I wish I had looked this place up before going as it seems they have a lot of bad reviews. My girlfriend and I had a tough week and wanted a massage. We moved to San Mateo a few months ago from San Jose. Happy Foot on Saratoga is by far worth the drive!!! My girlfriend wanted more of a foot massage and I wanted back, neck and shoulders. She got the foot massage for $ 25 and I got the«Super Combo» for $ 35. We have booths right next to each other so I could hear and kinda see what was going on over in her booth. I got a guy that smelled of stale cigarettes and she got a young lady that was on her phone during most of the massage. I could hear the lady prepping something in the back and came out to setup. She started at my girlfriends head and face. Girlfriend said«I think she massaged my eye sockets». Guy started at my feet with some oils and beat my feet up to the point of being in pain. Told me to turn over and as I turned over I went to take off my shirt and he shook his hand and said no. He proceeded to cover my back with a towel and rub my back and bones again to the point of pain. Rubbed my neck and shoulders for a hot minute and tapped me on the back and said«Ok, you ok?» like he gave me the massage of my life. After leaving My girlfriend and I discussed what just happen. It seems like my girlfriend got more of a massage than I did yet I paid more. The lady that did my girlfriend’s massage was texting and getting phone calls during the massage. I don’t understand what the«super combo» was supposed to be, I do know that I was not impressed. I will never go back to this place! I can suggest a place called Happy Foot in San Jose! for $ 20 not including tip you definitely get your money’s worth. I have been there numerous times and every time I am very satisfied. A tiny asian girl climbs on my back and goes to work. It’s amazing how strong this woman is and how lame that guy was at this Le Juin place. Save your money for the drive down to San Jose!!!

Half ass massage… told the lady who was massaging me twice to use more pressure and it feels like she is rubbing lotion on my leg. She works really slow so she can kill more time. I been to many places like this before and this place is horrible, there are many other places that charge the same price. I am writing my review while I am getting rubbed down right now…

We tried this place because of the Groupon or Living Social special, i forgot which. It is a new business so they are still working out the kinks, hopefully not too long. The massage therapist have been strong and experienced but they are not as polished as some other places as Oceanic Foot Spa. What I do like is they try to take you in the same day but they also have given away my scheduled appointments because of walk-in. My feelings are pretty mixed for this place.

So I went to Le Juin Foot Spa twice last week. The first trip was organized by a colleague for three of us and we did the Foot Spa together, which was possible because they opened curtains so we could talk and share the experience. As the previous review said, this is so much more than a foot massage. They start with your face and scalp, shoulders, hands and arms. Then they move to your feet where at least half of the time is spent. Finally, they massage your back and legs while face down and while you are entirely clothed. Only the foot massage uses oil, the rest is «dry.» The first time I can honestly say that it was the best massage experience I have ever had, bar none, and I was married to an excellent massage therapist for 14 years. It was a heavenly experience. Both of my companions had the same experience. I had a woman who said her name was Susan and I gave her a hug at the end. 70 minutes was only $ 25 at the introductory rate and we could not believe it. Since I was in town for the rest of the week, I called on Friday afternoon and asked if I could make an appointment with Susan again. The receptionist hesitated, but then said Susan would be available at 5:00. When I arrived, I was immediately escorted back to a room, where a man was setting it up. I looked for Susan but didnt see her. The man, «Tony,» brought in a too-hot tub of water and said nothing to me as he started to work on my face. I said, «Wait! My appointment was with Susan! Where is Susan?» He didnt answer but just kept going. His hands smelled of stale cigarette smoke — it was really gross. I let Tony finish the massage and tried to be open to his technique, but it was no where near Susan’s. It probably did last close to 70 minutes, but was not nearly as relaxing. He, like the other reviewer said, took a cell phone call right in the middle of my massage and spoke in another language right next to me. Not very relaxing. When it was over I went to pay using my credit card. The man at the front did not seem to speak English. He took my American Express card out the front door and around the corner — I was really nervous and upset. He came back 60 seconds later and said«No money… no money.» What? I had just used the card an hour prior without issue. So I followed him around the corner to another, obviously connected, spa of some kind where the woman at the desk said she swiped it twice but nothing happened. I called AMEX right then and there to see what the problem was and they told me that no attempts had been made on my card at all. I ended up paying for the foot rub in cash, which is what I think Le Juin wanted all along. They were not honest with the reservation nor with the credit card problem. And they turned was was an extraordinary experience on Tuesday into a never-again experience on Friday.

My friend and I went to Le Juin Foot Spa today and we will never go back. When we walked in the place looked nice so we hoped it would be good. Totally not the case. We waited about 10 minutes before someone entered the therapy room and brought us water to soak our feet in. During the massage, the woman who worked on me, I think her name was Choley, talked on her cell phone in her language to someone for about 10 minutes. She said she had to take the call because something important was going on in her personal life. I thought, fine I understand. Then a few minutes later, she completely left the room and went outside to talk on her cell phone. She came back and started working on me again. A few minutes went by and then she stopped working and started texting on her cell. She ended up finishing my treatment before the other person finished my friends treatment, and I know he didn’t stop in the middle of hers — so I definitely didn’t get the full 70 minutes I paid for. It was probably a good thing since when she massaged my back she kept digging her elbows into my spin and backside. I looked over at my friend during her massage and noticed the guy working on her doing karate chops on her back and legs. Later she told me that he also dug his elbows into her back and even stuck his fingers in her ears. Once we were done, Choley followed us to the door and asked us for a tip. I said we were going to tip upon check out and she said no please tip me now. I have never been asked to a tip like that before and was a bit insulted that she thought I was not going to tip. At that point, to be honest, I would have felt fine leaving without tipping.

My experience was amazing. To give you perspective, I’ve never been to a foot spa, nor have I ever had a foot massage outside of what you get when you get a pedicure. Let me tell you, this was so much more! I loved every minute of the experience. First, Booking the appointment. I was walking back from Draegers and noticed the spa and I set an appointment up for the following day. But I just noticed that you can also book an appointment online by going to their website. Good stuff. Second, the place itself is great. It has a quiet, soothing way about it. You go into a room that is curtained off. The curtains are high quality, have the look of linen, not necessarily opaque, but are thick enough to feel like you are in a private room. The music, the lighting, and the rooms are perfect for the experience. Third, the massage I got was 70 minutes long. I think its called the Foot Reflexology treatment. It includes a face, hand/arm, foot, lower back, and back/neck massage. It was divine. Each massage was better than the first. — face: massaged around the hairline with a focus on the temples. — hand/arm: a must have for anyone that works at a computer on a daily basis. They massaged the inside of my hands as well as the lower arm and shoulder. When my masseuse was pushing on points on my palm, I swear I felt a tingly sensation throughout my body(in a good way!) — feet: this was fantastic. We spend all day abusing our feet, the 25 – 40 minutes spent just on my feet alone was great. After this, I may just skip the Pedi massage all-together. Its just a teaser. This place does the real thing. — lower back: my god did this feel good. Just a few minutes on the lower back, but they go deep and I loved every single moment of the rub down. — back/neck: this was great too. On my neck he found pressure points and squeezed them. Then he rubbed my shoulders and really got into the knots. What a stress and tension reliever! Again, anyone that sits at a computer all day will love this part of the massage. 70 minutes later I was so relaxed. Had I not just woken up(my appointment was in the morning) I would have fallen asleep. All that touching and attention was soooo relaxing. I will definitely be back, but next time I’m going to set my appointment at «nap time» or after work. I really want to close my eyes and drift off as wonderful things are being done to my body.
