December 22nd Tuesday with an order for hot dogs at the time I asked how are things going today I was told they were going very well because the person that was making the dogs was sick and I said well don’t you think you should go home she said well there’s nobody here to cover for me so if I’m sick everybody else will have to get sick well damn it guess what happen the three of us are sick I cannot believe it well one thing about it is we’re all neighbors and we don’t live together and we just decided to go down and have a hot dog I’m just got this and hold because we go there often my suggestion was called the health department and file a complaint for precise words were when I ask who’s the owner and she wouldn’t tell me and she SAT there on the phone while we were eating our lunch talking to whoever she was telling them how sick she was and I wish she was unbelievable how did religion like that have the audacity and no empathy whatsoever to the general public so I am calling the health department giving him names times etc but I go back to this facility absolutely not that with an attitude like that and the worst thing was if she wasn’t a young girl she was a very mature individual I guess is the proper way of it waiting who she was me I want a saddle bag so few recommendations when they sniffle and don’t wash their hands when preparing your food beware we did not see her wash her hands once cuz we learned our lesson

The hot dog was cold and so was the service. We had gotten Jasper’s hotdogs at Costco this summer and they were really good, but this one was so cold and barely had any mustard on it. I hope not all locations are like this. I may try a different location…

I know, I know… hot dogs are bad for you… but I’ve been enjoying Kasper’s dogs and Orange Fizz since I was younger than my little one. They are an East Bay institution; the Hesperian branch in SL is part of a long-time tradition. You walk up to the counter, order your dog and fixings, add a bag of chips and a drink, and the older lady will hook you up with an all-American lunch. True, some odd folks come through(which is why I keep my little one at my side at all times.) The ladies at the counter may not always wear gloves or wash their hands to your germaphobe liking. The dogs are old school though in recent years, they’ve added a chicken dog. You’re in SL; if you want a high-falutin artisanal sausage, you best take BART or drive somewhere else.

Love this place. Too back this isn’t a chain. I can here is get a bit to eat. I love this. Used to go to the Castro Valley location a lot when I lived in Castro Valley. This location rocks. I love Kasper’s hotdogs. This place rocks. I would come back here if I’m ever in the area.

Stay away from the tamale. Hot dogs, you can’t make a bad decision. The chili looks like it could be from a bag of sorts but it ain’t bad. I’ve had the chili dog, the original hot dog, the double dog. Please note, they do not make fries. Just chips. Me making this review is making me hungry.

Middle aged woman stuck her hands in the hot dog bin and cheese tray while building our dogs, then handled our cash and the next customer without washing hands. Really?! I didn’t quite know what to say. Paid for our food then promptly threw it in the trash before walking out the door. No thanks.

Call me weird but I come here for the tamales. Chicken or Beef and put everything on it! The tamales are steaming hot and you can add tamale sauce, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, and shredded cheese. There’s usually only one person working, so if there’s a line, be prepared to wait. Also, always check your receipt. Once I paid $ 6 for 2 tamales and today I was charged $ 12 for the same thing?

Great dogs, the kids love it! Although it’s kind of hard to justify eating out at a hotdog place these days with so many good products in the supermarket, if you’re in the area and its the right place at the right time, this is a great place to grab a dog.

Gotta love an old fashion hot dog! They also have an amazing tamale… topped with chili and cheese. Yum! Small location that’s never too crowded and a friendly staff. Very well kept spot.

