Very satisfied with their services. They answered every time I called, and they had my container available whenever needed. They quoted me one price for 12′ and I was able to fit everything in 11′, which lowered the cost for me! Dealt with up to four people at this location alone, and all four were helpful and had great customer service skills.
My household goods arrived and they collected my payment over the phone. Friendly staff, in both states. Hopefully the pick up will be as smooth!

Very professional, on time, fast and simple. Also much cheaper than other moving companies I spoke to. I had an awesome experience.

1 relocube is more than enough for 1BHK Apt. They had given us 3 day time period for loading & unloading which was very helpful. As promised we got the stuffs moved within 5– 8 business days.
It would be great if u guys could provide cube with strings inside so that stacking process gets better.

Everything went perfectly without a hitch. I was concerned about going with UPack when I read some of the other reviews here, but my 1 Relocube move from Pennsylvania to Sunnyvale went perfectly and the cost of the move was much better than Pods.
My interactions with the UPack agents, the service centers in Pennsylvania and San Jose, and the driver in San Jose were great. When I was booking the move, I was concerned that the cube would arrive while I was away at a wedding. My agent accommodated for that and put it in the notes that the cube may need to be in storage for a few days after arrival.
I think the success of the move depends on a little bit of legwork by the customer. UPack provides all the info and lays it all out simply as possible in the Move Plan email they send right after booking; I would have been lost without the Move plan email and relied on it heavily. I watched some videos on YouTube about how to pack my things into a relocube and the got the supplies I needed in advance. I spoke with my UPack agent twice after I booked the move to give them a heads up about some changes, make sure all the details were correct, and request a driver phone call. I called the origin and destination service centers 24 – 48 hours in advance to book appointments for pick-​up/​drop-​off. San Jose terminus is obviously a bit busier than Pennsylvania, so 48 hours notice is reasonable.
I tracked my Relocube online as it went across the country. It arrived in 6 business days. When I opened my relocube in Sunnyvale, my things had arrived in *exactly* the same position I left them. This was the moving experience I was hoping for!

Terrible san jose office and rude driver. they told me that the driver would call ahead of time before reaching destination but he didnt. then when he called after reaching the destination and didnt find me there, he told me he come back later for delivery but he never cam again and i kept waiting at the destination for him to come back. the san jose office staff was rude and did not attend to my complaint with patience and in turn were behaving like it was my mistake and the miscommunication was from my side. Would have given 0 stars if that was an option. I would never book anything ever again with them.

This business even not deserve one star! Very bad experience: when we relocate from east to west, they called us for delivery, and forced us to choose Friday. Otherwise storage fee will apply… We said ok. While they did not give any time frame … We wait until 7 pm the day. Thought they will not coming… And I bring families to eat… Got a call from them 7 :30pm.I missed since my phone is silenced. Then I called several times both service and the driver. No body pick up. 7:45 they picked up said” you were not there, we will charge you 50 for redelivery! «I explained. The rude guy said we will charge you 50… This is the worst people I have dealt with! And called custermer service. Said would help. They get back to me today asked me pay 75. Said original cost is 150! Then The lady transferred me to her supervisor, who made the case even worse, he asked me either to pay 150 or pick up on site by myself, he said I can use U hall! I finally take the 75 offer, still I have to pay extra cost than they have advised ! U pack we move, shame on them! Does that sounds crazy! Yes! That is happening… They are sucking money! That is u pack and abf! Stay away with the garbage business! I will never use them again! In my life!

Continually lied to me throughout the day. Repeatedly called them to confirm, you are going to pick up the cube today right? They assured me yes, they would, each time I called. As you can guess, the driver never came.
I like the idea a lot, but the San Jose office was terrible to work with.

As a new graduate from college, with a boyfriend in the same situation you can imagine that we did not have much money to pack up and move from Chicago, IL to Campbell, CA… BUT WE DID IT. We came up with several options for our budget but PODS quoted us $ 2,400 to move ONE BEDROOM’s worth of furniture/​boxes. U-​Pack charged us $ 1,700 initially then gave us a discount for making reservations online. Our final costs total with U-​Pack ended up being $ 1,680 even. They are AWESOME! Great customer service and, as promised, delivered our U-​Pack within 6 – 8 business days and called an hour prior to arriving to our destination so that we would be ready to receive it or give further instructions. Our things arrived in perfect conditions (we put 2 locks on our pack FYI just to feel safe). Will definitely use again if moving long distance!

