I came for my first time on opening night for the sharks, 10÷10÷15 and I have to say it was amazing !! I figured it could be time consuming so my boyfriend and I made a reservation right when the doors opened, we got seated pretty quickly considering there was a line out the door so get here about 15 mins before the door opens so you don’t wait long … drinks were amazing ! They had a big selection of wine, I want to tru M by Mondavi, but it is very pricey, maybe some day lol. Anyways the servers were nice great personality I had a young girl brown hair her name started with a Y or a J I don’t remeber … anyways for being a new waitress she did great ! We expect a delay as we had read on other reviews but hey we know there’s alot of people trying to eat and get out in 1 ½ hrs. we did get a little frantic once it got close to 645 but sure enough we got our entrée and even had time for dessert. We walked out with a food baby ! It has got to be the best dining experience I’ve ever had especially at an arena.(my bf and I shared the camarones a la diabla. a little spicy but it was the perfect spice. The barbacoa salad which was amazingly tasty, I had the teriyaki prime rib with green beans and mushrooms. phenomenal! And he had the bacon wrapped filet minon with spinach and scalloped potatoes. I wish I could of had a bite of his but I was too stuffed already lol we had cookies to go, I saw a table next to me order a chocolate cake that I will deff try next time) everything was priced pretty fairly especially for the quality of everything. Our go to spot before any events from now on :)!

I’ve been to The Grill before many concerts in the past year. We love the convenience and the food has been good. The prices are a little high but nothing too bad… until last night and the Shania Twain concert. All of a sudden everything is al la carte. I ordered the steak and it came alone on the plate. We had to order all the sides separately. This is so disappointing because the sides are the least expensive item and it would be so presentable instead of a single piece of meat or chicken that gets dried out alone on a dish. This is not the class of restaurant to get away with that. Come on people what can a little potatoe or pasta cost???

We ate here before the RUSH concert and it was one of the highlights of the evening. It was very cool to have access to a great place to eat on site before the concert. We received a special invitation from the restaurant and were offered a seating as concert goers a couple of weeks before the concert which I felt was awesome marketing!!! The dinner got off to a rough start. Reservations were for 5:30 but the they didn’t have it together on time. They lined us up and we waited for about 15 or 20 minutes before they finally let us in. Once in, service was great. The menu cost is right there with fine dining. Considering we were eating at the venue, its not a surprise. You wont find garlic fries or pretzels! Their food is made fresh, no reheat and serve. They have great steaks — thats what we had-, seafood and a variety of sides to satisfy anyone! An amazing wine selection gave us a great dinner wine. We were concerned about the late start — RUSH is known for starting on time! Once we told them we needed to rush(no pun intended) they got us out pretty fast! I loved the restaurant and I am looking forward to giving them another try. Hoping they’ll be able to pull things together when things get started next time!

Had dinner at The Grill before the Bette Midler concert and it was horribly disappointing. Our order was taken and the appetizer and salad arrived. It was small and nothing special, but our entrée and server were no where to be found. We were finally told that what I had ordered was no longer available and that the kitchen had not notified the servers of the issue, and also that most of the dishes on the menu were now sold out. I was served what was left, which was a pile of tasteless potatoes called a vegetarian moussaka. We weren’t even able to find a server that was not either hiding in the kitchen or being yelled at by customers, to get us a glass of wine. Our meal arrived 15 minutes before the start of the show, which was not worth taking the time to eat anyway, even though we were seated at 6:30. VERY poor form Grill kitchen! A waste of our time and money!

So my girlfriend and I went here last night to celebrate her birthday and to see the NKOTB concert. I’m glad I didn’t read the reviews prior to going, because we would have eaten elsewhere. There was a prix-fixed menu, three courses for $ 42. I had the New England clam chowder for an appetizer and it was delicious! We both ordered the prime rib topped with a jalapeño cream sauce(really tasty), and even though she got hers medium rare and mine well done, they were both cooked perfectly. My well done steak was neither burnt or dry and was very flavorful. The asiago fries it came with were a bit undercooked, but still tasted good with whole roasted garlic pieces throughout. I didn’t like the fried green beans it came with, but that’s because I don’t like green beans. I gave them to my girlfriend who loved them. The dessert was Boston crème pie which wasn’t great because the cake was really dry, so I just ate the cream and fresh fruit. Service was good and my water glass was constantly refilled without having to ask. The price was right and the food was good but for shear convenience alone, it was well worth it. I will definitely eat here again when I come for another event.

