JUCY RV Rentals

I decided to rent a Jucy van with my friends after hearing great experiences about the company. We were not disappointed! We arrived in San Leandro to pick up the car, and the professionals there were very nice and attentive. After signing the paperwork, they gave us a quick run down on how everything in the Jucy van operated, which was very helpful!
We took the Jucy van for the weekend and drove down the 1, camping at Butano State Park. Other campers at the campsite were actually jealous of our Jucy van! My friends and I were not very prepared for the camping trip, but Jucy really provided everything we needed: blankets, towels, cooking utensils, chairs, etc.
Using the kitchenette in the back was extremely easy, and it was a life savor having a refrigerator to keep our food cold and also the running water from the sink!
We slept in the Penthouse (top part of the camper) and the bed was really soft and spacious. They even had push lights and electric plugs.
All in all the weekend was a huge success, largely in part to our Jucy van! We will definitely be using this company again!

I just got back from symbiosis where I rented the jury van for a camper. There where many many benefits of having the jucy van and a couple of wish it had.
So Benefits:
The beds where really nice. easy set up and break down. It does take work to set up and set down the sleeper inside the van but totally worth it.
The space for the sleeper up top and the van it self was wonderful.
The sink fridge and cooker. perfect. (I didn’t realize the solar panel charged the vans batteries so next time I don’t have to worry as mush about the coolers and the usage of the battery life.
Wish it had–
–an awning. Really really needed. I didn’t bring mine like an idiot. I thought the van would have one. It was hot and we looked for shade every where we could. They could attach it to the other side of the van where the ladder isn’t located. Or also nice have another one on the back on the bottom of the trunk door so when your using the kitchen there could be an awning to keep the sun off my back while Im cooking in the kitchen.
–a two prong plug. I lucky found one at walgreens. Next time Ill bring a fan to help with air flow on the hot day but I needed one this time because I smoke an ecig and there was no way I was running out of batteries while I was out camping. I found a adapter at walgreens.
Bad–
–The air keep pushing hot air out through out the day of driving.
— The dvd player wouldn’t run any dvds.
— Checking in took forever and I did the early pick up. I paid extra for that. I had to go to work that day so got there first thing. Took about an hour. Under staffed, Van not ready at all. It needed to be washed. Filled up with gas which they had to do off property. Took just forever. So did check out but by that time I didn’t care if I sat around in a chair. I was wiped out from the weekend.
I will probably rent this again for another trip.

What a joke! I’ve been waiting over an hour and still haven’t seen our vehicle. Understaffed –terribly run. No stars.

NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY! Their cars are complete crap. The windows didn’t work, the lights in the car didn’t work, and the air conditioner randomly blows out hot air and won’t stop… even when you turn off the air completely. Also, our electronic topper broke and we had to wait around for 6 ½ hours for it to get fixed, but also just couldn’t use it. So, the money we spent on our tickets that day went to waste… a total of $ 180. The car also shook uncontrollably when going around curves… the breaks would lock and the driver no longer has control. That van was so dangerous and poorly maintained that no one should be driving it.
The car also got swiped when it was parked. I reported it with my insurance and who is paying for the damages. They contacted Jucy, but Jucy is refusing to provide documentation to my insurance company and said they never spoke with them. This is a lie. They instead charged my credit card for more than the repairs cost. Truly unprofessional, unorganized and a complete nightmare.
All in all really poor business and false advertising. There is no San Francisco pick up or return. Jucy has been a nightmare and ruined my vacation. But more importantly they are renting out lemons that are really unsafe and someone will end up getting hurt.

This company was completely unprofessional. It has been a month since I rented my van, and I never received my $ 500 security deposit back. Additionally, my van was absolutely FILTHY when I picked it up– there were too many scratches and dents to count. The San Francisco office «ran out of vans» and ours was the only one left so we were unable to switch. This only skims the surface of their poor customer service. I would recommend renting your van elsewhere, don’t let Jucy dampen your camping experience.

