Great place. Very good instructors. Professional. Price is very affordable. Don’t get wrong with the location of the class. They teach very good.

So I used to go here. It’s a great place to go to quite honestly. My time here was pretty pleasant, for the most part. I went to Than Phong for about three years, and went up to become a red belt. I made a lot of amazing friends here. It was a fun experience, and I don’t regret going here. I recommend this place if you have younger kids!

Before the Grand Master passed away, I was here for a couple of years until a month in after receiving my black belt. It was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. Tons of friends and even had a fling or two. The dojo is set up like a warehouse, but don’t let that fool you. The extra space, hard carpet, and high ceilings were all pluses, training wise. They had sandbags set up, vending machines, training gears, even weights. I was an assistant instructor but I never forced impossible stretches as the above reviewer said, but you can always tell them not to do that. Come on, they aren’t there to hurt you. The training is intense and works up a real sweat, with the occasional sparring three times a week. This was my favorite part of training, and I would do it without gear, but for kids, its extremely safe and fun. I would recommend this dojo for beginners or those that want to dabble in martial arts or mma.

I took my first martial arts class here at Than Phong Academy. It cost $ 180 dollars for 3 months with the uniform included. They have changing rooms separated by gender for you to change outfits. I decided to take up Tae Kwon Do with my buddies because I wanted to learn how to do flips and I was hoping that a martial arts that focused on kicking would help me achieve that. It was really fun and I made a lot of friends here and I have a lot of memories here even though I was only here for 3 months. There’s 2 different times to this class, one in the later after noon and the early evening. You can only attend one of them. I do not remember how many times a week we were allowed to attend. I had some friends here that were black belts and they were the instructors assistants. The head instructors are very nice and friendly and get down to business when its time. The class wasn’t really hard and they gave you a lot of time to learn the forms and get down the techniques. One of the things that the assistants do that is VERY bad for you is that at the beginning of the class, everyone stretches together. One of the stretches is the butterfly stretch and not everyone can make their knees touch the ground, especially for new comers. If you knees cannot touch the ground, the assistants will come up to you and push your knees down to the ground which causes a lot of pain the the inner thighs and causes trauma to the muscles that are being stretched. Our muscles work like rubber bands and if you force it to stretch too hard and too quickly, it will snap. They should really change that by not doing it at all. We’re stretching for a reason. At some point in the course, they make you take a test so that you can get promoted and rank up in your belts. Everyone starts off as a white belt and works their way up. You pay a fee to take the test though. Like $ 30-$ 50. I left with a yellow belt and did not feel the need to come back. So I said bye to my friends that I made there and I actually am still friends with a lot of them that I met there till this day. Theres A LOT of little kids here too. One of the cocky red belts that as like 10 years old got jumped by 20 little green belts and the red belt started crying. Priceless.
