The White House Events

Poor follow up. Poor follow through. Having an educated discussion appears to be an impossibility. In short just go somewhere else. I wasted many hours of my life I will not get back. Lesson learned

I have used them several times for my holiday party. i called them on Monday and today is Thursday and still no call back. i called the emergency number to find out that they don’t do single orders of jambalaya during the months of Nov/​Dec. And why inst this listed on your site. And why didn’t someone call-​me back. I try to support my people but they need to get it together. I’m making my own and saving lots of money. No more referrals from me.

I am planning a wedding and I was looking to use this company for an outside catering event. I gave the owner a draft menu ahead of time through e-​mail. My friend and I go and meet with her at the facility in the pics. She was talking about everything but pricing. I expected at a bare minimum, pricing for the food. Nada. She had one picture of a decorating job she did from 9 years ago. The rest of the pics she scrolled through her phone. I kept asking her to give me some numbers to work with. I left more anxious and nervous than before I came. And those of you who have ever been a bride-​to-​be or event planner know that you dont need anyone creating EXTRA jitters. She WASTED my time and STILL has not given me a quote on the food and decorating services and its been two weeks. I gave her a pretty liberal budget to work with too. I have gotten quotes from 3 other caterers since then, one with a day turn around. Guess who I’m going with.
I do contracts at my day job. It has been a standard rule in my book, that how a business acts before you sign is a very telling story of how they will act after they get the contract. Her buffet may be good but her business acumen for event planning and catering is poor.
If you are a person who loves organization, steer clear of this lady/​company.

These people are GREAT event planners. My family has used the white house for 3 big parties, (and even catered thanksgiving and Christmas at our home), and we along with our guests are ALWAYS more than pleased with the awesome service, food, and décor. The owners are always in the mix, personally assuring the quality of each detail. I will be using this business any time I have an event to plan! Oh, and even though it’s awesome, they do more than soul food!

I am a permanently disabled senior who was invited to an event at this venue on July 28^th. I arrived via Paratransit, but unfortunately I arrived early. I suffer from multiple conditions, am visually impaired, and it is a challenge for me to simply walk and to keep my balance. The workers were working very hard to set up for the event so I reluctantly knocked on the door and asked if I could take a seat in the corner near the doorway. The employee returned and said NO, because they were buffing the floors, I asked if I could use a chair and sit outside, but I assume that the very cruel owner instructed his staff t get away from the door and to ignore me. There was one very nice young lady who showed signs of compassion, but she couldn’t help me without permission. They just left me standing outside. The part that gets me is that I was an invited guest. It surprised me that a service oriented business lacked even human concern for an elderly person with a disability in distress, if you can call being early distress. WOW. I was wearing a prosthetic boot on my left foot due to a partial amputation of that foot. I spoke to the owner, a male, asking about ADA law compliance. He yelled at me that it was not mandatory that he comply with the ADA laws since he is not open, and he didn’t have time to talk to me because he had to open on time. OK, what about just being HUMAN, But this guy was rude, crude, cold, and uncaring. In all of my years of living I have never met such an evil male. I thought to myself that even Jack in the Box would allow me to sit down.
I realized that you can serve nice food, have nice décor, but have a cruel HEART.
I had a great time because of the people that I was with, but this owner needs a CONSCIENCE and a HEART.

If Unilocal offered 10 stars it wouldn’t be enough to rate this venue properly. We had our father’s 80^th birthday at White House Events today and it was a huge success. First let me say that working with Chanel and Trina in planning the party was effortless. They know their stuff! Today, the day of the party, all I had to do was walk in the door and enjoy myself. They took care of every little detail. They were professional, friendly and anticipated our every need. The food was out of this world!!! The venue is lovely and tasteful. Even the bathrooms are spotless! Honestly, I can’t think of one critisizm. If you’re planning a special event, you will be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t at least check them out. I can’t praise them highly enough. Kudo’s to the staff at White House. You guys rock!

Yum, yum, yum. My first experience with oxtails. Delicious. The oxtails and jambalaya were favorites though the cornbread was close. I’m a big fan of mac and cheese but with so many things I wanted to try, I just had a taste. Glad I didn’t skip it entirely. The greens were just a little salty for me (I’m not a big salter.) My only complaint – napkins were a bit flimsy-​not a big deal, I just ended up needing a second. I’ll definitely be going again.

This is some great soul food. They have a buffet on Sundays from 1 PM — 7 PM and have take out available on Fridays from noon until 7 PM. Today the buffet included oxtails (some of the best I’ve ever had!), rice, cornbread stuffing, turkey wings (also very good), fried chicken wings (tasty), mac and cheese, corn bread, candied yams, greens, salad, gumbo and jambalaya. They also had chocolate cake and peach cobbler for dessert but we were too full so skipped that. Service was really friendly and everyone seemed to care if we were enjoying the food. New pans of food came out often so nothing was old from sitting around too long. They had hot tea, lemonade, sweet tea, and water to go with the meal. Standard buffet price is $ 25 for adults.
Note that this isn’t the California (light) soul food that the Purple Plum (R.I.P) used to serve — this is the full flavor, full everything real deal. Wifey is out walking a borrowed dog to digest while I peck this out. She loved the greens and was also a fan of the oxtails that were delicious and oh so tender.
