I’ve been going to Jose for the past 7 years now. He is by far, one of the best independent mechanics I’ve had the pleasure of doing business with.
When my wife was trying to find a replacement catalytic converter for her Celica, the cheapest price she was quoted out of the first 4 or 5 shops was $ 800. Dunno how he did it, but Jose hooked her up for $ 600 and the next week she was back on the road with a clean smog cert.
2 months later we bought a used BMW 328i. We had it for 3 days before the transmission failed. The used car dealership we bought it from initially refused to pay for the repair, stating the warranty was «as-​is.» We eventually convinced them it was in their best interest to split the cost of the repair with us. Jose pulled the transmission, fixed the problem, and reinstalled the tranny for $ 300!!! A BMW! Try finding anyone to work on a BMW for his price. Good luck.

Jose is all the things you want in an auto mechanic. Reasonable, Honest, Friendly, Thorough, Knowledgeable, Convenient.
I would not hesitate to send anyone I know to Jose for out of warranty, non-​dealership work, as he will do the work that is asked for or the work that needs to be done, depending upon what you ask for. He is communicative about what is wrong and what it will take to repair it. I feel you can certainly trust his judgements. Definitely a five star mechanic!

Jose is the best! I took my car in to get fixed and he noticed my rotors were beginning to warp. Knowing they were still under the warranty, he order new ones and replaced them free of charge. He truly takes the time to do a quality job… and he is really friendly! Jose is a rare mechanic. I almost don’t want to tell you about him!

I’ve known him all my life but trust me, there is no bias here as for the vehicle I have I can sometimes cut corners by going to national chains but I keep coming back to Jose because of the way he works.
It’s a two man shop but it’s extremely well run. You will get quoted and you will be notified before any work is performed.
The prices are unbeatable for the quality of the work. Additionally, your car will be on time.
How reliable are they? I’ll tell you a story.
I begun having issues with my vehicle. I do live a bit away from San Mateo so I took it to a local shop to get it looked at. They said it was the catalytic converters and that they wanted a few grand for the work PLUS a few grand for a new transmission.
I took it to a second shop, same deal. Need new cat converters and a new tranny. Easily a $ 3,000 — $ 5,000 job.
I had it towed to Robex auto repair for a third and final opinion. I told Jose what other mechanics had told me.
few hours later I get a call from Jose. I didn’t need a new transmission or new catalytic converters.
I needed new spark plugs.
BOOM!
Saved a couple grand AT LEAST.
No problems with the car since.
Jose COULD have told me what everyone else did. I would have cried and paid him his money.
But, he didn’t.
Why?
Because the is an honest man,

Jose is a great mechanic! He is honest and will tell you if something is genuinely needed. He wont rip you off either… hes the go to mechanic for my whole family!

So, yes, Jose Garcia @ Robex Auto Repair is an outstanding mechanic. He’ll take care of your car, treat you with respect AND earn your trust as he did mine.

I have know Mr. Garcia for years now. He is the most honest mechanic you will find. He will not charge you an arm and leg for his services. In fact sometimes I wonder how he can stay in business with how low his prices for labor are. I highly recommend Robex Auto Repair.

I can’t say enough about Jose (the owner and head mechanic) and everything he’s done for me over the years. Over the last 10 years I’ve taken every car I’ve had to him (starting with my very first car — a beat up ’86 VW).
He’s one of the most honest, decent guys I know and his mechanical knowledge continues to impress me. If I’m on the road and have a problem I’ll call him up and he’ll help me out over the phone, until I have a chance to bring it in to him. If he can’t find the problem right away, he never B.S.‘s me — he’ll tell me he hasn’t found it yet and keep working until he does. If I need a repair done quickly he’ll always find time to squeeze me in. He even fixed a poorly done repair (from another shop) free of charge.
Jose’s recently become a proud grandfather and I know he wants to take more time for his family, but selfishly I hope he keeps the shop open for years to come.

Ok let me preface by saying that I am extra cautious with mechanics, their pricing and the «quality» of work they do. I have to say that Jose at Robex is awesome. His work is great and always backs it up if there are ever any issues. We take both our cars to him and it is worth it. He is a small shop but has your oil changed quicker and cheaper than Jiffy Lube, takes his time to explain what is going on with your car problems and doesn’t try to add more work onto an oil change or tune up. I will recommend this guy to ANYONE who needs a quality mechanic. Oh, and I drive my car 25 minutes to drop it off at his shop. SO worth it.
