This was my family’s first time attending a Mother’s Day Brunch, so I don’t have anything to compare it to other than a regular dining experience. When we arrived, I was very impressed with the facility and the well maintained grounds; and the view is gorgeous. I will say that the Hostesses did a pretty good job getting everyone seated fairly quickly. We arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation and was able to be seated with very little wait time. I requested a table outside and was told it would be a 20 minute wait — this ended up being interesting because when we arrived there were several tables available, and this was the case the entire time we were there — seating was available outside. Regarding the food, it was okay, I’ve had better. I can tell they prepared the food to please a wide range of taste palates. They had a wide variety of meats available, but a limited number of side dishes. The servers did a good job keeping the buffet supplied — my only complaint is that they did not have containers to put the syrup in for the waffles — I had to specifically request one; and the syrup container I received was dirty, I took it to the restroom to rinse out since they were extremely busy. The bathrooms could have used some special attention, not sure what was up with the housekeeping staff but the restrooms were not being maintained. Overall, I felt we received a good experience for the price. I would not pay more than what we paid to attend a brunch at this facility. I would return to try it again, especially since the atmosphere was very nice but casual enough for children.

Food is ok. Service is good. But system or management really bad. Waited 35 minutes to place our lunch order. Seriously?

2014 Unilocal365CHALLENGE — 211⁄365 I’ve dined at The Ranch Clubhouse a few times so far. Mostly for their breakfast and lunch buffets. The location is absolutely gorgeous. It’s located on top of a hill overlooking a golf course and houses all around. Such a beautiful view! I most recently came here for Mother’s Day. My mom booked a reservation in advance for a party of 5 people at 12pm. When we got there, the line just to get in was really long. We must have waited a good 20 – 30 minutes, AND we had a reservation! It was ridiculous. Once we got to the front of the line, my mom gave her name and we were seated relatively quickly. It was pretty full since it was Mother’s Day, and lots of families were there. They have both a breakfast/brunch and lunch menu, but we went for lunch because they had more savory options offered such as a prime rib bar, oyster/shrimp bar, etc. I believe it was around $ 45/person. Throughout the buffet they had a decent selection of both sweet and savory breakfast and lunch foods. French toast, a customized omelette station, bacon, sausage, etc. and then dish-type items like veggies, salmon, ribs, pasta, chicken, etc. As I mentioned earlier, they had prime rib and oysters/shrimp as well! As for desserts, they had a TON of different pastries, assorted fruits, and mini-desserts like mimi cheesecake bites, lemon squares, peach tarts, etc. The food was pretty decent. My favorite part was the prime rib since I rarely get to have it. I liked that I could tell the person which parts of the meat I wanted, and she would cut exactly what I asked for! My dad really enjoyed the oysters and had several helpings of them! The one thing that kinda sucks about The Ranch is that the service isn’t that great. The employees are super busy even when they aren’t taking orders(since it’s buffet) because they’re busy getting drink orders for people and clearing out tables. I felt that they might have been understaffed on Mother’s Day, because it was impossible for us to get anybody to help our table. Nobody automatically came to our table to take our drink orders once we were seated, and we must have been seated for over half an hour before we were able to attract the attention of a server to place our drink orders. It was really frustrating because throughout our dining experience, not ONE employee came and checked up on us. Yes it is a buffet so we get our food ourselves, but it would have been nice if someone checked on us every once in awhile to ask us if we needed anything like refills and whatnot! The employees were also kinda slow at replenishing the food at the buffet. My grandpa needed creamer for his coffee. One of the employees took the creamer container in the kitchen to fill it up, but it took them at LEAST20 minutes to do so! My poor grandpa’s coffee was probably cold by the time he finally got the creamer. Overall, I’d say that the food is pretty decent(not sure if it’s worth $ 45/person, maybe more like $ 30 – 35), and the location is unbeatable. However, the service could definitely be improved upon, and they also need more of it!

