The Art of Braiding

Went back again for the third time. I got braids this time. I just love this place. These ladies really take pride in their work. My hair is FLAWLESS. I LOVE my hair.

I absolutely love this place! My braids are neat and I am very satisfied with the service rendered.

I went in for my first try with the Art of Braiding salon yesterday and Will Go Back. I had my hair done in 2 strand kinky twist by Meatta’s (The Owner’s) Mom and she did a fabulous job. She has been braiding for 30+ years and she Knows what she is doing.

Got my daughters hair done here and they were fast. They did her hair great. I am definitely coming back. We love Miata. She is soo personable and her customer service is remarkable. She always makes us feel welcome. My daughter goes in for singles and is done very quickly. We love to go in and chat with Miata as well. I will continue to go to her when any of my 3 daughters need their hair braided.

Miata is an extremely skilled, professional, and friendly hair braider. She makes sure each braid is neat after braiding each one. Her mom did my two strand twist with kinky curly hair and I was very pleased with her work as well. 2 people worked on me from 9 to 6 and it came out beautifully. She did not cheat me on the twist, she made sure the parting space was small, and the amount of hair used was exactly what I wanted, (a lot). Creating a very FULL and not scimpy at all. The ladies speak English in the shop and include you in the conversation, and are very positive and professional in demeanor. Miata is hilarious and had me laughing to tears telling me a few funny stories about her family. I will definitely be back, her prices are extremely affordable for the Bay Area! I am an avid micro braid and twist wearer, and this was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a while. I’m extremely tender headed, and the ladies were very understanding and compensated for my soft scalp. The shop is a no frills, basic, not fancy lay out, but the work they do and their pleasant personalities make up for the lack of interior design. I plan on having Miata do my micro braids next after watching her finish another clients hair beautifully. Happy I tried her business after reading the Unilocalers here!

I have been going to this shop for years!!! Miata always dose my hair and sometimes if it’s a big job she will even come in and help they do amazing work and I will always come back to get my hair braided even if I take a break ! They are amazing if you want amazing work and great looking hair go to the art of braiding you will not be disappointed !!!

I’ve been coming here for little over 5 years and I have no plans on stopping. Miata does amazing works, she’s neat and really makes sure she not pulling your hair out (which is important). I’ve been happy with the results every time.

I been a client of the Art of Braiding for 20yrs. This is my extended family. Miata is my main braider. I have been a satisfied customer… Fepe started braiding my hair first. I love this place. The shop is close to home for me, I have all great things to say about my people.

I loved this place she calls and confirms your appointment .I don’t know if the other person who written the review before me went to the same shop… I went in and made a appointment for 7:30am and she was on time and ready to go… She did not conplain about the hair color i choose or anything… I paid 200.00 and it was well worth it she didn’t try to cheat when it came to braiding it. Mind u I got singles and any hairs that was sticking up out of the braid she cut them one by one… We had some great convo we took one brake besides when eaither of us had to go to the restroom, she had wounderful stories to tell about her life before she start braiding when she was a professional dancer… I didn’t give her a tip I felt like I jus gave her 200.00 lol. but she was sooooo great now all my family go there and enjoys the service as well I will be going back in Febuary and look forward to the trip…

for a place named the art of braiding there is nothing artistic about this place.
this place is very plane and unattractive. if you like staring at walls while you get your hair braided then this place is for you. no music no movies to watch, just the news and rude Africans.
ok so Ive been coming to this place off and on for a while since about 2001. not every time i get my hair braided just off and on. as total i probably been there over 3 times. and all three times were bad.
the lady there is awfully fake and awfully rude.
she always tries to change your opinion about what you want. i came in there knowing exactly what i want and she kept trying to change it. she made it obvious she didn’t like the colors i wanted in my hair, but its like its ur job to braid it not color it.
she was pretty un-​inviting.
she even cheated while braiding my hair. after i specifically made it clear i do not like it when braiders try to cheat my braids. (basically: towards the middle of the hair while getting singles she will french braid it to make it quicker for her but when styling as desired makes it hard depending on what style you want… like a PONY TAIL)
after this particular time i gave her exactly what she asked for (price wise) which was pretty expensive.
then when she saw there was no tip she stomped her foot and started whining in african.
shes been a witch every time Ive gone there. shes pretty rude. and like i said theres nothing in this shop that makes you want to be there.
and you have to walk hecka far into the other building in order to go to the bathroom. and its not a comforting bathroom either. very plane
the other times Ive been there Ive all ways left saying I’m not going back here.
the only reasons id been going there is bc it was close to my house and i was still new to the neighbor hood.