«Feed Me More» I’m kind of a nerd. I just quoted a WWE wrestler named Ryback(he’s always hungry for more competition). Anyway, that’s how I feel when I go to Kasper’s. After I’m done eating, I still want more. I went here on Monday with my blow up doll(I forgot that it was in my backpack). I was surprised and impressed right away. In terms of ambiance, this is the nicest location I’ve ever been to(my doll even snuck a look). It’s lively and a bit colorful. It’s also cozy inside and somewhat big(as compared to most locations). The cashier was reading the paper when I walked inside. The only other customer around was a blond woman who was talking loudly on her phone. I was soon greeted, and the cashier was nice and quick. I received my hot dogs in less than 2 minutes(I barely had time to catch my breath– I quickly walked here from the Bay Fair BART Station). Some prices: Kasper’s Regular Dog: $ 3.09. ½ lb.: $ 3.79. Chips: $.99. Tamale(Chicken or Beef): $ 3.70. Nachos: $ 1.99. The seating capacity is 24(the tables and chairs are fine), and I found the restaurant to be quite clean. I didn’t receive a receipt, but I can’t say that this is unusual. The napkins are small and cheap. This is common at Kasper’s too. The parking lot is small. It’s nice, though, that the restaurant is off to the right by itself. I give my hot dogs a 9⁄10. I only wanted mayo and ketchup on them. I received a nice amount of mayo, but the buns were a bit saturated with ketchup. This was actually fine, though(the ketchup is light in taste– so is the mayo). I was pleased that the buns held up well(the hot dogs were in my backpack awhile, and the bag got somewhat crushed). My hot dogs were very tasty and juicy. There was also a light snap when I bit into them(this is a normal quality of Kasper’s hot dogs). The atmosphere here is casual, and the hot dogs are definitely worth buying. I will be back for sure.

Kasper’s(all of them, dammit!) are the absolute best hot dogs in the world. Seriously. I can’t express this enough. There just aren’t enough words. I mean, I enjoy a good hot dog, but I don’t generally go out of my way to eat them. While I enjoy a good penis joke and other phallus-related things like everyone else, hot dogs are not really something that strike my fancy. But I just can’t help myself when I drive by Kasper’s. I’ll have just eaten and literally stop in to grab one«for later.» They’re a Bay Area institution and I’m glad to see some of them still around. The one in my hometown of Union City has been gone for a while(if I remember correctly, they were never ever to reopen after someone drove their car through the front windows of the store…). If you like hot dogs, come into Kasper’s. I’m a sucker for them.

Stop being so damn sensitive! If you are giving this place a bad review because the woman didn’t wear gloves, think about all the places you go to where the employees wear gloves? I say a handful. Does your momma wear gloves when she is cooking dinner for you? I rest my case. I love this place, and I have never gotten sick eating here. And this coming from a misophobe(no, I’m not a afraid of miso soup it’s just that germaphobe is slang homie). With that said, I want to scream from every rooftop in Randy Jackson fashion, «They’re good dawg!» My husband and I usually order a Kasper’s Dog with relish, mustard, tomatoes and onions with either a side of potato salad or a bag of baked jalapeño chips. I haven’t received a bad product or service and I’ve been going to their East Bay locations since 2007. Perhaps it’s because I walk in with a smile and sunny disposition. Nobody wants to talk to a Crabby Patty, ya heard!

Hi Kaspers I was trying to locate a better web site for your company. I have been a long time costumer for over 52 years. maybe more. — Of course i enjoy your product. How can I contact your Nor Cal main office. I need to share a situation that happen at your 15251 Hesperian Boulevard location. One of the charms of your company is your older women staff. and over the years as grumpy as some of them get, Its always fun to see the staff come and go as each lady retires or moves on. On Sunday July 3rd at 5:55pm at the san leandro location listed in my note, I had a very awkward situation with one of your senior ladies staff as she, I think she was trying to close the restaurant early.(i didn’t mind her rudeness — thats the charm of Kaspers). I would like to share how it went down, with a person who runs staffing at that loaction. — I want make sure my note gets to the correct person who should I contact — in order to make a proper complaint. Thank you (sad hotdog costumer)

Kaspar’s is right next to quickly’s but they don’t share the same parking lot sampling: kaspar’s regular dog(2.99) –dog smothered with mustard, relish, tomatos, and diced onions. –wonder bun wasn’t steamed enough. –dog had snap, some juice, but taste wasn’t there. toppings: –lady never wore gloves, used hands to grab onions, tomatos –saw lady washed hands later before servicing another patron. –probably will try another location before returning here. 2.5 stars.
