This place has been around for years. I’ve been coming here ever since I was probably 5 years old. I’ve only gone to the lunch buffet here which is definitely a highlight of this restaurant. It’s the best Indian buffet I’ve had, overall the best Indian food I’ve had. I’m updating my review because I came here for lunch with my dad and they had a lot of new choices in the buffet. It’s always been the same for years which all was still delicious; but the new items they added were great! I’ve never tried them before and they were excellent. Lots of great choices to choose from everything has such great flavor. The tomato soup is incredible, it taste different than normal tomato soup and I have to say I actually prefer it. It has a super delicious flavor to it. The garlic naan is now in the buffet as well, which is cool too. Easy access and you don’t have to wait for them to make it, which usually took 10 – 15 minutes. That’s definitely a plus but the negative about having it sitting out at the buffet was it was not fresh, it was very chewy. After all the years I’ve been here it was the worst naan I’ve eaten here. It’s a great idea having the naan at the buffet but they need to figure out how to keep it fresh and not get chewy while it sits out. The service could use some work, took 20 minutes for my dad to get his mango lassi and my drink was empty for a while as well. Overall the food is excellent and my dad and I always come here for lunch very often.

I really used to love this place… they have great food. Even if it is a bit overpriced — BUT we walked in for the lunch buffet and were seated by a waitress that looked fairly new. We arrived 30 minutes prior to the lunch buffet closing and I made sure that was OK before we sat down. She said yes and we began eating. We heard from the kitchen the manager/boss/cook scolding her about letting us In and that she should have turned us away. It was terribly awkward… The owner came out maybe 10 minutes after and said she made a mistake but told us to stay and let him know if we needed anything. But he was clearly annoyed and his employees I guess started eating the lunch from the buffet and sat down across from us. Including out own waitress who never bothered to check on us or refill water. i mean I didn’t want to interrupt THEIR lunch I guess. Smh. We wanted to leave right away but we’re just so taken aback by the whole experience. We ate as quickly as possible to finish what we had already started before the exchange took place. As we quickly gathered our things they began turning off the lights and removing the food which was cold anyways. I should have never had to pay for that. And it was so awkward I even regrettably tipped them because I felt bad for being there. Idk but I will make sure not to come Again. Just to reiterate we came during buffet hours and left at the close of the buffet hours. If they don’t intend to serve people all through the lunch hour they have posted they shouldn’t advertise those hours. And what a poor business decision. They lost my business forever. Customer service is KEY. It’s too bad they don’t know that.

Very disappointed. My son and his wife brought us here to celebrate the New Year. We arrived early and were seated promptly. We had small children with us so we quickly ordered their favorite dishes. We ordered three entrees, naan, and roti. It took a very long time for our meals to be served. We were given two very small bowls of rice for the seven of us to share. We asked for more rice. We never received it. The kids went into melt down and we had to leave. Is there some huge rice shortage I’m not aware exists? Do NOT go into the restrooms. They are DISGUSTING! A dirty diaper plugging the floor drain and a bucket under the sink to catch the water when you wash your hands. I have no idea why my son likes this place.

What can I say… not much. But I’ll start with, I have worked in the restaurant business(yes actual good quality places in coastal North County SD) for 14+ years. So this review is a few days late, but sitting late night watching a program about local SD restaurants made me remember how many better places there are. My wife was SOOOOO excited to try India Princess. I’ll keep this short but concise because I respect your time, they do not. First, sat right away, good thing! 15 minutes before anyone came to the table, bad thing. Food took 25 minutes(for 1 app and 2 entrees served at the same time) good thing on a busy night… but we were 1 of 3 tables occupied in the place, bad thing. Food tasted great, good thing! Had a Groupon and were told«Groupon owes us $ 3,500 so we aren’t taking these anymore, please pay your full bill». BADTHING… especially when we were told this when the check was put on the table!!! Yet you are still letting Groupon sell your deal on their website!!! You can call them and tell them to cancel your package and take your deal away, you scammers! What the heck. I have never once in all of my years in the business even heard of a place doing this. STAYAWAY. If you want more info please send me a contact request and I would be happy to tell you more. Ridiculous! Learn how to run your business and stop«gaming» people so you get free advertising on Groupon at the price of screwing over your possible patrons. [mic drop]

Absolutely amazing food, my first experience with Indian food. I love curry but have never had this before. Dishes ranging from beef to shrimp and everything in between. The food a little while to cook but the reason being, they make to order. Fresh flat bread. Last but not least their beer and wine selection are awesome! And the service was right on!

Service was horrible and the food was good but the dinner prices are waaaayyy too high. I can only guess that this places really thrives off their lunch buffet. Walked in and waiter sat us down but we got no menu ??? My husband had to grab on off the hostess desk. He never refilled our water and we sat there for 35 min before we saw him come out again with our food. I’m pretty sure he was the chef also :/Overall the food was good but they made us share a little tiny bowl off rice. I’m pretty sure we won’t be back :(

Unfortunately love this place but service is terrible! We called a week in advance to book for thanksgiving day they said no problem no reservation needed(always a little worrying) then on thanksgiving day called to double check that there was still a place for the evening and I was abruptly interrupted and told he would call me back if they were keeping it open or not!!!(What the!!!) and no call back after an hour I called them and he simply said no we closing Stay back from these people

Incredibly long wait. Took 40+ minutes from the time we ordered for the food to arrive at our table. Water was not refilled despite waiters walking by multiple times to refill water at the booth behind us. Think it is because we came here with a groupon. They asked as soon as we sat down if we had a groupon. The food itself was decent, but the check came out wrong. We were overcharged for the Madras Lamb Curry. All this on a night they weren’t that busy.

