OK I finally met JMC, I can die a fulfilled and complete man. Thanks Nadia for planning this event, and thanks Chef Jay for hosting us! I haven’t had Moroccan food in over 3 years and sans rabbit it was a very welcome and memorable experience. I always go to that area just for Sonoma Chicken Coop and don’t even think twice about crossing the street. I’ve been on Unilocal for almost 3 years but only recently have started attending UYEs, so it’s weird that people know of me before I even got there. Nevertheless, great pleasure meeting everyone! Food from last night included: lentil and cilantro salad, Mediterranean salad, vegetarian briwatts, chicken kebabs, couscous with carmelized onions, chicken tangine, beef tangine, basmalti rice and bread. The salads were good, the couscous was excellent, and the tangines were very very good. The white sangria was different from what I’m used to in Spain and at churrascarias. It was more of a mixed drink(Orangina-like as someone mentioned) without fruit, but it was tasty and deceptively laden with alcohol. The chef then trotted out two new desserts. Two briwatts, one of drizzled dark chocolate and one of apricots and brie. The dark chocolate one was very good but the apricot/brie one was … for lack of a better term … scrumtrilescent. If you don’t know that word, look it up. I loved the combination of sweet apricot and creamy brie wrapped in flaky layers of phyllo. Omnomnom. Will definitely come back some time. My eyes have been opened.

Thank you Nadia for putting together a wonderful UYE. As usual I had a fantastic time with all the Unilocalers. It was very nice to catch up with everyone. This was my first time having Moroccan food. Everything was great! The food was good and the drinks was especially good. Those Sangria’s are dangerous! The wine was perfect and overall I had a wonderful evening. I love the décor too. Thank you Chef Jay for greeting me and taking care of all us crazy Unilocalers. I know we can be a handful at times. See you all at the next event.

I drive by Morocco’s every day. I have wanted to try it and then… viola!, Nadia posts her first UYE at Morocco’s! YAY!!! Chef Jay was an amazing host. He brought out each dish and told us how it was prepared. And everything was delicious. The lentil salad was so flavorful and the chicken kababs were so tender! The vegetarian couscous was so yummy with the carmelized onions it made the dish sweet and it went so well with the tangine beef. And the tangine beef… mmm mmm good! How do you get beef that tender??? The flavor and the tenderness combined made this my favorited of the night. Ah, but then came dessert. Chocolate briwatts, delicate pillows of philo dough filled with warm chocolate. So YUMMY!!! Thank you Chef Jay for making my first taste of Morroccon food a memorable one!!! Thanks to our hostess Nadia too! This was a great UYE so we will be expecting more now… haha :). We had a wonderful group, great food and great conversation! All that makes for a great UYE!!!

First time eating Moroccan food… yum! I much enjoyed the Sangria a lot more. Sorry Kuya if I drank half the pitcher. =) Nadia, you did a wonderful job and Chef Jay was great with the presentation of all the food. I haven’t had that much food squished into my tummy…9 items! It was definitely a blast seeing everyone… I look forward to another one.

Thank you so much to everyone that came out for my first UYE! It was so nice to meet new Unilocalers and of course hang out with Unilocalers I already know! Much thanks must go to Chef Jay for the wonderful food and service provided to our group. When we arrived a beautiful table was set up for us, drink orders were taken and then the food started… Food from last night included: lentil salad, Mediterranean salad, vegetarian briwatts, chicken kebabs, vegetarian couscous, chicken tangine, beef tangine, basmalti rice, bread for dipping. My favorite part of the night was dessert. Chef Jay introduced two new briwatt desserts to get honest feedback from Unilocalers, an apricot one and a chocolate one. I absolutely loved the chocolate one and hope he puts it on his menu. It’s always wonderful to eat and drink with great company and I couldn’t ask for anything more last night. You guys are all fantastic! :) Thanks Dave for the pics:
