Hidden Gem in SLO! Tucked away in a cinderblock industrial neighborhood is Sue’s Sandos, aka Aloha Café. Kathy, the owner, really cares about her customers and offers daily lunch specials. My favorite are build-your-own Taco Tuesdays starting with tasty carnitas, chile verde and chicken mole. Fresh, great ingredients and salsas, que bueno! On Friday’s, the tritip and chicken sandwiches(and fish ‘n’ chips) are great and there’s usually free live music 12−1pm. If you play, bring your instrument and jam! Very reasonable. Very laid-back… share a table on the patio and make some new friends! Or get your goodies to go. Worth finding! You can also come in and find microwavable items including breakfast burritos, coffee and drinks.

I used to love this place as well and only because of the philly cheesesteaks on wednesdays. Order one with double meat, extra veggies, and extra sauce and I’ll be KO’ed for the rest of the day. It was seriously that good, BUT the quality has gone down over the years and I can think of better things to do on wednesdays between 11 and 2. Worth a try if it’ll be your first time.

i used to love this place and would go religiously on wednesdays. they’ve got a daily rotating menu and wednesday is philly cheesesteak day. if you’ve never gone, stop by… chances are you’ll dig it. i’ve seen them fall from glory, so i don’t go back as often, but it’s probably still the best philly we have in SLO. if you go in the back, they’ve got some dirt cheap sandwiches and burritos. you might need someone to take you here, cuz it’s not easy to find. go down broad, left on capitolio, left at the first street, right at the next street… go all the way down and park. if you see benches, you’re there.