We rented the van for Coachella and absolutely loved it! We slept in the roof top tent and it was extremely comfortable. The mattress was soft and the winds kept it cool even during the day. Our friends slept in the main compartment and also found it very comfortable.
The camper served as our HQ during our stay at the campgrounds. The kitchenette in the back was perfect for prepping food and the fridge stayed cool the entire time. The auxiliary battery was crucial for charging our devices. Bonus points for having solar panels on the roof of the van to keep that auxiliary batter juiced.
Just a few negative things that can be improved upon. We realized Jucy is still just starting up in the Bay Area so their rental office was a bit under furnished. The rental agent said that they were soon going to put in TV’s, pool table, and couches in the waiting area. What was a bit disappointing was their limited opening hours and pickup times. Pickup time was between 1pm and 4pm, requiring me to take time off work to pick up the van in the afternoon. Drop off is before 9am, but we were able to drop it off the night before and leave the keys in the mail slot.
Overall, it’s a great concept and I hope that Jucy will be successful in their expansion throughout the USA.

We just returned from our third US Jucy trip yesterday. Our family loves the Jucy camper and we have also sent off several friends on such minivan camper trips, and they all loved it as well.
The Jucy minivan camper is a great concept if you love to travel light-​weighted and fast. The Jucy drives like a car so you not only can park it everywhere like a car (which is essential in the sometimes crowded National Parks), but on the road you will also pass many of those big RV’s, tent trailers and motor homes who love to travel with their living room. Beware that there is not much storage room at all as the entire trunk is a kitchen — don’t bring too much stuff! I give each of my family members a duffle bag — what fits in the duffle bag, goes on the trip, what doesn’t fit, stays at home. Plan carefully and don’t bring any hard shelled luggage as it is difficult to stow away! Duffle bags, baby!
We have rented a Jucy in different seasons on the West Coast now — Thanksgiving in November to go down Highway 1 from San Francisco to Los Angeles, in the summer to go on a big tour to Grand Teton NP, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Park, and just this past week to go to Utah during spring break (Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches NP). Plan according to the season and check the weather forecast. We always bring our own sleeping bags in addition to the bedding Jucy provides — it would not have been enough for the 27 °F in Bryce and Arches at night.
We prefer the older Jucy model with the larger pod on top as it fits all our bedding and sleeping bags, including the towels, all flattened in the pod on top. They would not all fit in the thin pod of the newer model. Also, my kids prefer the build-​into-​the-​ceiling DVD system in the older model with the larger screen, rather than the newer portable DVD system which is inconvenient if two persons in the back want to watch together. Please know that the newer model has additional USB outlets for charging your phones, iPods and such, but you can use a suitable adaptor for the DC 12V outlets of which multiple are available in both models. We asked in advance for an older model for this Utah trip and we got it.
We have been to all 3 rental stations in the US now (San Leandro near Oakland, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas). We have always found the staff extremely helpful and friendly, never had a bad experience. Please know that usually it can take quite some time to finally leave the rental station with your van — up to 1.5 hours. I heard it was longer for some people. It seems they are somewhat understaffed at the stations for situations in which multiple people are picking up and returning their vehicles.
We find the Jucy prices very reasonable. For all three trips we got a deal — look for early bird specials, Groupons, relocation services, holiday specials. Given that you pay less for gas than a big RV, that the campgrounds are usually cheap (except the occasional night on a KOA to do some laundry, pool time and breakfast serving), and that with the full kitchen you can provide all of your own meals which we always do (planning camping meals in advance is a lot of fun), this usually makes for very affordable family trips. We do sandwiches for our hikes during the day and easy meals on the two stoves for dinner — pasta or omelettes on the stove, burgers on the fireplace that every campsite comes with. We love the kitchen in the back of the van and just back up the van so the kitchen is close to the camping table on site. If you plan to cover multiple National Parks on a trip, consider getting an annual pass for all National Parks for $ 80.
In summary, if you are prepared, then a Jucy camper trip will be a great experience. Bring only duffle bags and your own sleeping bags if possible, DVDs for the kids, jackets, hats and mittens if it can get cold at night and in the morning. This past week we had breakfast at 30 °F in Utah, but with a beautiful view at Kodachrome Basin State Park (this is one of the best campgrounds we have ever been to). Buy some essentials like small dish soaps, hand soaps, spices to cook with, sponges or a dish brush. The fridge holds a lot of stuff. Take extra gas cartridges ($ 15 for 4) for the stoves from the rental stations as they are hard to get sometimes. You can always return unused (and ask for a refund). We took an auxiliary cable for the iPod from the Las Vegas station for free and returned it when we got back.
Make sure you refill your water tank on the road (we got it for free at gas stations, they usually have a hose). At most State Parks, RV parks or campgrounds they have dump stations. If not, check the gas stations, many provide the dumping service for about $ 5.
Last not least, have fun! My kids are joking that if we would charge $ 5 for every tour we give of the Jucy (you are approached everywhere), we could fill their college funds.
As for equipment, it would be nice if a hand broom would be added to every camper.