First of all, you entire U-​Pack experience will depend upon your point of origination and destination. Ours would be a story of heaven and hell. This review will cover an Ann Arbor, MI to Stanford/​Menlo Park/​San Jose terminus move. We chose U-​Pack after a lot of research which included informing them of the long driveway with trees overhanging at the receiving end. They reassured us that there would be no problem as their forklifts could maneuver the driveway, no problem. We chose U-​Pack largely for this reason. PODS would not have worked given the driveway constraint.
Overall, the U-​Pack concept, pricing and result are excellent. The size of the containers allows for choosing what will work best, while the chance to load the number of containers one needs is great. We moved two containers from Ann Arbor (UM) to Menlo Park (Stanford). The containers have pretty convenient tie-​downs along the sides of the containers. We found hefty gauge clothesline rope (Home Depot) worked best. We bought ratcheting tie-​downs but didn’t use them as the rope allowed for more individual placement. We packed one container to the gills using no tie-​downs, lots of padding, and strategic placement, and another with much furniture tied down with rope. Both did well with virtually no damage.
The containers arrived before us, in less than the estimate of 6 business days (containers went by train from OH to San Jose, CA). U-​Pack was okay with the delay due to driving cross-​country.
Here would be where our U-​Pack story diverges. Overall, it would seem U-​Pack has a limited number of carriers in each location. At origin and destination, we were dealing with the exact same guy for drop-​off and pick-​up. In AA that would be Dennis (the Saint), a very personable guy who kept us informed, calm and optimistic, while being as skillful as a Ninja at operating a fork-​lift. We got calls ahead with ETA’s and he had a lot of info to offer once he arrived.
Descent into Hell began in San Jose. The delivery driver gave no good estimation of his arrival time, arrived late in the day (at 4:45 on a Friday in a 12 – 4 window after saying close to 2) and then said ‘I can’t’ to everything, including transporting the containers down the driveway. After much argument, he did manage to get them down the driveway into the approximate position we hoped for. My impression was that I had made it more troublesome to do so than to refuse.
Come Monday morning the containers were cleared and free to go. U-​Pack wants to know when you are ready to roll, not an estimate. We called first thing Monday morning. He did not come on Monday, nor Tuesday. On Wednesday, we called (a couple of times) and said firmly that we needed the cubes gone. Late in the day, the same unpleasant fellow came and took them away. Without a word. Bad experience overall and very anxiety provoking. as well as his being a perfect jerk.
Would I use them again? Probably, though I would research the origination and endpoints more than I did for this move, for the experience of others. This would be the determining factor to most of us as to whether this is a good option or not. That said, I would not use them if my point of origin was Stanford. Just too horrible, uncooperative, uncommunicative, and traumatic. Shameful, really… Hope this helps.

I moved from Indiana to San Jose, California. Don’t trust their
website when you schedule your move. I quoted once, and a day later, they showed +$ 500 increased price! And when I tried with different computer, it showed original (low) price. One problem is when you are making a quote, it is *locked in* with your computer so you can’t change the quote easily, and a day later, they will increase the price. Two possible options to avoid this are:
(1) clear the cookies of your web browser; or
(2) try with different computer.
Then you can show original, low price. This is very unethical practice. I eventually ended up using upack to move, but, honestly, I don’t trust their reservation system.

We recently moved from San Jose to Portland and decided to use 2 shipping pods from ABF. They were really late for pickup which was a hassle since someone had to remain home till they arrived. We drove our own cars up to Portland later in the week and after 11 hours on the road, we arrive and open our containers only to find a lot of our stuff damaged. I packed these pods really really well because I know items might shift a little but not at this extent. Our couches we scratched up, tool box and lamps scratched, everything knocked over, completely cracked our big bookshelf, a black dust throughout the pods, and even the locks we bought to lock the pods were damaged and smashed. We filed a claim and ABF says that they aren’t liable and can only give us some money according to the weight which is $ 66. $ 66? That can’t even replace 1 item out of the many that they damaged. Would’ve been better to sell all our items and save the $ 1800 they charged us. We basically paid someone $ 1800 to break all our stuff. How is this even legal? I will never use this crappy company again.