This place is a nice beautiful quite place to have breakfast. Don’t read the other reviews they’re haters bc they can’t afford to pay 15 dolla for simple breakfast. Stay your ass at Denny’s. See you later gayboys!!!

Fun course but clubhouse dining experience and service is horrible. I would play and then grab a bite down the road

I just had the most absent service I’ve ever experienced. There was nobody in the place and it took 10 minutes before we got our drink order taken, 10 minutes to deliver those drinks. We were there for an hour before our simple orders arrived… burgers and sandwiches. ATLUNCH. Oh, and only one drink refill. No wonder this place was a ghost town. Don’t bother unless you want mediocre food and terrible service.

It’s a pretty place for San Jose and it was fun to have a party there but nothing stood out as excellent and the bartender was a bit aloof to say the least.

On the hilltop of San Jose, this place is a great get-away while enjoying the view of the golf course. The Ranch Clubhouse sits amid the stately hill country south of San Jose — a spectacular setting of rolling hills, lush oak-filled canyons, lakes & creeks, and majestic views through the countryside to downtown San Jose and far beyond to the San Francisco skyline. Service & food was great due to great company :)

I ordered the Fish & Chips here after my round with the fellas and it was OK. Nothing to write home the family about. Our waitress was really good at times, and, at times, was nonexistent, like when she handed us the check. We waited 5 minutes for her to pick it up but she never did, so we finally decided to go inside the restaurant and hand it to her. Maybe she thought we were going to leave a pile of cash outside the patio or just forgot about us. Apparently, she was busy setting up for a banquet, probably for a wedding. Don’t get me wrong, she was cool and attentive when she was around. The check thing just rubbed me the wrong way since we were all in a hurry to get to our respective destinations after our round of golf, beer, and meal. BTW, I should note, although I don’t remember what they had, that my budds thought their food was just OK too. Really nice looking place to hold a banquet though. It has very picturesque views from the patio where we sat down for our meal.

Gorgeous place to take pictures or just take in the scenery! Not too upscale though in an upscale neighborhood.

Mothers Day Brunch 2011 Beautiful scenery & views. Plenty of parking & easy to get Had to wait an extra 30 minutes after our reservation time of Noon although they gave us one mimosa while we sat. Clearly understaffed and chaotic. Food was just okay, nothing amazing. Spring Veggies, Shrimp Cocktail & Eggs Hash Benedict were probably my faves. We had to flag someone down for beverages, BOTH times. Biggest issue, when we finally got seated they were out of plates, when the guy did bring some out they were wet and most still dirty with food on them, yuck! We had to sort through to find a some clean ones. I’ve been once before for a business lunch which was a much better experience. At that time it was a ghost town with only one other table occupied so service was much better and the menu/dishes were of higher quality as well. I’m sure the view is AMAZING at night, would be a nice place to sit on the patio on a warm evening with a date. Clean up your front of house, don’t overbook and if you’re jampacked for special events make sure you have enough table bussers staffed.

What an amazing place! My grandparents just had their 50th anniversary here and ironically my family wanted a classy place for my gpa and gma to celebrate the big FIVE — OH. First off, the view is spectacular! I cannot believe this was my first time here considering how I am in and out of the Evergreen area like crazy. The space is small and cozy which is not bad and was able to fit over 140 people comfortably 140 people in their small section. The management was very friendly and really accomodated our needs no matter how strange and weird it might be. For example. allowing us to bring a rented upright piano for all the little grandchildren to play a «recital» piece for their grandparents. Or having Karaōke being blasted while being displayed on their overheard plasma TV(we’re Asian, what do you expect?). OR serving Asian food from your typical Chinese Restaurants in a very Americanized setting. But they accomodated us beautifully and the entire family had a blast. Thank you The Ranch for giving us such amazing memories!

Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet 2010 I went here on recommendation from someone else. I had never heard of the place(apparently the golf course has a reputation of being VERY difficult on any but the most expert golfer). I suddenly had a change in plans and needed to find a new place for brunch on Mother’s Day. They were able to fit us in around their opening time(10am). The setting is very nice. Small building for a golf country club but just fine for the buffet event. Staff was friendly and all of our food was quite good. All the typical buffet fair and lots of variety. Nothing unusual but all prepared just fine. Would have preferred traditional Eggs Benedict to Eggs Benedict hash, but that is just a personal preference. The price was great for the setting. $ 38 adults, $ 18 kids, 5 and under free. If you typically go to brunch for Mother’s Day you know that this price is pretty good, especially for a the setting. My only regret is that brunch is a rare event for them(Mother’s Day only from what I could tell). To the reviewer below who was ‘revolted’ by hilltop golf course water use, don’t go to such places. But don’t knock the restaurant based upon your dislike of the landscaping of the nearby homes! Do you also knock SF restaurants due to the lack of green on the streets?

Breakfasting there is like eating in a ghost town. Shortly after we moved here back in August we walked in for a Sunday breakfast because they had a sign advertising it… So, we gave them a shot. Ugh! 5 minutes passed as we stood in the restraunt and nobody was around. We were about to leave when a shorts clad girl walked in from outside and said«Oh, are you here for breakfast?». We should have been afraid at this point. We sat and ordered after she scrounged menus for us. It took a while… Then when it arrived it was just«blah». Oh and my bad… When I ordered toast I neglected to ask for it to be buttered! Then after asking for some butter it came in frozen little balls. Horrible. Really. Even my coffee was served by the«waitress» out of one of those gas store thermous self serve type things. Avoid this place!

Don’t usually comment publically, but the experience we had today at the Ranch Golf Club restaurant was unique — it was horrendous. Went with a large group of 18 for Father’s day breakfast. The place looked abandoned upon our arrival just before 10 am. No one greeted us, no one even approached us to check us in or seat us. Finally caught one of only two workers walking around. We were seated. And there we sat… it was over an hour before our order was taken. And in that timeframe, they poured us coffee only once… we finally got up to ask for more coffee… only to have a couple cups refilled before the carafe was empty. Never were there more than the 2 servers working the entire time we were there, and at least 7 –8 more tables filled up. Food finally arrived… unbelievable! I am a food lover, not too much I don’t eat. However, I draw the line at runny, uncooked egg omelette with a fishy smell to it. Across the table I began to hear others comment that their eggs smelled like fish or were completely runny inside. It was a disaster! My questions: why only two workers serving, bringing drinks, bussing tables, setting up tables, taking orders and bringing out orders? Where was a hostess to greet us? Where was the manager(in fact, was anyone running the place or overseeing the operation at all?) Where was at least a single busboy? Why waste this beautiful building and setting with poor service, limited breakfast menu choices served lukewarm and undercooked? A new chef is onboard we were told. Better work out the kinks immediately or the entire building will be on the bank-owned sellers list soon. What a waste of what could potentially be a goldmine and a sought out setting for family occasions in the area. What a huge disappointment! A shame!

*Mother’s Day Brunch buffet* I’ve played golf here about 4+ times and I always receive emails about their dining events and brunch specials. I was happy to celebrate Jackie’s FIRST Mother’s Day here last Sunday. It was a picture perfect afternoon on top of the hill. We made reservations for 11:45am(trying to avoid the rush). There was plenty of parking and plenty of open seating areas to choose from. We decided to eat on the outdoor balcony deck facing the golf course. It was very spacious for the stroller and I didn’t worry about bumping into anyone with my plates full of grub. (+) Views were awesome! The staff was great and always checked in on us. The other guests were friendly(not the typical snobby brunch crowd), Personal omelet station & Fresh seafood table(cocktail shrimp, oysters, & mussels) were my favorites… (-) Food was just OK. Safe, clean… but disappointingly not amazing, a bit over priced for the selection. Adults — $ 38.00 per person Children 7 – 12 $ 18.00 per child Children 6& under Eat for Free
