A homely, but slutty girl to a boy. An unattractive, but rich boy to a girl. Candy to a chocoholic. Chocolate to a sugarholic. Not your first choice, but if presented to you, it’ll do. My fellow Unilocalers were right there with me through my cupcake obsession(& my bigger jean size), but lately, I could really take or leave cake. Me & the guys were walking near W. Santa Clara Street in San Jo last night when a dude pushing a cart passes us. ‘Wait, Wait!’ I tell the guys. ‘That dude’s got cake!‘ It was The Forge Cupcake Bar Inc. I don’t like chocolate cake(doesn’t stop me from eat in’ it, tho)… I almost got the churro-flavored cupcake in celebration of cinco de mayo… but I stuck with an old favorite – strawberry($ 3.) I had the cupcake for breakfast this morning(just how I roll); the strawberry cake, a pretty pink color, was still moist… lightly flavored, not too sweet. The frosting, an airy whipped cream was not very interesting & reminded me of something out of a can. Cakes & cupcakes – totally not my first-choice dessert anymore, but the cart pretty much ran right into me & I couldn’t resist.

As the second person to review Forge Cupcakes, I want to make sure that I’ve seriously analyzed this single cupcake I purchased for $ 3. Okay here we go. I noticed the guy with his cart on Santa Clara St. I pay high respect to people who are trying to make a business for themselves. After our Sharks game, he was still there, so I thought, hey I’m going to try this. That day he was selling a version of what those Hostess Cupcakes are like, cream filling in the middle of a chocolate cupcake. I felt that the cake was a little on the dry side. The frosting was really good. What I enjoyed a lot and noticed was the presentation of the cupcakes. He sells them in cups, with a skewer that prevents the cake from moving around in transit. Mad props for that. Work on the moisture and then I think you have a winner for street cart food.

Update: My wife emailed the company and got a prompt reply back telling me to come back and ask for a refund of my $ 3. I’ve since been to two more games but I’ve parked in a different lot. The cupcake stand is not on the way. At this point, I’ve added a star for the quick response, but it’s more trouble than I want for a $ 3 refund. Still was an awful cupcake. Nice enough people though.