I had a pretty great first experience using JUCY. My mom had come into town for a week long visit and we took the camper van on a roadtrip to Big Sur and Yosemite. She has a dream of owning a post-​retirement RV and traveling around the U.S., so I figured this was a happy middle ground in the meantime.
We took BART to the San Leandro station and had to take a cab to the JUCY lot; only took a few minutes and cost about $ 10.00. When we arrived, the woman was showing another party the details of the van, so my mother and I tagged along to learn how everything worked. I was very pleased with how straightforward and simple the usage of all parts of the vehicle were. The one piece that was not mentioned was that the ladder (which was inside the walk-​through vehicle) would be inside the Penthouse, making for some scrambling and confusion later.
The woman working there mentioned that they were not prepared for people to show up right at/​after 1:00, the agreed upon pickup time. They were scrambling to get other vehicles cleaned and ready for other renters to come pick up. All in all, we didn’t have to wait terribly long, but were there for more than an hour, causing us to hit Bay Area traffic on our way south.
Our experience using the van was fantastic. Drove smoothly, stayed warm inside (although I would definitely bring extra heavy blankets or temperature-​appropriate sleeping bags when using the Penthouse, especially). Great handling on swervy mountain roads. LOVED the little mini kitchen, plus the additional burner to put out on the picnic table. Plus our deal came with camping chairs, which were a great addition to have at the campsites.
Downsides:
— USB outlet in our van didn’t work, so we were unable to charge things during our trip.
— not a lot of storage space within the van itself (for three adults, our bedding, luggage and clothing, and food)
Upsides:
— smooth ride; easily maneuverable vehicle
— good customer service
— warm and spacious sleeping quarters
— loved the fully stocked little kitchen!
Will definitely use JUCY Vans again :)

I had an excellent experience with JUCY. No problems at all with the vehicle or equipment, good quality linens and cooking equipment. Excellent service in San Leandro.
I thought I had lost my cell phone in the van and Javier spent quite a bit of time pulling things apart and helping me look.
It’s also a great way to meet people… everyone passing by wants to look at the kitchen.

Hmnnn wanting to rent a camper van (pick up San Leandro/​SF). i talked to customer service twice on different days and haven’t received a call back if theres a van available or not …

We rented back in late Summer 2014– and made a 9-​day family trip with 5 people all the way from SF to Seattle, through Montana to Yellowstone, back through Reno, NV. We brought an extra tent for the extra person. Our trip could not have been better– comfortable ride, great service– Domonic, the general manager really went out of his way and the phone service was top notch. The amenities on board were fantastic for travels over 5 hours/​day. If looking for an unforgettable experience– Jucy Rentals are by far the best option out there.

11÷13÷15 I am updating this review to four stars. Soon after posting the previous review, I was contacted by the U.S. Operations Director who couldn’t apologize enough for the experience I had. She offered an explanation, but no excuse. My $$ was refunded without question and she gave me a bonus. I ended up renting from the Las Vegas location (who were really terrific, see that review) and ended up having an excellent trip. So thanks, Jucy. More than happy to update this review. I hope things are better at this location.

If you got this far, you think it’s a cool idea. And so it is. Except when you get there. Read on regarding their deplorable customer service and if their restrooms are any indication of the cleanliness, functionality and amenities in their vans, they should be condemned, but I don’t think there is an agency that oversees these type of companies. Seriously, I’ve done better in several third world countries.
Why have I not learned my lesson to check Unilocal before investing in a Groupon or Living Social «deal»? Especially one that costs $ 300+? So often, the business is offering these because they are having trouble otherwise getting customers. Enter Jucy. I called on September 8 and spoke with «Johnny» to discuss the Living Social offer. It appeared that the price was very close to not using any coupon, but what the heck. I remember having to pay extra for linens and kitchen. In the end I went with the Living Social deal, not wanting to get nickel and dimed and made my reservations while still on the phone. This included our arrival time. We planned a five-​day vacation with campground reservations based on this rental. On September 22 we called an hour before our scheduled arrival time and confirmed our reservation with (again) «Johnny». When we arrived at the location (no Jucy signage… thanks!), we walked into what appeared to be an airport terminal where the flights had been cancelled for the past three days. It was crowded, it was dirty, people and luggage everywhere. To be fair, Jucy apparently shares this «lobby» with a couple other RV rental companies. Everyone looked miserable. There was a sign-​up sheet for Jucy with about eight names on it (none crossed off) and I signed in. There were two young women with Jucy t-​shirts running about. When I signed in, one of these representatives just looked at me, then away, with a «oh no, not another customer» gesture. After further observation, it appeared this representative was new and had very little training as she trailed after the only other representative asking what to do. I sat on a chair in what appeared to be the Jucy area. The other representative passed me by several times. No hello. No «we’ll be with you shortly». She did communicate with another customer near me though. After 15 minutes or so, I asked this customer how long she had been waiting and she said «over 40 minutes». Out to the parking lot. Two Jucy vans were being cleaned and at least one of these was being readied for a customer. We checked further in the parking lot and observed seven or eight other parked Jucy vans that were either off-​limits, not clean or out of commission. We weren’t going to get our van anytime soon, so we cut our losses. I called «Johnny» and cancelled the reservation, explaining the situation we encountered. Some friends we visited the first night were kind enough to loan us some (tent) camping equipment and we were able to salvage most of our trip, but unfortunately we were rained on and had to do a lot of drying out and had to stay in a motel one night, which of course would not have mattered had we had a van.

