Just to add more information– The rates for the gym raised incredibly. They are now $ 42/month with a $ 50 signing fee. Very odd considering it is the Y but they do offer some fun bonuses. But again, it is the Y. For that price range you have tons of gym options and they place themselves in competition with the rest of the gyms in the county.

*If you would like to try the YMCA before joining, there is a 2-week complimentary guest pass available online. Simply print the pass and bring it in to the front desk* The YMCA Membership includes access to the Sinsheimer pool and the Fitness Center both located on Southwood Drive. There is a room dedicated to weights and then cardio equipment throughout a few other areas. There aren’t a lot of each kind of machine and some of the equipment seems somewhat aged, but this is what I’d expect at the typical YMCA. There’s a kids gym upstairs, but I think you have to pay for your kids to go there while you workout. — — — — — — — — — — — — Hours of Operation: Monday-Thursday 6:00 am — 9:00 pm Friday 6:00 am — 8:00 pm Saturday 8:00 am — 7:00 pm Sunday 11:00 am — 5:00 pm Sinsheimer Pool Hours: Lap Swim Hours: Monday — Friday = 6:00 am to 8:00 am, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday: 6:30 am to 8:00 am, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm Sunday: 11:30 to 1:30 pm — — — — — — — — — — — — (Adult) Membership Fees $ 0 Enrollment, $ 47 Monthly Fee for the 6-month trial period $ 85 Enrollment, $ 210 Semi-annual Fee after the trial period — — — — — — — — — — — — The staff is friendly and helpful. It’s kind of expensive, but it’s really close to my house. I’m sure that the Cal Poly gym is cheaper if you don’t mind working out with tons of college kids.

For me, this is as good as it gets. Everyone is Ga-Ga over Kennedy, but I’ve tried it there. For $ 20 more a month I can go to a not THAT impressive gym plus it’s such an impressional environment. The Y is simple, but focused on fitness. The membership fees are pretty cheap… even for a college student like me. I love their no-waiting window aerobic area and relatively diverse weight room. The staff is super nice. They greet me every time I scan my card and generally just stay out of my hair otherwise. Although I know if I need them for anything… they’re right there and happy to help. Overall the Y is where it’s at… No wait, great staff, and cheap membership. If you want to honestly get fit without paying for all the unnecessary gimmicks the SLOYMCA is where it’s at.
