LOVETHISPLACE! I have had this bookmarked forever and finally got to try! Sooo good. Everything from the Bacon, Avo cheeseburger, ranch dressing, fries, and onion rings. Their onion rings were my favorite. Thin crunchy breading and thinner onions, which I prefer. Little things like ranch for dipping sauce can make or break the meal. And this ranch is awesome! I will def have to come back asap to try other yummy options. The décor inside is pretty neat as well. So much to look at while you wait for your food. They even have a drive thru!!!

35 minutes and counting. … 4 cars in the drive thru on a Sunday and haven’t even ordered yet. I will review once I try the food but seriously somebody needs to the owners to staff better! It’s now been 14 minutes since I ordered and I am still waiting for my food and haven’t made it to pay. Wow this is the slowest service ever!!!

First time here(I don’t know why it’s so close to the house) — and it doesn’t disappoint! My siblings and I stopped in here after the beach for a casual dinner and the food was fast, the staff was really nice, and the dining area is big enough so you’ll always have a seat. I got the Turkey & Avo sandwich while the kids got the chicken strips & hot dog on the kids meal. Let’s just say we have full stomachs! Will definitely stop in here again.

I am absolutely in love with this place. I love that it has a drive through but also pleasant and spacious eating inside. Everything on the menu is wonderful, you can’t go wrong with any decision. They offer both healthy and less healthy options from salads to burgers to wraps to breakfast plates etc. It goes on and on, guaranteed something for everyone. The fries are out of this world! I just wish there was one closer to me, but I will go out of my way to stop here because there is nothing like it in Carlsbad.

This place is amazing for their prices! $ 2 for a cheeseburger?! You could compare this place to in n out but cheaper and with more variety. The ambiance is really cool. They have a bunch of posters of old movies and coins and bills from everywhere hence the name«money pit.» I recommend this place if you don’t want to spend a lot of money for really good food! It’s a little loud though, so not recommended if you’re trying to have a nice quiet meal.

I admit it. I judged a book by it’s cover, and in doing so I nearly missed out on the fantastic food that the Money Pit Drive Thru has to offer. Serves me right. Had the burger protein style and I was highly impressed. It was priced great AND tasted like fresh quality food. I’m pretty sure they cook to order, so it takes a tad longer than say, McDonalds, but I’m so very okay with that because what they hand you is something like a miracle from a drive thru burger joint. It’s like In-n-out style(cardboard box to eat out of, etc.) but with food that actually tastes good. I plan on coming back again and again.

Bacon avocado burger is really good! My only complaint is that the patty is really thin, the lettuce made up most of the burger lol. Fries were fresh and seasoned well.

I’m not big on fast food… I’m not sure if that’s what I’d call this exactly but I’m going for it! It’s actually a lot better than I originally thought it was going to be. Big portions and made to order. Definitely worth going a little out of your way to try this place. Really cool ambiance inside. The décor has SOMUCH attention to detail that you literally see something you didn’t notice before every time you go in!

Kid at the window was sweet, got my order perfect and it was fast. We always get the chicken salad and fried mushrooms and as usual, awesome. We probably go twice a year since it opened, thank God this place is far from my house or I’d be super super fat

Eye catching title. Really quirky décor. Fast casual/diner menu at affordable prices. The latter is what drew me to the Money Pit when looking for a place to grab quick, cheap bite in the area. Going off the reviews, I looked to try the Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink. Every now and then I’ll hold the pickles, and elected to do so that day. Ordering was fine, as was the price(a steal, really), but once I sat down and realized order after order came to all the customers behind me in line, I had to check with the counter. There it was, stuck in first at the top corner of the order screen. A few minutes later, my food finally came out, except the pickles appeared as well. Even after I asked about my order and heard«hey, is the Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger without pickles ready» being said back towards the kitchen, it still came out wrong. Regardless, I don’t have anything against pickles and ate them anyway, but those few service errors overshadowed the good value of a solid burger and meal at this place.

Over time I’ve given them more chances and tried out other items on their menu. I have been pleasantly surprised! So far I’ve ordered the chili cheese fries, Kids chicken tenders meal, grilled ham and cheese, chicken tenders wrap, chicken breast salad, vanilla milkshake. I have LOVED every single one except for the chili was a little spicy for me. But that’s a personal thing cause I’m a wimp. Try this place out! It’s no wonder the line is always busy

This place was once a bank, they have left the safe door as a decoration. They have movie posters and items dealing with money everywhere. Some tables have coins inside in a design, some have monopoly game board and some have money themed puzzles. Music is playing not to loud, the genera is from the 50−60s from what I can tell. There is plenty of seating inside and out. The parking lot is shared with other places. The is one drive way on the west side of the restaurant which I wouldn’t advice lowered cars going up. On the main street(south of restaurant) there are 2 drive ways that are low car friendly. The menu has lots of choices, so take your time on choosing what you want. The prices are very fair. I got a bacon avocado burger for ground $ 3.75 and made it a combo for $ 3 more. My girlfriend got a crispy fish sandwich for around $ 4.15 and made a combo for 3 dollars more. The food is awesome here. Best bang for the buck! If I’m in the area I’ll make this place one of my stops. I would recommend this place to my family and friends. I would recommend the bacon avocado burger or the junk yard dog.

