Modern Nails

I strongly feel happy and appreciative by the owner Jenny who helped me today for Gel designed manicure and pedicure services. Today when I walked into the salon was already 6:15pm, its only half hour away from closing, but she greeted me with a big smile and friendly eye contact. I was worry at first she doesn’t have time to do gel nail for me so I kindly asked for regular Manicure. but later as we talked to each other, she complement me a lot and made me feel so comfortable, and I like to make friend with her, and later she suggest me to do gel nails and she said she can do designed for me as well, even she need to stay over time, she told me that she love what she does, and she thanked me for letting her help me design! she is very humble and very passion about what she does.
When I leave its already 8pm, and she gave me a new flip flops for free because she likes me a lot too, and she took out a paper bag and carefully put my shoes in and carry my arms off the chair. omg so caring!
Not only that, she is a lovely caring person, she constantly asking me she hurt me and please let her know, she really do not want to hurt me, I felt she was very sincere. At the end, I really love her design and her care. I have never felt this way for the past 5 years of going to any nail salons. I also usually don’t really spend time to write review, but I have to write it, because I like her so much! She made my night even I was moody before I go to do nails.
Thanks so much Jenny, you made me feel like a queen!

Jenny is very sweet and pays a lot of attention to detail. She is a great listener. I’ve been getting my nails done for over 16 years in San Jose with the same nail tech and I felt very comfortable with Jenny doing my fill. This is definitely my new go to spot in San Leandro for my nails!

Any reviews before April 2015 pertained to the old owner. It is now under new owner and new management. .I know of this because I read the negative reviews back to 2012 and 2013 and ask Peter and Jenny .the new existing employee or owner! Since the new owner took over since April 2015, the reviews has been excellent and I totally agreed!
I had my nails done here for the past 3 months. One of the main reason why I came back here was… I got so many compliments from my co-​workers and customers. Most importantly, some of my customers are nail shop owners. They said whoever do my nails was very artistic. I had different designs every time I go there.
Second reason, Jenny take her time doing my nails and not rushing it. She make me feel important. Always offered coffee and waters. Always smiling.
Third reason, this place is so clean… the soft music and waterfall in background… I can truly relaxed and don’t feel like I am at a flea market like some nail shop.
Please make appt when you come. This way you don’t need to wait.
Jenny spoiled me… I can’t imagine going anywhere else now.

I will definitely be back here! I was so happy with my visit! As soon as I walked in I was greeted with such a big smile and was attended right away. I came in for a pedicure and an eyebrow wax. The lady (I’m assuming the owner) was the sweetest person I’ve probably ever dealt with at a nail salon. She makes sure you feel comfortable and relaxed and is very attentive. My pedicure was great and the price was very reasonable, $ 20.
I also liked how my eyebrows came out and I’m such a nerve wreck when it comes to trusting someone with my eyebrows, but she did great.
Overall I paid $ 30 and was very pleased with my experience. Thankyou! And I will be back.

The managers of this shop are a man and woman who are both very nice. Huong Do or Jenny as customers call her does excellent french and regular manicures as well as pedicures and fills etc. Peter, her husband is a hairstylist and I’ve seen haircuts and he does very well.
Jenny does all she can to make a customer feel welcome and pleased with the work. They have music playing in the background which is relaxing and a fountain that gives it a very tranquil and peaceful feel.
If you want a place that’s always crowded and/​or noisy then this is not for you BUT if you really want to feel pampered and made to feel special then this IS the place for you. The only drawback is that Jenny is the only one that does nails so it’s best to make an appt before showing up as you may have to wait or she’ll ask if you can return a little later. It is so refreshing to come to Modern Nails and feel like a person and not have to return to the places that are fast and may be good but make on feel like they are herding cattle the way they get one in and out of their establishment.
They just got new spa chairs and they are great! Very clean. If you’ve been there once, you will return.
They do waxing and facials as well and it makes you feel like a million bucks after one of her facials.
I always try to give my business to small establishments that are good and this is one of them.
Need to try at least once.

I love the new owners of this nail & hair salon shop. They are very nice. They know what they doing. Definitely will come back. Love it.

Came in early on a sunday, and I was the only customer. I got a pedicure. The woman was very gentle but thorough. The massage chairs (or at least the one I sat in) is getting a little old. The gears feel like they’re starting to struggle. I also asked to add a little flower on each big toe, and she also included a little rhinestone. That was unexpected and nice.
They had music playing, but it wasn’t my favorite. Instrumentals of all types of songs, but they were very 1980s-​Hallmark-​movie sounding, like they were all recorded using the different instrument sounds from a keyboard lol. Oh well, it wasn’t annoying at least.
I’d come back again.

Customer service was nice, the lady gave me some candy, she would always thank me for waiting. I got a French Manicure and Pedicure. My toes look like I got them done a couple days ago instead of fresh. The white on my nails are really thick, I asked her for a blue and silver flower on my ring finger because it’s my prom coming and she drew something else and put PINK in it. My dress is BLUE AND SILVER.

My boyfriend and I came here we both got pedi ani got a fill. The spa chairs that the have are amazing i could had take a nape, Everything was clean and sterile she was friendly and nice and when i had asked her how long she was doing nails for she told me 20 years. She made sure i liked the color and the length of my nails for the two pedi and fill we only paid $ 65 which isn’t bad at all we will be coming here again.

So… my feet are all jacked up. I won’t accuse them of being the reason for this but let’s be real… before I went in for a pedicure, my feet were fine, a week and a half later they are, let’s just say… not ready for sandals. They are peeling and not of the nature that I just had a pedicure a short time ago. Going to have to go to CVS now to get some foot cream. Lame.

Ok this is gonna be long… I go in after work to get a manicure to this salon. I sit down and she starts to do my nails right away, and I start to see the down fall. She starts to pull on my cuticles and it hurts (she soaked my hands in cold ass water) I tell her to be careful. I told her I didn’t want to cut down my nails just a light shaping will do. No she starts to file away I pulled my hand away and told her not to much jeez. She rubbed oil on my nails and took a brush dipped it in the water… had water on my face She did a horrible job on the French tip I had to tell her to start again. At the end she sprayed my one hand and said go dry it, I was like I have two hands can you spray this one too. I also asked them if they put lotion on and massage the hands the other lady was like «yeah yeah we massage and clean down with warm towel». I was like well I didn’t get anything like that done and she charged my credit card first. She was like oh So sorry I forgot lets put it on now I was like NO my nails are drying and I want to get out ASAP I can put lotion on myself thanks for nothing. I’m not ever going back to this shitty nail salon again. NO TIP for a half assed job.

I’ve been going to this nail shop for a few years off and on usually for a pedi since I live fairly close
pros: Ok this nail shop is clean the nail techs are friendly and there prices are reasonable .
com: although the name says modern nails they not that modern i went in for the new 3D NAILS and to my disappointment they don’t do 3D are rockstar nails with the glitter. So for the basic french manicure yes if you like to go more modern (hint) this is not the shop for you.

I love the natural look of a pretty french mani and they do one of the best I’v seen. This place also does a great wax.

been going to this nail shop for over 7 years. have «Tu» do you nails. best pedicures are given bhy the gal with the shorter hair and less make up. really clean salon and inexpensive. will do all kinds of custom designs and they also wax.