Saturday nite game at 7:30(made reservations for 6:15 and timing was perfect). Perfect parking at 6:15 in West Lot(Added bonus). Place had about 15% open tables. Seated immediately, a bit loud for conversation. Started with a nice bottle of Eruption Table Red(unusual mix of Malbec, Syrah, Mourvedre and Petit Sirah) to pair with Sesami Ahi Tuna(very fresh and well prepared — large portions) and Potato and Spring Mix Salad. NY Strip was cooked to perfection(med rare) and Seared and Braised duck was well sauced. Wait staff took a little while to engage us in dinner, but after we started, all proceeded well(c’mon, they are trying to get 300 folks out EXACTLY at the puck drop time). If you want dessert, you should probably arrive at 5:45. Hard to compete though with the Amazing Debbie in Club Section 114(she gets a 5 star Unilocal rating). TV’s all over to watch the game if your dinner runs long.

I’ve had both the restaurant and buffet twice, and the food was good. The service is terrible. Tonight at the tank at the buffet there was one server managing at least 40 people. Terribly understaffed and also an issue at the restaurant. For food and convenience it’s okay, but the service is 1⁄5.

For convenience to the SAP center I’d give it a five, for service I’d give it a three however when it comes to the food I’d give it a one. It is too bad, I really wanted it to be great. It is such a fabulous idea to park early, beat the traffic and sit back and relax having dinner at the venue. Sadly, it tries to offer upscale dishes that fall short to hospital cafeteria food. Think crawfish bisque that tastes like Campbell’s tomato soup, fried green tomato vegetable Napoleon that tasted like deep fried tomato and a piece of random grilled bread and the piece de resistance is the beignets with caramel and berries that tastes like cold brick hard stale hostess donut holes with freezer burned strawberry ice cream. Really wish they would stick to menu items that are easy to make and hard to screw up. Think wood oven pizzas, pasta, fresh salads and paninis. The space is great for the venue, they just need to revamp their menu to execute no fail dishes.

Excellent!!! Had the ahi appetizer and we both had the prime rib. The ahi was yummy! The prime rib was the best I’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection!!! Expensive but totally worth it

We ate here before the Sharks game tonight. The atmosphere is really nice. We ordered two martinis, the glasses they came in were half full AND they were warm… Blech! The rolls were hard(not in a crispy way) and very chewy. I had the prime rib(med rare) and it was really chewy. The big steak knife they brought with it was dull, I had to saw and saw to cut the meat. My husband had to change his order because they ran out of what he originally ordered. The rest of the food was really mediocre and for the price I would expect something yummy. Now I remember why we never eat there before games.

Food is always delicious, but it took way too long to order and too long to get appetizers, main course, etc. Drinks came pretty quickly. :0) Good thing there are TV’s all around to keep you entertained while you’re waiting for your meal. Will still eat there tho… just made reservations again.

We used to scramble to find a place to eat before Sharks games… but not any more! Now we always book a table here before Sharks games. They don’t have a huge menu, but that’s ok as the food selection is fairly wide. Fish, steak, pasta, salads… Last night I had steak and lobster with sides for $ 55! It’s a great place to eat, the food is reasonably priced, and the servers are very attentive.

Came here before a sharks game. It seems like you definitely have to make a reservation ahead of time before a weekend event at the SAP Center(formerly known as HP Pavilion). You can choose the buffet side, or the other side where you just order from the menu. We ordered from the menu, prices seemed a bit on the higher side but not unreasonable. I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer and the portion was a bit smaller than I had expected. The ahi was okay, nothing amazing, but it was edible. Someone in our group got the steak though and it looked really good and seemed to be cooked pretty close to a medium. I would recommend people looking for dining options around the DTSJ area, as there are plenty in the walking distance radius.