The Money Pit is awesome! Such a cool and unique interior with reasonably priced food! Wifey and I have been here a few times now and we always really enjoy their sandwiches and burgers. I always order the turkey and avocado sandwich, and wifey normally gets a cheeseburger. Service has always been pretty good for us with no issues… we don’t live in the area so we always go inside to eat instead of actually using the drive-thru. I think the only downside to this place is that they could use bigger bathrooms, but aside from that, this place doesn’t disappoint!

Literally, not much has changed since my first review six years ago. Inside décor is the same, yet posters and such are faded a few shades lighter from the sun. The food is the same, in fact maybe better. Literally debated around the monopoly table we sat at if the cheeseburgers here were better than In-N-Outs. Even the fries were heatedly debated. — Try this place. Get a cheeseburger and fries(or zucchini fries). .

Wow, what a pleasant surprise The Money Pit is, who knew… The décor here is a bit odd with movie posters all over the place and various oddities inside of the tables etc. Nevertheless, the food here is pretty freaking good and the service is solid as well. Came here on a crowded Friday night and this place was pretty packed in both the drive thru and inside dining area. Had a 3×3 with some fries and some fried zucchini. Everything tastes great, was presented well and served promptly. I will definitely come back to try other items from their extremely broad menu. Pros– Taste Promptness Freshness Burgers Price Service Cons– Odd location Weird décor Long drive thru wait

Well I feel a little torn on this review only because I’ve only gone to Money Pit once and feel it would be a better review after revisiting. However maybe a few of the things will benefit those who are coming to try Money Pit. Was recommended by a couple of friends who frequent here often and said to me, «you’ve never been there and you live close by? What?! You gotta eat at Money Pit.» So one day the boyfriend and I were going to grab a bite to eat for dinner. Oddly though, we chose to eat here after not wanting to sit in rush hour traffic on 78 West to go to another diner a few miles away. On the outside the restaurant looks like a small bank and doesn’t look as inviting. However the inside is another story. It’s like stepping into a museum. All of the old movie posters, war posters, tables filled with money art(you’ll understand when you see them), license plates on the walls, and a cemented bank vault door in the middle of the restaurant. Decorations are brightly colored, there are tons of window seating, and a lot of leg room between tables. Boyfriend wanted to get one thing that was on his mind and they were onion rings, and try their patty melt… two things that are pretty hard to mess up. I ordered their fried mushrooms and a crispy fish burger. One order of onion rings is more than enough for two to share; the same goes for the fried mushrooms. They were both served with a side of ranch dipping. The batter and seasoning was really up to par and crunchy. They were salted enough that you don’t even need ranch to dip in and they can be eaten as is, and both onions and mushrooms tasted fresh. The patty melt was tasty although not number 1 in the boyfriend’s patty melt list. I had the crispy fish burger and it was… okay. I didn’t enjoy it much but ate it nonetheless. Half the burger are the veggies which make me feel that it’s somewhat healthy, the buns are lightly toasted which make for a good mouth feel, but the fish portion disappointed me a bit. They were two small fried fish sticks in my burger. I thought it would actually be a fish patty or even a small fish filet that was fried and put in a burger, but it wasn’t. The fish sticks were a bit dry on the inside and didn’t add much to the burger besides texture. I wouldn’t recommend getting the crispy fish burger/sandwich here. I do recommend getting the fried mushrooms if you like mushrooms, and the onion rings. Prices are budget-friendly, menu is expansive, service is speedy and great, and the ambiance is really cool. I’ll try Money Pit again and update my review if anything has changed.

Great meal at a great price! I dined here after so many years of just driving by, and never giving this place a shot. I was impressed with the 4 stars and amount of reviews so I finally decided to try it out. Upon entering it’s like a hidden gem, I would not expect this neat restaurant in North County! The interior has a fun, classic feel with all the movie posters, random signs, old school memorabilia inside, and fun tables. It felt like a blast from the past being there. This place was decently busy like many folks dining at the tables for a Monday night that I dropped by, but no wait while I was in line. When finally getting to the front there’s a huge menu which added some confusion to my mind on what I should order. The cashier was nice and took down the orders except made a boo-boo! A missing side item which I didn’t realize till the food came out(then I looked at my receipt opsie). This is why the 4 stars instead of 5. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which includes bacon and egg, I chose to have it on sourdough, and it automatically comes with tomato, lettuce, and mayo if you don’t tell them otherwise. My sibling ordered bacon avocado cheeseburger, which he definitely enjoyed. We both ate it up, although my original plan was only to eat half of my sandwich and save the rest, I couldn’t help it, it was that good that I finished it all! Overall, it was a great dinner besides the mistake which was I ordered the zucchini fries which I was excited to try based on it being a highlight of a lot of the reviews. The cashier probably got confused with my order of fries(because I was thinking out loud) and only did that although I flat out said I wanted zucchini fries, somehow he only inputted regular fries which I did also want, but what about the zucchini fries man? LOL. It’s okay it can be my excuse to return…

We stopped by here on the way back from San Diego yesterday. We ordered the following: Spicy Chicken sandwich 3 Chicken Strip combo with a large root beer. Total came to $ 11.00 for a lot of food. Pros: 1) Different kind of a chicken sandwich 2) Professional staff 3) Very inexpensive. Almost like In & Out prices, I felt with a whole lot of variety(+1) 4) Good packaging to eat the meal while driving. Cons: 1) We entered the drive through at 12:50PM and exited at 1:12PM. A lot of time for a drive thru restaurant(–1) We will definitely check it out again and try their other meats the next time we visit San Diego.
