Cheap with a huge menu. Seriously a ton of different things, not just Mexican. When ever I eat here, I feel like I need to sleep forever. It will hit you kinda heavy.

Over the past couple of months the quality of food has gone down by a lot. During my past couple of visits for a burrito; it was composed of 60−70% rice even though the menu claims to have a wide variety of other ingredients. Save your money and go to one of the other many, many Mexican restaurants in Slo.

This was my 1st time at this location… it was no one else eating so I was very nervous. I got chille relleons plate that came with rice and beans. It was a very large chille relleon and to my surprise they made them with chicken and cheese. It was pretty good and very filling. Oh it was also served with corn or flour tortillas(I had corn). The staff wasn’t rude but they weren’t to friendly. They just were there, now there was a guy who cleaned the tables maybe the owner that was very nice and spoke to me. But if I’m ever in SLO again I would try another dish or maybe the same.

Addicted to the chicken nachos here and the way they make their pico de gallo!!! The only prob I ever had was when there was no chips for nachos and it was barely noon. I had to go elsewhere that day and haven’t went back since… in fear of no chips for my nachos lol

$ 6.50 for a pitcher of laguinitas IPA during happy hour. best beer deal in SLO. Plus they have a $ 5 burrito deal at the same time(I believe 3−6pm) that’s also bomb and they get the food out to you really quick. Even when it’s not happy hour the laguinitas pitchers are around $ 8 and they have others even cheaper. Outdoor and indoor seating — both nice and they have 2 TVs inside. Honestly this place should be packed every day but it never is.

Love the food here, been here a few times and it’s always consistent. Awesome traditional Mexican beverages on a soda fountain. This is definitely a cute family owned restaurant, the lady who served me was very nice.

Moved here from the San Francisco Bay Area and have been searching for a good«Mission» style burrito. I think my search is over :-) I was at the UPS store next door and decided to try this restaurant. I talked to the guy behind me in line about what he normally orders and he recommended the chicken burrito. I ordered the grande with no salsa, no pico de gallo, and no onions. They made it quickly, which was great because I was on my lunch break. As I picked it up they asked if I wanted chips, heck yeah! It was not as large as the Mission style burritos in the Bay Area, but it was nice and large with big chunks of chicken. I wish there was a bit more sour cream, and next time I will try the black beans instead of the refried. I will definitely be back for another grande burrito. I liked how the tortilla was moist and yet still held together. I didn’t order any drink and it cost less than $ 10, plus tip. I liked how their credit card system lets you add a tip automatically instead of prompting you with % amounts that are based on the total amount of the bill(not pre-tax). I was so hungry I didn’t take a pic, but I will before I eat my next burrito! I also liked how they have a picture of the items that come on the burrito so you can make sure you aren’t surprised by an ingredient. Update: I went here a couple days later and the burrito was mostly rice and was cold. So bummed, thought I had finally found a reliable place to get my favorite burritos. The search continues. I did remember to take some pics, sorry they aren’t very focused!

I feel really awful for giving this place such a low review because we really like the owner. Tonight we stopped in for our regular Al Pastor burrito with everything. This place has become a hit or miss. I swear I should. leave if I see two ladies working. I asked for everything on my burrito which I didn’t receive. Dang it, I was searching for my meat within all the rice. So yeah… I just paid $ 9 for an all rice burrito. Great

Back in 2006, I was visiting a friend in SLO. He took me here. For years, I have not returned to SLO because he graduated, but for years… the enchiladas I had was still on my mind. No other Mexican restaurant could ever compare. Yeah, it’s that good. For years, I’ve been craving to return and have their food once more. The next opportunity I had, I stopped at the other one, which was the wrong one. So the next visit in SLO, I got the right one. THISONE!!! So I pass by SLO very often now that I have a girlfriend in the Malibu Area and I live in SF Area. I take 101 instead of the 5 just to stop here and have lunch here. THAT is how good they are. Their Enchilada lengua is the best I’ve ever had because they don’t separate the cheese and meat like other places. They mix it and have it melt on the meat. Also, they use damn good cheese. Their Taco Tuesdays are the best deals! I like to have one of each tacos and then throw in a full priced fish taco! It’s heaven and always my stop when I drive up and down the beautiful California Coast.

Our family went in at about 10:00pm on a Saturday night. We ordered Mediteranean tacos. They were freshly prepared and very tasty. While we were waiting for our dinner, Noah, the owner showed us the patio and all of its plants. It is very pretty and artistic. Outside dining has great atmosphere. He has done a fantastic job. During dinner he brought out a favorite of his, lingua tacos and some homemade chipotle sauce. It was fun to be offered something I wouldn’t normally order. Overall a friendly fun visit.