Great food. If you care about authentic spices freshly ground to make your curry flavors this is the place for you. I have now become friends with the chef and his wife who run the place and they are simple folks who just want to make sure the patrons enjoy their meal. If you aren’t crazy about spicy food tell them to tone down according to your preference or you’ll be reaching out for a cold glass of water!!! But that’s how that particular dish would’ve supposed to have been. Try this place and if you love indian food you won’t be disappointed. Tip– try the chef specials and the bhel

I was surprised when I walked into The new and revamped India princess and blown away with the food quantity and quality. The chef fione was very hospitable and his style of cooking impressed all of us. Would recommend all to try the seek kebab and the madras chicken curry. Appetizers Bhel and paneer pakoda was finger licking.

I was really surprised. People told me how wonderful this Place is the food is the delicious. Nothing could be further from the truth. The food was substandard really not good very very basic ugly food not served by sweet and kind people. I have dined at many wonderful Indian restaurants but I must say in all honesty this was the absolute worst not recommended don’t waste your money and please just don’t go there. There are so many better Indian restaurants in San Diego check them out

So we’ve eaten dinner here at the restaurant and ordered take out just last night and me and hubby still agree this place is awesome. The food is delicious and is authentic as you can get. Having moved from the East coast we had tons of Indian restaurants to select from. Moving out here proved more challenging to find that one authentic spot but this place delivers compared to other Indian restaurants we’ve tried in the area since moving here. As i recall, dining at the restaurant was a great experience. We were seated right away and the staff was very attentive in filling up our waters. We never had a glass of water half empty. I remember ordering goat, beef and chicken dishes but cant remember specifically which ones… but doesn’t matter… they were all good. Ordering take out last night was just as good as dining in. For main dishes we ordered the lamb korna, chicken Tikka masala, and their okra. We’ve had better okra but ehhh, who cares since it was still yum.

I have visited this place several times and never ones was disappointed. Service is amazing. My drink was always filled, the portions of the food is generous and certainly enough to split in two. People there are super nice the food is amazing. My favorite dish is tikka masala. I’ve had it at different places but this place makes it the absolute best. The seasoning is very rich and you just come back for more. I would highly recommend this place to others.

This is one of my favorite Indian food restaurant to eat at. The food is full of flavor! Now talk about the portions, the portions is absolutely great. You get way more then what you pay for. The service wasn’t that great at the beginning but after a few minutes there service improved. They would always refill our drinks and we never had to ask them for a refill and they would constantly check up on us. Made you feel like you were at your grandmas house and grandma would always check up on you so she can stuff you with more food! Out of all the Indian restaurants I have eaten at this is one of the greatest

My husband took me here for my birthday because I was craving Indian food. We’ve only had Indian food a couple of times and this was our first time at this restaurant. Wow, I am so glad we came! We ordered the Chicken Lollipops for the appetizer. OMG! They came out hot and cooked to perfection. So yummy! We also tried the Mulligatawny Chicken Soup which was also fantastic! Our taste buds were waking up from these delicious appetizers. We were ready for our main entrees now! I had the Goan Beef Curry and my husband chose the Chicken Jalfarezee. Let me tell you, you can’t go wrong with these dishes! The beef was tender. The chicken practically melted in our mouths! All the spices and herbs they used all mixed together created such wonderful, tasty dishes! The service was great too. Our glasses of water were always full and the waiters were attentive. They were informative and gave suggestions since we weren’t too familiar with Indian food. The food came out hot and fresh right to your table. Simply deliciousness all around. We will definitely come here again!

I hate to give a bad review, but I have to say that seeing a black hair on my plate as I dished from the buffet just as I was putting down a spoonful of food next to all the other spoonfuls was not pleasant. I thought, was that a hair I just saw at the last second as I poured that last item next to the saag aloo? When I got to my seat, I pulled it back and yes, there WAS a hair there. I pulled it out and called the waiter over. He apologized profusely and said he’d tell the chef.(chef is the owner) Then I found another black hair IN my iced tea, after I’d already drank about a quarter of it! How can that happen? I told him again. He apologized again and several times when he brought the check. And did they comp anything? NO! On top of that, the last time we were there, which we enjoyed, I told them they are not allowed to serve water unless people request it. We never drink tap water so we don’t ask for it, but they automatically put down 2 glasses of water for us. Again, they did the same thing, so I told the waiter again that it is against the law to serve water unless requested. I said, not only did you waste the water in these 2 glasses we didn’t drink, but now you have to waste more water to wash and rinse them. I doubt they’ll ever get it. The food is usually good, but the buffet this time was very overcooked and some things looked like they’d been sitting a long time. We won’t be returning. Too bad… we love Indian food, and buffets give you a chance to try lots of things.

The service here is fantastic, they are very observant! Our drinks were filled every time they got low. The food was served quickly! They are awesome. We went on a Friday night and it was pretty quiet. Food was good, will be returning for my Indian food cravings.
