Got into town late and this was right next to our hotel. VERY good! I got the Not Your Mother’s Grilled Cheese and it was excellent. Husband had the Pork Belly Nachos, also excellent. Very large portions so we snacked on it the next day too.

This place is great. Food and Beer are very good. I prefer this place when I set up group meetings. The staff is always friendly The beer and food is always good. I love consistency all the way around. One of my main stops going through SLO.

The food was tasty! I had the carnitas tacos and loved them! I was able to purchase a full bottle of wine and share with my friend. The wedding party accidentally booked the wrong night, however, they jumped right on it and were able to get us taken care of anyways! I recommend this for small or large crowds! Kid friendly!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express across the street so it was an easy decision to eat here. They had live music and loud, drunk ass patrons. Our server let us know that he was just seated a bunch of tables at the same time and I think that was to prepare us for a need for patience. But it was fine, you could see they were busy and different people made sure we were okay. Drinks were great. Food was okay. It was good for the convenience of being across the street. Pass on the calamari!

Good enough staff, the waitresses don’t come by a ton but enough to keep your waters full and a cocktail in your hand. I’ve ordered the chicken Cobb twice in a row and enjoyed it thoroughly. Tonight the waitress forgot I ordered a different dressing than it normally came with and sent it back right away to be re-made. I appreciated her lack of attitude about it. Being in a group of 8 people, they got all of our orders right(mostly, except mine with the salad dressing), separated our 3 checks correctly even though the parties were separated in seats, and again… Our drinks were always full… So I look forward to visiting again.

One of those rare restaurants in the USA where you’re not rushed. After finishing our dinner we were told to hang in there and enjoy the live music! That only is worth five stars in my book. Having said that the food is excellent. The spicy wings are spicy indeed, but nonetheless very tasty. The four of us ordered burgers and fish and chips, all very well prepared and the portions are a good size, I.e. Not to huge as so often in the USA. Do leave some room for dessert. Only one option but why choose if you can get heaven in a glass bowl. The best browny I’ve ever had combined with ice, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Finally the waiters; they are more than attentive and make you feel very welcome. Jordan our waiter was a great guy who made our evening memorable. If you’re in San Louis Obispo do drop in here!!!

I’m from Santa Barbara and was in SLO on a 3 day business trip and stopped at Pappy’s for dinner with 2 of my Co workers. The waitress was quick and friendly, and our food was fast too. There was an issue with the food though. My Co worker and I ordered the same burger, but cooked differently, and our food was switched by mistake. We just ended up switching plates and she poured my side of bbq sauce on her burger and I was stuck with bbq sauce on mine when I originally asked for it on the side. When the waitress came to check on us, I mentioned what had happened but that it was ok. She offered to correct the mistake but we assured her it was ok. A few minutes later the manager came over to our table and apologized for the mistake and also offered to fix the mistake and we told him we were ok. He gave us a 15% discount on our food, and a coupon for another 20% off our next visit. I know I will definitely be going back to Pappy’s whenever I’m in town. I gave it 5 stars because it’s not about the mistake, it’s about how they handled it.

As planned, went back last weekend as I was in SLO and a blocks walk away. I feel a correction is due on my part regarding first review, and waitress apparel. What I saw on Saturday night, is not what I remembered from first visit. Uniforms are not as skanky as I had previously described. Still unnecessary, but would have no problem eating here with my daughter. The beer was cold and great as it should be in a Irish pub. The food was ok. I had a mediocre Cottage Pie, and the girl just had a brightly colored and fresh salad with a side of onion strings. I sprinkled my Cottage Pie with onion strings, and it really gave it new life and texture. Way better. The portions were large, and service great. Loved the outdoor fire side seating. We’ll be back for sure

Went to watch the NHL Playoffs. Was greeted at the door by what seemed to be a manager and he said«I can’t seat you with that hat on». I was wearing my Anaheim Ducks hat, he said he was a Sharks fan, HA. It was all fun and games and he sat us right next to a giant TV so we could watch Game 7 of Rangers/Lightning, what a gent. The beer was great and the wings were even better. We ordered the Frank’s spicy and boy were they spicy, but that’s what a wing should be. The wait staff was excellent, they didn’t bother us excessively and they were around and alert when we needed something. Signing off, Bretzlaf

This is the usual pub kinda spot. The music is live, so I love love love that…, but the music style changes all the time. The staff was super helpful with getting us in last min. The people are friendly and the staff is too. The steak wedge was amazing but the steak was a bit fatty for my taste :(. Wine was good and the place was nice and clean. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back, but wouldn’t complain if we did.

