My grandfather, Bill Benton, opened this barber shop in the 1940s and retired/sold it in the 60s; I am so glad to see it is still in business! I remember sitting in the chairs as a tiny little girl watching men get shaved and being so scared for them. It looks exactly the same as it did 60 years ago!

Small shop. But clean and has that ‘old fashion’ look to it. I’ve always called ahead and have been able to get in within 60 minutes. The barber is always friendly. If I ever need a cut and I’m in this area, I’ll be a repeat customer.

In town one day. No hours posted so I call. No answer. I walk by. Closed. Door locked. No hours posted, no sign in the window. Lights are on, but nobody’s home. Lost biz.

all 3 barbers here have cut my hair, and I like them all. they do a great job, have a good sense of humor, and charge a fair price. all in all it is a nice old fashion barber shop.

Stopped in at Anderson because I couldn’t get to my regular barber during the week. Josh provided an excellent haircut! PROS: old school feel; easy going atmosphere; more scissors than electric razors; Josh repeated to me what I wanted and proceeded to cut my hair to my specs CONS: nope The building has housed a barber shop since 1943?! Damn! My cut was $ 18 and it was worth it. I’ll be going back.

I was in SLO for my daughters wedding at the Madonna Inn July 14, 2012. An hour and a half before the wedding I was getting cleaned up and into my tux when my shaver broke while trimming up. In a Total Panic I ran into town. I found this barber shop and told the barber there my dilemma. I was totally nerve wracked by this time with only approx an hour before the wedding. The barber(i apologise for not getting his name… closest chair to the window) sat me down… did his best to calm me down and went to work. He went above and beyond for me and did a GREAT job!!! After he finished, I asked him what I owed him for the trim; I would have given him near anything at that point. Instead, he told me, «It’s your daughters wedding, have a great time, no charge!» I just wanted to say thank you for being such a great person. I will never forget your kindness to me.

If you are a man looking for a man’s haircut then this is the shop for you. You’ll be talked to and treated like a man and you’ll walk out looking like a man. I read the previous reviews and that’s OK, those sallys can go to a stylist if they want to be coddled or supercuts if they want an instant haircut that’ll make you look like a wal-mart greeter. Ray’s sense of humor is almost as sharp as his scissors and there is no one in town who has a better pulse on the goings on of the community. He is great with kids and the kind of barber that you would gladly let become a fixture in your life. That barber chair isn’t just where a man can get his hair cut it is an inner sanctum that leaves you looking great when you walk away.

A couple different guys have chairs here but Ray is the man to see. Mens cuts, plus haircuts for women too. The cuts are good and grow out nicely, but this is the SLOWEST shop I’ve ever seen! 20-minutes plus in the chair just for a basic trim? Thank god Ray doesn’t charge by the hour. Ray encourages appointments, and, while that eliminates waiting, it doesn’t change the fact that Ray just works really slow.

Ray has been cutting my hair for the last 25 years, and I wouldn’t go any place else. Truly a great experience that leaves you looking sharp.

We’ve been taking our son to Anderson’s for over a year and always been very pleased with the service and cut. The barbers are very friendly, and their friendliness extends to my daugthers who sit waiting(not always so patiently) for little brother to be done! The price is right in line with what we have paid at other barbershops.

Stopped in there several years ago while my regular barber was on vacation. There was a customer in the chair and no one waiting. The first words out of the barber’s mouth were, «Do you have an appointment?» No «Hello» or pleasant greeting to a potential new customer. I left and have never gone back and never will.