Godsdammit, Jucy.
We rented a Jucy van for a festival recently after our SUV ended up in the shop at the time we needed it for camping. We’ve had various trailers before, and they were alright, but never quite what we wanted for a permanent festival residence. But the Jucy Champ… from the minute I saw it it was clear that it was what we’d dreamed of for years.
We had a fantastic experience. The miniRv is user friendly, very roomy, and best of all stays cool, which is not my experience with fullsize RVs and trailers. We all loved it.
So why am I complaining? The same reason everyone is: the deplorable customer service. From my pick up taking TWO HOURS through being bullshitted by the sales woman.

Her:“Well, this one has never been to Burning Man, the rest have, multiple
this one is in much better condition. Since you’re traveling with children, you should have the best one so you’re extra safe.“
Me: «Wow! Thanks, good looking out.»
Then, as I drove home to pack up for our trip, I saw the BRC car pass still prominently displayed on the window.
I got a brief tour, where I was told not to lose the black cap on the roof. I didn’t. When it was given to me I didn’t realize it was malpositioned, as I’ve never had a JUCY van before, so the skewed cap looked to be its baseline. Guess what? It wasn’t. When I brought it back, the same girl who told me the van had never been to the Playa before then told me she would never not notice a sideways vent cap, and I was definitely to blame and would have to pay to replace it.
We also had read these reviews on our way home, and
Didn’t want to be charged out the ads for normal wear and tear, so we spent an hour hand washing and vacuuming inside and out. This resulted in me being accused of taking it through a car wash drive through. I was treated with suspicion for returning the van in good condition.
Her:“I don’t understand WHY did you clean it?
Me: «My family didn’t want to be fined $ 700 for dust and pine needles, so it was worth it to us to clean it up.»

Other CS issues: Claiming to be in SF when they are not only in the East Bay, they are in the DEEP East Bay
It pains me to give JUCY a shitty review, bc we love the product.
Additionally, be advised: There is no shuttle service, and its a $ 10(w tip) cab ride to BART.
Jennifer in LA is the best CS rep they have. Too bad she is 8hrs away. She was very helpful when we had some mechanical issues on the road.
Jucy is affordable, has a fantastic product, and is shooting itself in the foot with its lack of training and supervision of cs staff. It’s honestly as though their top competitor has a mole on the inside, who hires and trains their staff as part of an intricate plot to destroy their business.
Get your shit together, Jucy. You’re better than this.