Flawless service and great price in my move from San Jose to Phoenix AZ. Way cheaper than Pods for this cross country move and perfect execution on the timing. Strongly recommend them to anyone looking to move… being able to load the container over a few days rather than using a moving truck, that has to be loaded in a single day, is a huge improvement and waaayyy less stressful.
Reading some of the other reviews, I had the cubes delivered a little early and scheduled the unloading the day AFTER the cubes were scheduled to arrive in Phoenix. I recommend that others do the same, as the cube delivery and pick-​up have a pretty wide window.

I booked them for a cross-​country move from Virginia (near Washington, DC) to just outside San Francisco. Everything went as scheduled, on time, at the price quoted.
Pricing: clear, easy to understand. Quote (in early May, ahead of the summer busy season) was about $ 2430 for one cube, $ 3300 or so for two cubes, each 6′ deep, 7′ wide, and 8′ tall on the inside. They delivered two cubes in case we needed them, no charge for the second one unless we actually packed it.
Drop-​off: Someone must be present to sign at drop-​off and direct where the cubes go. They gave a window of 8am to noon. I called around 10am to get a more narrow ETA and was told 11am, so went out to brunch with my husband and a friend. We got back from brunch just in time as my phone was ringing. The driver with the flatbed was there with our pods. He neatly forklifted both pods into my parking space outside my apartment and made sure there was clearance for the doors to swing totally open without hitting the curb.
Pick-​up: We scheduled pick-​up on June 18^th, left for our cross-​country road trip on June 17^th, and trusted they’d get the pods!
Transit tracking– it was a little hard to find, but we googled and found the ABF site to put in our tracking number from our paperwork that the driver gave me. It was nice to see the progress of the cube (left Iowa, in transit to CA, etc.)
Delivery: They gave a 1pm — 5pm delivery window for June and the flatbed driver called me at 1:10 from near my apartment. We met up, he neatly put our pod in a convenient for us spot. Very easy.
Payment: I called and paid the $ 2430 via credit card over the phone. I got an email receipt for the paid invoice within an hour.
Empty pod pick up — is scheduled for Monday, I don’t apparently need to be home for that part either.
I thought it was well worth the cost, and very straightforward. We were very happy with the clean condition of the U-​pack pod and how full we got it. Since it’s 8′ tall, it was really helpful to have a small folding step-​stool to put bagged blankets, coats, etc. up on top of the mattress & box spring, and keep stacking things high to the ceiling. That step-​stool was last in, first out of the pod!

We used ABF to pack for our move from Santa Clara, CA to Bellingham, WA. The communication was very good on this end; our driver dropped off the 4 containers at the exact angle and area we asked for, and picked them up a few days later. We were told if we had them delivered on a Friday, we got a few extra days of loading time. The containers arrived less than 48 hours later in Washington. At the Mount Vernon facility, they were easy to talk to and it should be noted that I had to ask for every specific cube to have the contact numbers in the system. They arrived at the new house within the 4 hour window as promised. I was happy with the service and price, and I think the constant contact was helpful in getting the cubes delivered, picked up and redelivered in a timely manner.