Thank you for making room for my mother and I during Lionel Richie’s concert. Being from SF, we made sure to arrive early due to traffic, yet we were a little too early for the arena to open. Reservations were completely full for the evening, yet staff at your establishment recognized my mom needed something to eat due to her low blood sugar. Being visually-impaired, she’s at a disadvantage compared to others who can walk a few blocks and get food. Your staff basically came to her aid and allowed us to dine in the main dining room. She recovered with bread on the table, and we had an enjoyable evening. The pork chop is cooked to perfection and paired well with the beans. The seared ahi tuna was delightful and went well with our fresh caesar salad. Impeccable service and hospitality, thank you again for saving the day/evening!

I am a Sharks season ticket holder so I end up eating at The Grill a few times a month before games. So this review is based on multiple visits over the last few years. I want to give 3 stars but felt that the high prices with inconsistent service was enough to drop it to 2. The food is good. The buffet is OK. You will always find a better meal on their menu but show up early enough before an event to have the time to do this. All the food, including the average buffet is better than what you can get inside the tank. The biggest drawback is that service is very hit and miss and its expensive. I don’t mind paying $ 150+ for two people to have dinner before a game but for the price, the food needs to be a bit better and the service a lot better. In general I prefer to eat at other establishments before going to HP but when I am too lazy or bored of other options I’ll go to The Grill before I eat the garbage in the concessions.

The Grill at HP Pavillion was really good. I read some of the other reviews before writing this review and am unsure why their experience wasn’t as nice as ours. We both had the Prime Rib($ 32 each) and it came as ordered(medium well). The meat was soft and juicy and the horseradish was smooth and spicy. The mashed potatoes were a little on the soft side but it tasted okay. We also had the Ahi salad($ 16) and it too was well prepared(blacken) with a wasabi sauce that was really mild(I might have enjoyed it better if it was spicier). The service was very good. We got seated immediately without reservations but we arrived at about 5:15 pm so the restaurant was quite empty. Our water glasses were constantly being filled and the Waitress was very nice. All of our servers were nice and answered all our questions nicely. We got served quickly and was walking to our seats at about 6:15. So our meal from wine to salad to main course(skipped the desert) took about an hour and that includes paying. Maybe we were just fortunate or maybe the way to get good service at the Grill is to arrive as soon as they open(5:00 pm) before the rush?

I absolutely loved my dinner. Lamb with bacon wrapped dates. Fantastic. My husband’s steak however was pretty horrid. Ordered medium rare, and got well done. Sides were not tasty Ugh. His dish was NOT worth the price. The wait to be seated was crazy since you have a reservation. It takes too long. THey don’t open until 5 so, they try to seat 300 people in 30 mins and serve them all food before the game by 7. So I am sure it is a mad crush in the kitchen and for waiters. Service was ok. They are very polite but can only do so much. We had a mix up with the order and the waitress had to comp us because we never received part of the order. She had to get approval from a manager and the wait was not worth the cost of the item. It is entertaining to see an upscale looking restaurant with a bunch of grungy guys in hockey jerseys and jeans eating at white napkin’ed tables.

This restaurant is too expensive for the quality of the food and service. The waiter spent loads of time at the tables surrounding us but took forever to take our orders and even longer to bring us our food. I had the ahi and the profiteroles. The ahi was okay… Definitely did not make me want to come back though. The profiteroles were better, but still only slightly better than meh. I could have gotten a better meal for a cheaper price somewhere else. The best thing about this place is that you can go there to eat and hang out before the game or concert. Aside from location, I don’t think it really has anything special that would make me want to come back.

A nice place to eat prior to seeing the Sharks. We went to the *buffet* side, where you can just grab what you want & go sit back down to enjoy. A bit overpriced since it is buffet style. I would say it’s equal to going to a wedding, the food is nice, but you don’t quite remember what you ate. Thank god the Sharks won that night, or I probably would’ve thrown up all my food from depression.
