paper on a clipboard. He asked me to write down my name and phone number. I said «uhh you mean my phone # of the phone that was stolen?» Not helpful. AT ALL.
There were a few police officers standing outside and one of my friends felt compelled to tell them about it. YOu know what they said? That we’re the 5^th person to tell them about that. They’re aware of the situation and told Temple about it but they have done nothing to either make their patrons aware and alert of the current situation or increase security, etc etc.
So since they’re not making an effort to alert their customers, that’s what this review is for! Please share with your friends that frequent this location!

This place gets 3 stars because it does seem like a fun place to go out in San Jose.
Music is good, size could be bigger but it’s not bad (I’ve been in worse places).
It’s just the crowd is horrible! People are constantly pushing and shoving. They’re rude. Ratchet. Really inappropriate.
I live in SF and have been to REAL ratchet clubs but none compared to the crowd at Temple.
Oh, and me and five other girls had our phones stolen in one night.
I don’t want to dock a place points off their rating because of a crowd– but if you’re looking for a fun night out, this DOES seem ideal– but if you don’t like rude folks, this probably isn’t the place for you.

Sexist and homophobic rules and staff. Rude and discriminatory. They were incredibly verbally abusive and will be reported to the better business bureau.

I found love in this club! Thank you Temple hahaha. I love this place eventhough some might say its pretty ratchet. Its free entrance, long line after 11 PM but worth it, good music, fairly small place but at least their restroom aren’t as gross as other bars. I met the love of my life here bc we share the same interest in music and for our mutual friends it was in fact my first time ever going to Temple about a year ago when i turn 21 and it was an amazing experience. I am yet to go to the one in Frisco

Very small
Obnoxious crowd
Only thing saving this place is that the bartenders are friendly & make decent drinks, but plan on it taking a while to get one if you’re in on a friday or saturday

Wow this place is beyond TERRIBLE — the bar intentionally overcharges ($ 12+ for a single shot). They will also under pour and use the cheapest well drinks and a different (lowest quality) type of liquor than what you ask for if they know you’re not looking.
Come here if you want your night to be ruined.

The venue is nice, but extremely compact. They have high ceilings, so it gives off the illusion that its more spacious than it really is.
Other than its size, its pretty cool. I went there on a Friday night and there was no cover, so it was packed. They were playing 90’s Hip Hop that night, so I was hella feelin’ the music. Drinks were normal priced. Overall, I had a good time, and I’ll most likely be back when I’m in the area again.

Also overpriced, and full of sleazy people, and scum who make the human race look bad.
Why do I think I can have fun at these places is beyond me.

Place itself was pretty small, but the music was good.
Many Indian and Asian men who were on the prowl, but at least they weren’t aggressive.

INSIDE: Linear rectangle shape to this club. Bar gets crowded due to everyone crowding behind it trying to order then there’s only so much room behind it to stand and chill with your drink. Mirrors behind you I’m sure to make it seem like the place is bigger. I’m sure people use the mirror to make sure they look ok.
Music has always been good here. Dj is in the very back behind the dance floor which isn’t that big. Very little seating areas. Screen shows music videos.
Door is always open basically the whole wall is open so it lets in cold air in the winter, but nice in the summer when it’s hot sweaty and stinky.
OVERALL: it’s okay, not my favorite place to go, but music is good just the flow is crowded and sometimes stinks by the bathrooms. Asian populated overall I’ve noticed.

This bar/​club was okay. Too crowded in my opinion.
It was so crowed we can’t even stand in one spot without getting bump into. One thing I don’t like was that liquid was leaking from the ceiling. I think they have a second floor that’s why you do with leaking liquids.
The DJ played good music though.
