Seal Point Park

Amazing place for your morning exercise routine! Clean and well maintained, with a variety of perfect spots to admire the bay! Lots of animals to jog with :)))

I hate writing reviews on places i frequent :(only because i dont want them to become so crowded. I stop here on my lunch break often. The views of the san mateo bridge and the east bay is amazing. It has plenty of parking so you dont have to worry about that just pull up and park. The have a cool dog park located by the entrance. My favorite area is sitting on top of the hill watching the planes fly by. Its one of things that just puts you in a zone and clears your mind of all the crazy stress. The sculptures are cool very interesting looking. This is a must visit if you love walking jogging or just want to relax.

Majestic views of the bay and that bridge that made me study the history of San Mateo (started reading the informative panels distributed along the park). I had no idea that this was a place where oysters abounded during last century and they were distributed to everywhere in the US. I learned a lot while enjoying a morning walking before visiting one of the companies nearby. Located close to the industrial area of San Mateo/​Foster City, this park is perfect for employees who look for a quick break or dog owners to taker their pets out in a friendly environment. I liked those hills and the stairs, and overall I a very pleasant place to be even for some yoga poses (I saw a lady and her son practicing yoga in front of those metal sculptures and found the scene very peaceful).

Great place for an early morning workout. The hill provides a lot of opportunities for sprints up and down. You can bring your dog to the dog park.

I love this park! They have a really cute dog park but they have 2 separate parks, one for bigger dogs and one for smaller.
The other great part of this park is the views. It’s located right on the bay with great views of planes landing into SFO. They have short trails and places to sit near these huge wind chimes.
I think mostly people come here to bike or do the stairs. I’ve brought my niece to the cute playground. To get there you have to go to the northernmost part of the park and cross the bridge.
There are a few Bathrooms located around the large parking lot.

Who knew? BF has lived in Redwood City for quite a while now, and he did not know this park existed. So, after Unilocaling «dog parks» so we could go creep on other people’s dogs, we found this ginormous outdoor heaven, too! If you like biking, running, walking, and doing any of that by the water, COME HERE! So absolutely beautiful! You have a panoramic view of pretty much the entire SF Bay Area, you can watch planes land at SFO, and it is just exhilarating. There is also a kiddy playground at the very end, if you have little ones. After walking and enjoying the water, we walked up to the top of the hill and read some of the info signs in the park. Seal Point Park is located on what was the San Mateo Landfill for maybe fifty years. I think it is pretty awesome to take something ugly and detrimental and make it beautiful and full of life. This was my favorite part of San Mateo to date. I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed by this park.

We want to give our 7month old puppy an adventure each weekend so we decided to check this place out. What makes this place so great, besides it being huge, is there’s a dog park within the park with a small dog and large dog gated area.
The small dog section is a large dirt area with a 6ft x 10ft section of benches under shade for the pup parents to hang out while their little ones play. The play area was clean, the people here were friendly, but the area was just dirt. Would have been nice to have some artificial turf or drought tolerant plant life.
The large dog area was exceptionally large with no real shade, tons of dirt and a bunch of dog crap. So if you’re bringing your dog in this area be prepared to watch where you step.
Once you leave the confinement of the dog park the surrounding park is a massive beautiful area to walk around. With an ocean view, people exercising and the crashing waves of the ocean hitting the rocks as you walk past.

Seal Point is a wonderful in-​city place to get a breath of fresh air and some exercise. They have one of the best dog parks I’ve ever seen with separate areas for big and small dogs. The dogs always look so happy running around here.
The walk around Seal Point to Coyote Point and back takes about an hour. It can be quite windy around the hill of Seal Point but is better along the flats. Though it takes some getting used to, the electric towers become an interesting part of the landscape, even looking beautiful at times.
There’s a tidal rhythm to the bay here so that at times the water gently ripples all the way to shore in a brilliant blue, other times it’s deep and choppy in a dark chocolaty brown, and some days there’s very little water and contours of mud are exposed. There’s always great birdwatching and plane watching. Planes landing at SFO come right through here at a rate of about one every 30 – 60 seconds. It’s not uncommon to see three at a time.
At the hill, there’s an area with artificial turf that’s very popular with trainers for doing sit-​ups, pushups and stretching. The stairs are spaced for running and make for a pretty good cardio workout.
Free with plenty of parking, several restrooms and water fountains. No lighting at night and they lock the gate so make sure you’re back to your car by dark.