I rented a Jucy car from San Leandro for 4 days. If I love the concept and enjoyed the funny and convenient vehicle, there has been 3 points which were not ok:
— Gas tank was half-​empty: A few miles after leaving the rental office, I realized the gas tank was close to half empty. I had to come back to the office to have the person in charge looking by herself. She previously claimed the tank was full which was untrue.
— DVD player not working: The DVD player was not working most of the trip; some water even dropped from it (yes !). I called the customer service several times, and if people were very nice and polite, we couldn’t have it working properly.
— Bad customer service at rental office (San Leandro): The vehicle I returned was moderately dirty inside (mud), because it had been raining where we traveled. The mud was very superficial, and in line with instructions received for when returning the vehicle. However, the rental office manager expressed a strong disappointment when he saw the vehicle, and asked me to leave with the vehicle and come back when fully clean, or I’d be requested $ 300 to have it cleaned by his team as would require a lot of work. I went to a close cleaning station, and got it fully manually cleaned by myself in less than 15 minutes, as again, it was only light mud. A vehicle that could be cleaned so fast clearly could be considered as moderately dirty, and doesn’t justify neither the manager’s tone and the $ 300.
These comments were sent to the customer service team in NZ who never responded.
Other negative stuffs:
— San Leandro is 2 hours from SF by public transportation… so beware if you think there is a San Francisco office
— The penthouse hasn’t air circulating well so expect to have a lot of condensation inside when you wake up in the morning. Your sleeping bad may be wet which which then become a storage issue for your day if you have lot of people in the van. There is a small fan in the penthouse, but pretty noisy if you keep it on while sleeping.
— lot of wires /​electrical cables behind seats. Not sure if really safe when you have toddlers.
— the gas cartridge for cooking was empty pretty fast. You’d better know that while you are close to shops as may be disappointing if you are in the middle of a national park
— we suspect the water tank was not full when received. Again, not a problem if we had been told so while leaving the rental office, but the local team claimed everything was full
— linen provided must have been washed at least 1000 times before (was so thin)
In summary: great concept but poorly executed, and lack of professionalism at San Leandro office.

I wanted to really love renting the Jucy campervan especially at the great price we got it for but there are so many issues that make it not ideal.
Positives
+since it’s a minivan it’s far better on gas than a larger campervan and it’s easy to drive especially for people that don’t drive vans.
+at the San Leandro location the Jucy customer service was great and they even let us return it late due to a misunderstanding and roads being closed due to rain and snow.
+ some features of the «kitchen» are great, like the frig drawer and the two stoves
+price, we had a deal through Zozi that was around 150 for three nights including bedding.
+the curtains blocked out most of the light and it was easy to set up the bed and table
+great customer service from the American head of jucy after we had horrible customer service from a NZ customer service rep.
However there some major issues we had both before getting the van and then using it.
Negatives
–the worst customer service I’ve experienced in a long time from their rep in New Zealand. The 1 – 800 number goes to New Zealand. Do not call it as they are both rude and uninformed. They listed the location as being in San Francisco but it’s in the East Bay in San Leandro. This is an issue because by public transit it’s around 2 hours from SFO and you have to take a taxi or driving it’s around 45 minutes with traffic and you have to have a car. I called to find out if it was safe to park around there and the customer service rep first told me there was paid parking but it wasn’t through jucy then she told me I could take a shuttle from SFO. Neither of these things are true. There is no airport shuttle that will take you to the location, you can hire a taxi or private car but that will cost you at least $ 75. She had no idea there was a BART station only a mile away nor is it on the website. But worst of all when I corrected her, she told me I was wrong and she didn’t have to listen to me and hung up on me. I then talked to a person at the location in San Leandro who wasn’t even a Jucy rep but knew a lot more about the parking, the head of the American division who was EXTREMELY nice and helpful and another person in New Zealand who was nice but clearly protecting his coworker. I don’t think it’s an unrealistic expectation to know how people can get to your location especially if you are dealing with tourists and misinformation is never a good idea. As it’s only 26 miles from the Airport but transit is very different in the US than it is in Europe or NZ.
Also it turns out that business location that Jucy rents from has a private car service that for 8 dollars flat will take you to the BART station. No one at Jucy seemed to know about it but it would be great to include that on the website or with customer service reps.
–the fold down bed in the campervan is too short for anyone over 5’9″.
–the only way to have a heater on is with the car running and most national park camp sites and many campground have rules about no noise including engines from 10pm to 6am. We ended running it twice a night because it was so cold in Yosemite in April.
–we couldn’t use the penthouse because it was too cold up there and there was no heating. Also the only access is from outside up a rather tiny ladder. I would be afraid of both kids and large adults being on it.
–there is not enough space for 4 people. The bed below smaller so better for kids but I think many parents would be uncomfortable not being able to see thier kids at night. We only had one bag each but other than under one bench and moving the table there isn’t any storage.
–you can’t access the kitchen from inside like most campvans and we didn’t use the «sink» as it doesn’t have real gray water tanks and you have to return it fully dumped since they don’t have facilities on site. Too much space was taken up by the silverware tray and there were no knifes to cut with nor serving utensils.
–the worst was the «all in included bedding» was two thin tiny blankets that would have kept one person warm using both. We would have brought sleeping bags or blankets if they had been honest.
–The brake disks or pads need to be replaced. My spouse mentioned this when they returned the campervan.
–the DVD system and Heat control are poorly place and I hit my head on them many times. Who still uses DVDs?
Overall we made due and it was a great price and a fun adventure but I would not rent a Jucy campervan again due to the size issues with the bed, the ignorance of the customer service and the location. If they had larger beds and better communication I probably would rent from them as I love the concept.