This review is solely on this terminal.
I recently moved from Portland, OR to San Jose, CA. Everything went perfectly fine at first until I got to San Jose.
Up in Portland, they were very good with communication. I set up a drop off time of 8am-​12pm. They came at 10:30am to drop it off. Driver called 30 minutes prior to let me know. No complaints there. They also picked it up in a timely manner.
Afterwards everything went downhill and the fault pretty much falls on the destination terminal (San Jose). So ABF Portland picked up my box on Tuesday and estimated 2 days. I called the destination terminal (San Jose) the next day to track my item and also get an ETA. The lady told me no worries, I will get it Friday. I set up an appointment of 8am-​12pm to receive it. As usual, I requestedSo I drove from Portland to San Jose Thursday to get in on time for the drop off on Friday. Well Friday we waited all morning for the call from the driver. 12pm rolls around and I called the destination terminal again. The person on the phone said my item is still in Sacramento and I would not be able to get until Monday. This whole entire time I did not receive any notification that my item was going to be delayed. The guy on the other line admitted that I should have received a call. So I basically waited all morning for nothing.
Monday comes by and I have the same appointment time — 8am — 12pm. I called right at 8am to confirm that it was coming and they said yes. At 11am I called again and they said it should be coming soon. At 11:50 I called again to remind them of my appointment time and that the driver is supposed to call me 30 minutes beforehand and he still hasn’t. The guy on the other line checked around and informed me the driver was running late and would be coming soon. Driver arrived around 12:15pm. At no time did they ever reach out to me to notify me of any delays. There was absolutely no communication on their part whatsoever.
I had great service in Portland with ABF however San Jose really dropped the ball. I would recommend U-​Pack again only if you didn’t have to deal with the San Jose terminal.

Given the nature of the moving business, I would say this is probably the best moving company I have worked with. Since I have a habit of relocating to a different city every two years, I have worked with a variety of companies. The worst were ones which involved theft and false quotes, the best was this one.
Anyone who expects moving to be perfectly smooth seriously needs to lower their standards. Things break and delays are common. I used UPack in December to move my household from Portland, Oregon to San Jose. The gentleman on the phone was very professional and took his time to answer all my questions and outlined a timeline for the entire move including time frame for cube drop off, when to call to have it picked up, who to call when I want it delivered, etc.
When the time came to have the cube dropped off at my storage unit, I realized the street parking was limited to one hour. I called the customer service line and they instructed their driver to hang out for an hour while we unloaded.
The only down side was the shipment was supposed to arrive in 2 – 3 business days and it ended up 5 – 6. But good luck finding movers who are on time when you are relocating to another city in another state. I have yet to find a company that consistently does that. I choose to factor in flexibility and assume I won’t have my belongings for at least a week and pack a suitcase for that week.

Two stars for the pricing. They cannot be beat, but you get what you pay for.
Do not rely on these guys from a timing perspective. Realize that you are dealing with a freight company, and your household goods are just gravy. You are not a priority, and when it comes to scheduling time for drop off and pick up they will give you the run around.
I had paid a bunch of guys to help me load the truck. I scheduled the drop off 1 month, 1 week, 2 days before, and 1 day before to be sure that it would arrive when they said it would. I was told the morning of the drop off day that it would arrive no later than noon. My movers were coming at 6, so I said no problem. I called at 2pm to see why the truck hadn’t arrived. Was told that it was coming right then, and to expect it at 3. Called at 4, told the same thing, the truck was on its way. Called at 5, called at 6, called at 7. I kept getting lied to. «truck is on the way» I was told over and over again. All the while I am paying guys to stare at my stuff sitting in my house.
Finally, when the truck came close to 8pm, 8 hours after they said it would arrive, the driver told me that he didn’t even pick up the truck from the truck yard until 7pm and that his arrival was the soonest he could get it there (not his fault).
Same thing happened on the other end. Was lied to over and over again on when my stuff would come. I would look on the website and see that my stuff was stuck half way, but when I was calling to confirm the drop off at my new location, they kept telling me that it would arrive on time. Finally I called them out on it after two days of their lies. I said I just want to be told the truth on when my stuff would be delivered to me. Still couldn’t get a straight answer. I called the main line to complain and was told it was my fault, and that I needed to be more patient, that my stuff would arrive when it would arrive.
I would suggest that you pay a bit more and use a place that can be relied on. If you don’t care when they drop off, or when you are going to get it back, then U-​Pack might be the right option for you. If you are working with deadlines, then choose another company.