3-stars because there are not many options for vegetarians, but otherwise would be 4-stars for taste and service. The the fries that come with most of the meals are fantastic! Very crispy and addictive — the garlic fries are even better. The regular mac n’ cheese comes in a skillet with more melted cheese than pasta. A very hearty and delicious dish, a half order was more than enough for me and was the cheapest thing on the menu — $ 10. Their lobster mac n’ cheese that I have tried in the past is always fantastic and large enough to share at $ 20. I find their prices to be a bit steep for a pub, $ 12.50−20 from appetizers to salads, burgers, sandwiches, but they have industry night on Mondays where restaurant and winery employees get 25% off food AND drinks. They have an extensive full bar, «Dew and a Brew» specials and happy hour. Never had to wait for a table here no matter how large the party or what night of the week it was.

Ate here for the first time today. They do not have a gluten free menu(I have celiac Disease) however, the server went to great lengths to make sure everything I ordered was safe. She was great !!! Thank you.

Great bar and great food. It sounds like they have recently pivoted a bit towards being a «gastropub» and in my professional opinion they have succeeded. Lots of TVs in the back bar but not a focus for the entire place. Good outdoor space. I am a big fan!

It is a small quaint Irish Style bar. The food is amazing. It’s a great place just to meet up and hang out with friends. You can be quiet Or as loud as you like. There is a very nice outside patio area which also has a fire pit so when it’s cold you can keep warm. Service is a little slow but that’s not a complaint. Today is a very slow night here but it is Wednesday. Would I return. Hmmm that’s a definite YES. Intact I may just do that tomorrow. Did I say the food is all home made and you will see that when you come visit this place.

Absolutely love this place. I’ve been here multiple times and have always had such a wonderful experience. I have tried their fried mac and cheese, lobster mac and cheese, pot pie, farmstand BLT+A sandwich, raw oysters, Rockefeller oysters, calamari, pub nachos, jalapeño burger, Kobe burger, and most of their beers on tap. And honestly, I have been beyond satisfied with all of it. My favorite would have to be the Rockefeller oyster appetizer and the lobster mac and cheese. The Rockefeller oysters were fresh and had plenty of flavor. It was a great appetizer to start out with. Their fried mac and cheese is absolutely delicious but the lobster mac and cheese is even better. I have tried mac and cheese dishes from multiple restaurants in downtown SLO but their lobster mac and cheese is probably one of the best in town. The lobster mac and cheese is a little pricey; however, they add plenty of lobster in the dish and the dish is very filling(worth every penny). I have always had great service here. All the waitresses are attentive and welcoming. The bartenders are also very helpful and knowledgable about the beers and drinks available. I usually eat dinner a little early(430−5pm) so there isn’t much of a wait. However, the wait can get long during peak lunch and dinner hours as well as on the days that big games are on tv. Parking can also get a little difficult but you can always park on the street or down the street in another lot. There is seating indoors(tables and bar seating) as well as outdoors(tables and around a fire). Additionally, there is a loft upstairs that is great for group settings with tables, chairs, and couches. 5 stars for overall amazingness(service, food, drinks, environment, overall experience).

Pappy’s in SLO has taken a dive over the last 2 months. The customer service has absolutely plummeted. I’m sure the food is still good, but we haven’t been able to order food either time. The problem? The hostesses need some training. We sat for a while with no fewer than 3 girls BSing at the host stand. No server touches, no water, nothing. I can only watch that for so long, and since our last visit went poorly — my patience ran out. We left. Get it together, Pappys. You used to be one of our favorites.

Great place that was directly across the street from our hotel. Walking distance BONUS! There was a large party with tons of screaming kids running around so we did what we always do in this situation– we went to the bar. Great service, and on top of that, great entertainment as well. There was a guy playing guitar and singing Jimmy Buffet type of music. I didn’t catch his name(sorry dude), but I get the impression that he is a regular. My husband had a sandwich, and I had a Cobb salad. Food was OK, but it’s hard to mess up a salad. We enjoyed our meal, had a few drinks, and escaped just before Karaōke was to begin.