Conveniently located park off 101 and next to Foster City.
Parking is plentiful and grounds are beautiful. Views of the Bay Bridge are breathtaking!
It’s also a fantastic place to watch planes land at SFO!
…there’s even a pretty decent sized dog park too!

I come here a few times a week to take advantage of their three level exercise path. You can walk, jog, run, take your dog out for a nice stroll (on leash), or ride your bike at the lower level bike path. There is also an off leash dog run adjacent to the path, down the hill where your dogs can run freely, and socialize. They even provide poop bags for free.
But the best part about Seal Point Park is the view of the water over looking San Francisco and the San Mateo Bridge. It is also an awesome sight to watch the planes descending for landing towards SFO International. There is always a nice breeze especially if you walk or jog at the top of the hill. There are stairs in the middle of the path where you can work your gluts, calves, and buttocks. You will also find very clean public restrooms (two in fact) along the path with drinking fountains. During the summer months, Seal Point Park stays open until 8:30 pm, and always plenty of parking available!

Serene trail great for brisk walks. Not too long or challenging of a trail, but the vicinity to water makes for a calm experience. Dog park included!

This is a great place to climb stairs, go for a bike ride, or simply walk/​jog. What I admired the most was the view of the bay and the modern art structures on site. They do not charge for parking, it is not crowded, and it is windy so you don’t have to worry about overheating while working-​out!

Love this place. Can’t wait to run here again. The view is definitely breathtaking and so motivating with plenty of hills to train in.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. There is a big hill where you can train your legs to run steep inclines and also there are stairs on the other side to exercise with as well. There is also a trail that runs along the water. SO beautiful.
I come here about once a week to run.
It also has a dog park but I have never been.
There is a good amount of free parking. It has always been available every time I stop by the park.

exit 3^rd east from 101 and head straight out as the road curves right… the large mound covering old landfill to the left is the park… endless running and training options around, up, down, stairs and trails… playground for the children… bbq grills and picnic area for parties… enclosed dog parks for animals to run freely… separate areas for various sizes… circle the mound and about 1.2 miles… run across and around mariners point golf course for 4 mile distance… kite surfing near mariners point golf area… can get windy… biking welcome…

I was in the mood to climb some stairs. There is a place in San Jose, called Communication Hill, and all the healthy people go there to walk the stairs. Thanks to Unilocal,it reminded me that this place had just want I needed. Best part is the area is a natural built in air conditioner. Hard to really feel how warm you are with the wind cooling you off.
Decent amount of FREE parking. Public bathrooms. What else? Water fountains. There is a dog park. A couple of trails to jog or walk on. This place is an exercise junky paradise. Bonus is the killer view of the Bay.

I love this area of San Mateo. Nice big dog park, nice trails to bike or walk along the water and great weather. The sculptures are also nice to look at. Very artsy. The views are beautiful. You can see San Francisco and the bridges from there.
It’s a very peaceful trail to walk. I did see a snake on the trail, so watch your step!

This park is created on a landfill. Like the entire city of Foster City, which is literally walking distance from the park. This park actually sits on the very edge of San Mateo where it borders Foster City. So in reality this park can be classified as a San Mateo and Foster City park.
The extensive bike path running through the park make it a joy to ride your bike. It runs all the way to Coyote Point, right through the entire Beach Park Boulevard in Foster City.
It does get hella windy at this park, so make sure you wear appropriate clothing. There is a lack of shade, so apply sunscreen as well if you’re prone to sunburn. You’d be surprised how quickly you’ll feel the sun.
I usually go up and down the man made hill to work out. They also have stairs on the other side of the hill going towards the Bay. It is a nice place to sit and look at the calm waters of the Bay, watch the planes going in for landing at SFO. And of course, the wonderful view of the San Mateo Bridge.
There is a dog park as well for the furry lil ones. It is fenced for safety and a good place to meet other dog owners. All in all, this is a wonderful park with lots to offer. Enjoy your time here.

I usually come right at sunrise or sunset to have an enjoyable run with a breath taking view around the park. I usually have my dog with me and let him play at the «for small dogs» play area and then we tackle on the hills and the stairs. Park is well kept and people are friendly. There’s also a lot of stone benches that I usually do my step workout and bench dips on.
There’s also a spot at the end of the stairs where people who want to kayak or windsurf enter the water. Kudos to the brave.