The prices are great and the selection is greater(and unique). I got a shrimp plate that didn’t really quite have the quantity I expected, but it was filling. Probably isn’t the best Mexican food you’ll find, but nothing to complain about.

The Cowboy burrito has stolen my heart. The restaurant wasn’t busy when we went in at 10:30 pm on a Monday so the owner, Noah, spent some time chatting with us. He even cut up a mole tamale for us to try… ps AMAZING! This restaurant may look like nothing when you pull up but it is gem in an otherwise chain food town. When I went to post about the restaurant I saw some negative reviews about the slow service. Everything they made we watched the cook cut up and prepare fresh. Keep in mind this is not a fast food Mexican joint. It’s authentic and worth the wait.

Definitely not the greatest Mexican food in SLO. I came once last year and the quality has fallen quite sharply since. I forget what exactly we ordered but it was some sort of meat nachos. Granted, it was pretty late but the cook was pretty unfriendly. He forgot to put meat on our nachos so we brought it up when we saw our barebones nachos. He insisted that we ordered the regular nachos even though on our receipt it said that we had paid for the meat nachos. He threw on some meat like he was doing us a favor but my friends and I were pretty over it and were just annoyed of his attitude. The cherry on top were that the chips were stale and everything was just average or worse. I don’t think I’d ever come back to Chilie Peppers. There are plenty of other options for late night Mexican food so I don’t really see what the point of coming here is.

It’s fine, not the best Mexican food ever. I have been here one to many times only because my white friends claim it’s the best Mexican food in SLO. Burritos are pretty good, but everything is just thrown together without cooking it fresh to begin with. The food items may have been sitting there for too long, so, it’s not really fresh to order. The nachos are good, especially the vegetarian nachos, but again, nothing exciting from the chips or veges or meat. I only come here when my friends are craving burritos. I do not come here on my own because I prefer Taco De Mexico instead. You pay a little more, but the food tastes better. My friends come to Chilie Peppers because you get quantity. I believe it’s the same size as any other place. Service is fine, no problem there. When I used to go there, they would give a 10% discount on Cal Poly students. Not sure if they still do that. If you like quantity for a pretty good price, come here. Else for quality, I would recommend Taco de Mexico. No surprises here, just your typically Mexican food. Overall: Good food, good price, good service

Ordered chile verde pork burrito… No cheese, no sour cream, no lettuce… Just traditional style… They hand me a falling apart burrito with very little pork… With lettuce, and soggy from sour cream… And riddled with cheddar cheese… Geez! WT to screw up something simple!!!

I go here regularly, usually midweek. Anytime the white people are cooking, don’t eat there! They just don’t know how to put the food together and it isn’t that great. If the friendly Mexican ladies are there the food is significantly tastier! The cashiers are fine, but if your going to have a long conversation with the staff this isn’t the place. They are always very polite and quick. Prices are good for what is served and the menu is large! I usually get tortas and burritos.

Hmmm… kind of straddling between and 2 and 3 on this one. The food, fortunately, was the best part of my experience. Came on a Friday at noon, during a small lunch rush. They have a very big, kind of overwhelming menu, so I decided on a 2-taco Combo(Combo #2) for $ 6.99. I chose chicken out of chicken, beef, and pork. The plate came with beans, rice, chips, and a bottomless soda. All in all, not a bad deal. The kitchen didn’t have any sizzling sounds that you’d hear from a hot grill, but I did see bagged tortillas/rolls and a microwave. It’s not the most clean or neat restaurant, but offers ample seating both in– and outdoors. There’s a TV, but it wasn’t on and the restaurant was awkwardly silent. Some music or futbol would have gone a long way. I appreciated the fountain horchata, rice, and beans. The house tomatillo salsa was also delicious, and had good heat to it. The tacos, however, weren’t really my style. The cheese was lumped together and cold, and had shredded lettuce topping with it sort of tasted like a salad. Might be great for someone else, but not really my bag. For tacos, I recommend Cinco de Mayo up the street. Cheaper, more authentically prepared, and delicious. I’m glad I tried Chilie Peppers, but I don’t think I’ll return to this location anytime soon. Their burritos looked pretty large, though, and their cheese enchilada was tasty, if you’re looking for something to try.

I might be a little biased because this is the neighborhood taqueria that I’ve been coming to since I was a kid. The sopes are delicious, staff is always friendly. Burritos are superb and ginormous. Good and cheap.
