Such a great local rodeo. Not only do I love it because it is in my backyard practically, but it is also a decent rodeo! It is a big purse rodeo that attracts top 30 cowboys. It is located at the corner of Ortega and Antonio, parking on the grass fields. You will see big stands set up, this past year they were covered which was nice since the last few years have been very hot. Food and drink are avalaible on the grounds as well.

Make this a home town family tradition. Fire up the old dodge. Pack in the kids and enjoy a summers night of cowboying and country music and dancing. Thanks you RMV to keeping some old flavor to San Juan Capistrano

My hobby is to attend rodeos all over western/south western US and western Canada. The RMV Rodeo is one of the most fun times anyone will have at a rodeo. This is a must attend rodeo for any rodeo fan. The only missing element is the Barrel Racing Event. Other than that, the rodeo packs everything in that is possible. Only the top 30 in the world standings in each event are allowed to enter this rodeo. Makes for top notch competition and top notch rodeo. On Saturday the dance after the rodeo is a great time and is a great primer for Swallows Inn later in the evening. The only downfall of the rodeo? The rodeo only lasts for two days. A rodeo this fun should last for at least a week!

It’s definitely a fun experience!(my first rodeo experience) however I have gone both years since I found out about it. It’s what you’d expect when you think of a rodeo. A chance for us girls to wear our cute sundresses and cowboy boots and watch the poor lil cows get tied down :( The best part of the rodeo though is heading into San Juan Capistrano and hitting up Swallows Inn with all the real cowboys(note: average height of cowboy’s is about 51″ for my 510″ frame, this can be awkward…) they always have live music here… guess I’ll give it a review of it’s own.

I went to this. It was great. It was hot, and dusty, and chock full of cowboys and long-legged women in tight jeans. My recommendation? Wrangle tix to the sponsor tent where you’ll drink for free, eat for free, and lounge in the shade like proper high-rollers. Can’t do the sponsor tent? Be sure to pick a spot in the stands that isn’t going to get full sun between the hours of 12am and 6pm. And bring some singles for the mechanical bull.