I rented a Jucy from the San Leandro location last week and I LOVED IT!!! We couldn’t have been more excited to pick this little RV up and drive it to Yosemite. It was very easy to drive, worked perfectly in our campsite and was a lot more comfortable than our tent!
The staff at pickup/​dropoff was wonderful. She showed us everything, was so kind, really very nice.
I loved everything about the Jucy! I actually would like to buy one when they are done renting them, if you are listening Lucy… call me!

I was well aware of the void in the RV/​camper rental market before I discovered JUCY by chance through a flyer in San Francisco. Since I am a city-​dweller, I don’t have a car, and neither does my boyfriend. It’s expensive to rent a car bigger than a compact, and normal RV rentals are so expensive that I wondered, «seriously, who actually pays for this?!»
Enter JUCY. I made a reservation online, got a quote, all the info was provided and questions answered. Turns out the system somehow let me reserve a van for pickup on a day when JUCY is closed, but I got an email from a manager asking me to give her a call to work something out. They let me pick up a day early with no extra cost, and that was the beginning of some seriously awesome customer service. Not sure who people leaving other reviews were dealing with, but I had several big issues come up and had some great outcomes result.
As for the adventure itself, we had an absolutely amazing time. When we woke up in the «penthouse» portion in the morning, we would pack up in less than 5 minutes and get back on highway 1. Rather than sticking around our campsite, we drove to gorgeous overlooks and made proper breakfasts with eggs, bacon, and the like, with spectacular views. It really opened our eyes to what’s possible when everything you need can be brought along for the ride. We’d rented a spot at a campground, but decided that it won’t really be necessary for our next time (and there will definitely be a next time). It doesn’t have a toilet/​shower, but depending on how «earthy» you are and where you’re traveling, that’s not an issue.
We were only two staying in the JUCY, but the van could definitely accommodate 4. The only issue on that front would be storage of personal items. There is some storage space under the bed/​seat in the rear, but it’s a bit difficult to get to on a regular basis (ie when the lower bed is made up and we just want to grab something before heading away from the car). We started referring to it as «deep storage». For our next trip we decided that bringing some simple plastic storage bins would make the transformation from seat to bed and access to deep storage much easier. That way, the stuff we had sitting around on the floor in the back could be easily moved. There is also some kitchen equipment I’d probably leave behind (i.e. there is a kettle as well as a coffee pot) in favor of using the storage space in the back for cooking equipment as well as pantry storage. Looking forward to figuring out more hacks to make the JUCY rental work perfectly for us.

This is a fun van at a great price. Drives nicely and even though it has the roof carrier/​bed on top it is not moved by winds. It gets good gas mileage and is quite comfortable in all seats. I’d recommend that they not attach the seat cushions that are used for the bed to the center console. Because they are attached you can’t 1) move the front seats all the way back and 2) make up the bed while driving. Having the bed accessible while driving would be helpful with elderly folks who need to have their legs raised on long trips.
The location is not convenient so a free ride to BART would turn this four star rating to a five!

JUCY Rentals is a New Zealand company however they are expanding to the States and I would highly recommend BOYCOTTING this company based on personal experience in New Zealand and reviews on TripAdvisor. They are a ruthless, fast-​growing business hiding under pretty colors.
We were going to be driving for 3 – 5 hours everyday in New Zealand so we wanted a car that was reliable and comfortable. For $ 200 for 6 days, they gave us an old beat-​up Hyundai with over 150,000 miles. They also ask for a $ 2,000 «bond» hold on your credit card for their crappy rental, that major car rental companies usually don’t ask for. The car felt very shaky and even stalled on us when we drove just 1 mile out of the rental lot! We immediately drove back to JUCY rentals to return the car and ask for a full refund. They offered us another car, but after looking at the rest of the cars on their rental lot, they all were old beat-​up cars from the ‘90s.
It is UNSAFE to rent from JUCY. It is totally worth going to another reliable car rental company (e.g. Avis, Budget, etc.) and paying a little extra. We ended up going to Avis and renting a very comfortable brand-​new 2013 Toyota Corolla for $ 300/​week, and it totally made the driving experience much more pleasant with a more superior handling car.