At this time one star is way too much for them. I loaded a relo-​cube in Atlanta that was picked up for delivery to San Jose on the Feb 5^th. Guess what! The unthinkable happened, they cannot locate my cube. It is now the 10^th of Feb, and they claim that they have sent a message to all their terminals between Atlanta and San Jose to check if it is lying somewhere. They even tried to confirm with me three times if my cube was in fact picked for delivery. Thankfully, the cube was picked up from a Public Storage, and they record everything on video.
My cube is not scheduled to arrive till the 14^th, but I am getting an attorney ready.
I will update the review if things change.

Less expensive than full-​service movers, great for apartment moves!

This was my first cross-​country move with an apartment full of stuff, and after getting 5 moving estimates from different full-​service movers I was apprehensive about both the cost and the possibility of damage and loss to my belongings. Since I had a 1 bedroom apartment, I did not have enough items to fill up an entire moving truck. This introduces the possibility for increased damage and loss, because full service movers often pick these small loads up and then unload them into their own storage area (without being supervised by you); the items sit in storage until the moving company finds another load that will match up with yours to fill their truck. Then the items are re-​loaded into a truck (without being supervised by you). Items can be lost at the storage facility, and the extra loading/​unloading increases the potential for items being dropped or stacked improperly.
I was in a quandry until I came across ABF U-​Pack. With the Relocubes I could load the units as carefully as I wanted and have the confidence that all items inside at the origin would be present at the destination.
I ended up reserving 2 Relocubes for a Wednesday delivery (ideal since they let you keep the cubes till Monday without any extra charge). Bobby, supervisor at the San Jose location, answered my questions and I confirmed the delivery with Michelle at the San Jose office, who was very friendly. The cubes arrived at the scheduled time and the driver, Ken, did a careful job of placing the cubes where I requested.
Friends helped me load the two cubes up in 1 day (a very LONG day). My possessions ended up filling 1 cube entirely and 1 cube halfway; we used three S-​hook ratcheting straps (purchased at the local hardware store) to tie the items in the half-​filled cube down. The cubes were picked up on the scheduled day.
There were a number of rainstorms during the week the cubes were in transit, so I wondered how the Relocubes would fare. The filled cubes were delivered to my new residence at the scheduled time by Larry, who was careful to drive the forklift so it didn’t brush against an overhanging tree on the property. When I opened the cubes, I was overjoyed to see that the contents had minimal shifting and were dry (except for a small amount of rainwater that leaked in near the door hinges of one of the cubes… I had covered the boxes with an inexpensive plastic tarp, so they were fine).
I was able to unload the cubes in 2 days and the pickup of the empty cubes went smoothly. THANK YOU ABF! I PLAN TO USE YOU AGAIN.
Tips: if you haven’t moved before, invite someone who is an experienced packer over to demonstrate how to pack fragile items, and read up on packing advice on the internet. Much of the success of this type of move depends on a careful pack job. Buy a LOT of packing paper. I recommend using double-​walled dishpack boxes as the «base» layer — they hold up well if you’re stacking boxes all the way to the 8′ top of the Relocube. Start the packing process early (at least 2 weeks before the Relocubes will be delivered). Buy plenty of moving blankets (or use old comforters and blankets) to wrap up furniture in… don’t just put furniture in the cube without any padded protection around it. Have a stepladder handy for packing the Relocubes to the ceiling. Use S-​Hook ratcheting straps to tie things in place if you aren’t filling up a cube to the ceiling.
Realize that using Relocubes takes more time and physical effort than full-​service moving.
Highly recommended if you won’t fill an entire moving truck, you’re particular about how your posessions are handled, you want to save money, and you have time to load/​unload.

Trustworthy with one of the best prices out there. You have to be careful because many moving companies are a big scam! I called some illegitimate companies and they would not take a no from you and i finally hung up when they kept calling me!
I used their service when i moved from San Jose, Ca to Texas.
The reason why they can charge their customers a relatively lower price is because they transfer most of the liability to the customers which is not a big problem if you as a customer know how to pack your items properly into their relocube. Once you pack your items, you lock it and keep the keys till it arrives at your destination.
The person who dropped off my relocube in Texas was kind enough to give us a hand with moving out our items and he was super friendly. Even in San Jose, the front desk service was good.
I will definitely consider ABF again when i move out of Texas!
