I’ve come here a couple of times now and I’m always satisfied with the food. My favorites are their bowl and the salsa verde shrimp tacos… They’re amazing! The cashier’s demeanor and personality can vary depending on whose attending you. But overall they’re friendly and quick!

I go to this place often cus the portions are just right for lunch and parking is easy. I get a 2 taco plate with a pair or a combo of the original fish taco & gourmet shrimp. The tortillas can’t be compared to freshly hand made ones but they are good enough for a light, quick meal.

Great job ladies! The 3 women working today are fast, friendly, and efficient. Isn’t that what you expect from a business you are spending your hard earned money on. All 3 deserve a raise. I’ve had less efficient service here with fewer patrons and more staff. Just a testament to the work of the ladies today. Great job. Thank you.

Nice, fresh yummy quesadilla and the side items and drinks! To sweeten your tea, you can choose sugar, splenda, or stevia! Yes, I choose stevia! And very friendly employees! And fish tacos, burritos, on and on for great items!

Came here for the $ 1.25 fish tacos on Tuesday wooooooooot woooooooot. Unfortunately for us we didn’t realize this wasn’t an all day deal and it started at 2:30pm. We came here at 2 so we just chilled for half an hour to take advantage of the deal. There wasn’t a wait to order, probably because everyone already ate lunch and went back to work. We saw the menu and couldn’t help but choose other tacos as well — chicken and beef and two fish. The chicken and beef tacos were pretty pricey for just a normal taco instead of their deluxe, more filling ones. Nonetheless the tacos were pretty good. An issue was that the tacos took a while to come out even though we were only one of two tables being served. I don’t think I would come back all the time even with the fish taco Tuesday deal. I can only wait so long before I get hungry for lunch and I can only eat so many fish tacos. Maybe if they had their deal starting at a more reasonable time and more options?

Awesomeness. Im a repeat offender of Rubios. It’s so yummy and fresh. Love all the Salsas. Lunch Sea Bass for $ 12.00 that’s including the drink. Peach Mango Tea. I took it to go. Yummy. And they are so cool… the staff

Friendly stuff + good food. BUT: 1. Where is my favorite tortilla soup? 2. Why is it sooo fucking freezing in there all the time? Not cozy at all. My nipples are about to explode every time I’m in there… 3. Seems like understaffed(especially during lunch time on business days). Sometimes wait time takes 15+ minutes just to get a burrito.

All we ordered was 1 burrito &1 taco. instead of the 3 workers making the food, they’re standing there talking to each other. There was NOONE in this place but us. after 10 minutes of the food being ordered, we asked how long it would take and one of the guys said«they’re making it» RUDE! They obviously weren’t making anything.

I’m giving 5 stars for the top-notch value, great friendly service, and cleanliness. I only had chips and guacamole with a sprinkle of each salsa from the salsa bar(and a fresh brewed iced tea) so I can’t say too much about the food. This was my first stop in this establishment and I was floored by how inexpensive the items were! Not as flavorful as, for comparison, Chipotle, however; the food did satisfy my early morning hunger! Bonus: they open at ten a.m., instead of 11:00, like the competitors of this type of food.

I love my fish tacos. And fish burritos. Unfortunately, the older chunky lady with salt and pepper hair that works here doesn’t seem to care about hygiene or food safety. She took money. Then grabbed chips with her bare hands. Then worked the cash wrap. Then grabbed a burrito and rolled it up. Then touched money again. When I pointed it out to her she got defensive and snarky. Disgusting. Totally in clear violation of health laws and she had the audacity to get rude with me. Worst part was that when I asked for a manager or supervisor she claimed she was the one in charge. WTF?! Clearly sinks and soap are available in the open kitchen. Is it so hard to wash your hands or throw on some gloves if you don’t have time to wash your hands?!

It’s not a taqueria it’s a Mexican chain fast food restaurant. And there’s a big difference between it and an authentic taqueria. Nonetheless the food here is good for a fast food Mexican restaurant. I had the Rubio’s Street Tacos platter which comes with 3 tacos, chicken, beef and veggies with chips and bean dip. The tacos are good, small but had good flavor. The chicken and beef were cooked well. The tacos weren’t great just Ok. I wouldn’t come here again just because there’s many good authentic taquerias around that serve better food.

This was my first time to a Rubio’s and I wish we had these in Chicago! The staff were great — we had a HUGE order for 8 people and they were all very patient with our ordering and made our meal as quickly as possible — everything was perfect. I suggest ordering the Coastal Trio if you want to try three different types of fish tacos at once. I’ll definitely be coming back to this Rubio’s next time I’m in San Mateo!

I haven’t been to Rubios every since college. Back in the day… they obviously weren’t that expensive, but when my sister said fish tacos on taco Tuesdays were $ 1.50, you know I can’t resist a good deal! I got 2 tacos b/c I had a hot chocolate before, and it was just the right amount. The tacos were pretty big and were filled with huge pieces of lightly battered fried fish and slaw. I loaded it with basically all the sauces, onions and cilantro and it made a really legit meal. The fish pieces were big and you can actually taste the light and flakiness of it. Not bad for taco Tuesday in the suburbs!

Place is super clean and the food is fresh plus yummy. What else can you ask for cheap, fast and good seafood Mexican. I have tried the gourmet shrimp taco and it’s really gourmet at very reasonable price. My kind of combo. The people are always nice and courteous and that’s a super plus for me. It may be a chain restaurant but it’s one of the few successful good ones.

Rubios Thankyou for satisfying my fish taco craving today! I got the 2 fish taco plate with rice and chips… first bite of the fish taco was so yuumy! The fish wad deep fried and it was big too I actually could have only done with 1 taco but my eyes were more hungry. I gave it 4 stars as I wanted my taco to be spicy and their salsas just didn’t do it. but overall the food is deliciouse the place is very clean and service was quick with a smile.

I have enjoyed dining at Rubio’s since they had a location at the SF shopping center(before they closed it down a few years ago) and later at the Emeryville locations, both being of great quality and not skimping out. I am sad to report that I am not at all a fan of this location. My hubby and I dined here yesterday, only because he had a b-day certificate for $ 7 towards a meal. Although, he enjoyed his burrito, I did not enjoy my usual rubio’s fish tacos. First, the fish were TINY and didn’t even fill half the shell, while at other locations, they give you a larger piece of fish, and 2nd, it was mostly fried batter that I tasted, so that meant even less fish and these were at the regular price also. There was barely any sauce on it and they served my two tacos and chips in three separate little paper pates, rather than on an actual plate, which my husband had received. Overall, I still love Rubio’s but will just go to the other locations from now on. It’s also far too air conditioned in this one so it feels too chilly to sit there and eat.

I don’t like talking ill about businesses, but Rubio’s California Bowl with shrimp made me sick. The bowl was not at it’s best taste: bland and barely warm 5 minutes after I got it. An hour later I felt sick and had to leave my work place. I do not expect every restaurant to be a superstar, but I certainly expect the food to be edible; However, Rubio’s food isn’t. I don’t know what went wrong in Rubio’s kitchen, but I do not recommend you to eat there.
