Spectrum Body & Paint

We used Spectrum several times before we retired and moved to San Luis Obispo. I got rear ended twice commuting to work (by drivers who couldn’t find a better time to use their phones…) We also recommended Spectrum to a couple relatives. Each and every time, the work was done extremely well and the level of service was outstanding.
During our current visit to the Bay Area I happened to scrape the back fender of our car against a retaining wall. Hoping that it would be a relatively easy repair and paint job I popped into Spectrum today. The result was even better than I expected. Most of the apparent damage was merely paint transfer. The owner (I’m not sure if it was Randy or Glen) brought out some solvents and buffing solutions and 98% of the «damage» disappeared as he carefully rubbed the fender. I am okay with the remaining little scratch which is barely noticeable. I offered to pay for the work but it was done for no charge.
This shop has been in business for around 20 years and has a strong clientele. Unlike newer businesses they do not request or need Unilocal reviews to be successful. Nonetheless I feel it is important to give them a review. This is truly a reputable business that I would six stars to if possible.

Oops, I should have reviewed them MUCH earlier, I was here last in Sept of 2011…
My car seems to be a magnet for bad drivers, as I have been in two accidents in two years, neither my fault.
Both times I brought my car here for repairs, and both times it was going through the other persons insurance. Glen and Randy were saints, since the other person’s insurance rep gave them a hard time apparently, and my car was with them for about three weeks while they fought to get approval for the repair costs (while I was forced to drive a horrible rental PT Cruiser around town).
The first time I was rear ended, the obvious damage was to the back of the car and trunk area, but they looked under the car and saw that the motor mounts had been cracked as well (I had been hit pretty hard). I appreciated them doing such a thorough check and making sure the other person was held accountable for ALL damages sustained. I was kept in the loop the whole time, and they never acted bothered when I called to check up.
I hope I am done being run over by other cars, but in the meantime I plan to have them do some work for me for cosmetic purposes (note to self: never put a bike rack on a trunk that has a spoiler… it’s not so good for the paint…) I trust these guys!!!

Can’t believe this place has so few reviews!
Glen went out of his way to help me paint over a paint chip on my new car. He provided advice about the options for repair and explained the process clearly. Excellent customer service, timely fashion, and a great price.

I know both owners, Glen and Randy for almost 20 years, and they are always acting professionally whenever (thanks God, not too often) I brought my cars in for body repairs. They are courteous, helpful and most of all very knowledgeable. They never cut corners and instead will go extra miles in making the jobs done right. About two years ago, when my 1991 MBZ’s driver seat was for some reason not functioning, Randy found me an used (new is not available) seat and painstaking took out the working parts and put them in the driver seat. Recently, the rear passenger side wheel of the same car was hit. The wheel bent inward and looked unrepairable. But Glen patiently explained to me what needed to be done and even argued with State Farm on a part which he thought should be replaced. Needless to say, I appreciate their honesty, integrity and workmanship and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
