This place isn’t all that bad for its tier. It was the only place that opened late night. The food from the grill is pretty decent! other stuff may be a bit over priced and not so yummy, but it isn’t horrible.

Overpriced. Terrible food. Bad service. One of the only places to use a campus dining meal. I went here almost every day because it was either this or metro, and both of these places are the worst. I did enjoy getting breakfast burritos here late at night, but they always ended up making me sick.

VGs is part of a large corporation that is built off of a money making business model. They therefore chose the cheapest food to serve in their dining hall. Most managers are insensitive to student needs partly due to the disconnection of company to student. If cal poly wants to create intelligent human beings I would think they would invest more in what they offer their students to live off of and fuel themselves on. There is no excuse for bad food when the school has a plethora of organic fresh food grown right on campus.

VG’S is the worst of the worst. I can’t believe Cal Poly makes their students live off this trash.

My late-night burrito and service was far better last night than I recalled from last year. I was pleasantly surprised! Good option for the late-night bite. Glad I returned!

Worst campus food ever. Have not come back but once since freshmen year, and that was a mistake. Rumors of food poisoning are quite frequent. Avoid VG Café at all costs, unless you are a freshman at Cal Poly and want absolute convenience.

The only reason I’d give this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because they are open late at night(2am on wkdys). I’ve had a myriad of problems with this restaurant and though it is student-run, it shouldn’t mean poorly managed. A couple of ongoing issues with the restaurant: the ever-decreasing portions of my deli sandwich or breakfast burrito. And maybe I just get a bad server, but when I talk to my friends they complain of the same issue. The pricing for them does not drop, but the portions sure do. Another issue would be the pricing. I think everyone that dines here can agree that everything on the menu is overpriced. Especially the ratio of volume to price of what you get here. For example, a cantaloupe at Von’s would cost me under $ 3 but at VG’s a small fruit *cup* of cantaloupe is the same price! I understand the factors of transportation and labor, but still, $ 3 a cup of fruit is beyond traditional pricing. Do my meals at VG exceed the allotted meal credit and dip into my plu$ dollars? Most often than none. Stick with Metro 19? You bet!
