I’ve gotten my hair cut by King a few times now; he’s very professional and I always leave with neater and more manageable hair.

I went to flow salon last week to get my hair dyed and it turned out a lot better than I would ever expected. I wanted something wild and King gave a suggestion of doing something with mix colors.
My hair turned out to be a mixture of purple red and blue which looks amazing. It has this watercolor space-​y type feeling. The top part of my hair is covered with purple which later fades into red and blue at the tips of my hair and underneath. The fades are very subtle.
I came in around 1pm and left around 5pm. It is a long process because you need to bleach first and then incorporate the new colors. King is very detail and designs your hair based on your face shape and your style. He puts a lot of effort into making you look good rather than just doing the hair itself. I like him very much and will definitely come back.

I’ve gotten my haircuts from King for the past year. I really like how he works with me on what style my hair should be in consideration of my face shape and hair type. I don’t live in San Mateo, but I’m willing to make the drive to come back as a regular customer anytime I need a trim or drastic change of length.

King cuts my hair and I think he has a great eye for what looks good for his clients. He changed my hairstyle several times and I loved the results.
He is a great guy to talk to. I always enjoy talking to him about travel, coffee, soccer. Today he was telling me how to travel to Alaska for free using points. Something interesting to think about.

I’ve been coming here for about a year now. This review is in regards to King, as I have not had my haircut done by the other stylist. He is knowledgable and very skilled in cutting both men’s and women’s hair. I’d highly recommend making an appointment with him.

I have been coming to King for haircut for about a year. King is very patience, friendly and professional.
For the first few times I was here, I mentioned how I would like to have a natural effortless wavy look on my bangs and the bottom of my hair to get more texture and volume. I also told him that I had bad experiences from perming my hair and never achieved the look I would like. At first, he showed me how to use a curling iron to get the look and educated me on what tool I should use. The last time I was there, he suggested me to perm my hair and he was confident to achieve the wave I was looking for. After coming here for haircut for a while, I let him go with the flow because I trust him. 90 mins later, I was so glad I did it. King made it happened for me!
King never rushes through appointment even though I run late some times. If you want great result and experience, you should give King shot.

I have been here for a few times now. King is very friendly and patience. I wanted to change my hairstyle a bit and he gave me a lot of advice. After he cut my hair, he took the time to let me know how I can style my hair.

This is the worst salon I have ever been. Poor stylist and customer service
I called to make an appointment for trimming my hair. I asked if I just do the front part how much it would cost. They came back saying no reservation needed and $ 10. I went in on a Saturday afternoon, requested to do so as I just called on the phone. They pulled a chair for me to sit. I mentioned that I did no wash my hair and asked if they offered such service for an extra fee. They said it would be another $ 25 for just washing my hair, so the total is $ 35 just like a regular women haircut. I couldn’t believe they are bundling up business like that. It’s quite often women just trim hair band. I have been to many other salons either they water spray the front part for free, or they charge mostly additional $ 10 for washing.
I told the stylist that I do not want to pay a full price as this is not a full service that I am requesting. He came to me directly and cut my front band. I asked if there will be water spray as my hair volume is messy and I didn’t wash it in the morning. Of cos they refused to do so.
My front band is really awkward and uneven. One part shorter than another. Part of my hair direction is not going to the right way because it was unevenly cut and I have to keep to a certain angle to not mess around it.
When I was getting ready to leave and wanting to pay, I was notified again they don’t take Credit card. I pointed the the sign and asked how come it’s not stated any where if it’s cash only. I tried to look for cash but I didnt carry enough so I was about to leave for an ATM, they came back to see saying that they can take CC just not preferred.
Overall very bad and inresponsible customer services. Their skill is poor and unsatisfied. Will not recommend to anyone.

I’m really surprised by all the raving reviews. That’s what led me to try Roy.
Made an appointment for a weekday evening, and got seated right away. Most of the haircut was pretty good.
I always get my hair thinned out, and this is where I almost started to cry. Roy took the thinning scissors, put it horizontally against my scalp, and cut. He did it again, and again, and again. And I was really confused at first because NO ONE ever thins hair out that way, and when I realized what he was doing, I was debating whether to say anything because I didn’t want to seem rude. And finally when I spoke up to STOP, it was already too late.
I now have tiny hairs (probably quarter to half inch) ALL over my head, and it will be a very miserable and long process for these hairs to grow out. I put my hair in a pony tail today, and there are all these short hairs that are sticking out.
Roy may be good for an ordinary haircut, but if you want your hair thinned out, he has no idea what he’s doing.

We had been going here for quite some times for my boyfriend’s haircut. Each time it got worse. Men hair grows too fast and we didn’t want to spend more than $ 40 to get his cut every 3 weeks so we chose this place…
First there was only one stylist cutting 3 different people’ hair at a time. So our twenty mins men hair cut became more than an hour. That didnt even count the time we were waiting to be seated while the appointment time was 20 minutes ago.
Everytime the stylist’s cut was a little bit different. It could be too short or too long, although we showed him the picture of his own cut the first time. Totally inconsistent. The last cut was so choppy I felt like I could do a better job. Thats why I only let my bf have his hair cut here not myself.
This place is boring, with boring instrumental music and the guy doesn’t talk. At all. He looks bored himself. I almost felt asleep on the couch waiting for my bf each time.
We never came back after the 3^rd times (yup we were very patient customers)

I freaking love this place! Roy has been my favorite since, I don’t know… Probably 2 years or more! He has taken care of my different and weird hair colors! He always makes me look pretty! He know what he’s doing and it’s amazing.

got my hair dyed here yesterday and it was an awesome experience. King is friendly, professional and just awesomely fantastic. It was my first time bleaching my hair and the result turns out better than i expected. It’s actually so great that my hair is still smooth after the bleach and color.
Highly recommend this place and King. I will definitely go back for future haircuts and styling.

This is the second time I’ve been here. I live in SF and my friend brought me here last time for a haircut. I loved it so much that I don’t mind traveling all the way to San Mateo from then on.
The first time I came here I wanted a change for my boring long straight hair that I’ve kept for many years. King (the hairstylist) gave useful recommendation. He cut my hair to mid length and it definitely match my face shape a lot better than before.
As I’ve kept my lank hair for so long, I’ve always wanted a hairstyle that shows more volume. It is always windy in SF so this time I came here for perm and wanted to archive a messy look with more volume. I didn’t even show King any pictures but just tell him what I wanna archive. I let him kinda go with it. I trusted him and he did not disappoint me at all! I can’t be more satisfied for the hairstyle I have right now.

Wow this place is hard to get an appointment at!
I tried to go to this place 3 times, and 3 times they told me over the phone they’re all booked out. It’s crazy. The whole place is Huge, and they only 1 guy at the place the whole time, who for some reason always seems to look bored out of his mind
In any case, I finally had a chance to visit, and Man, they know how to cut asian hair. They basically got my hair really shredded without me explicitly asking them to, which I almost always have to at other places. The price is also pretty cheap too. $ 25 for a cut and wash. The places down the street charges $ 40+.
Also, the décor inside is actually pretty nice. Hip, modern, but also comfortable.
Overall, I would definitely come back again. This is my main haircut spot now

Roy Rocks! He did a great job on my hair color and blow dry. I LOVE when your hair stylist doesn’t really chat with you, because I wanna just CHILL. And he is so chill, very nice but doesn’t do that draining small chit chat haha.
