Edit: This review was for Dr. Snyder specifically. I have relatively 0 experience with the new Dr. who took over the practice. The folks in the office, assuming they are still there, are probably still awesome. Braces. At 40? Sure, sign me up! Where to start, Dr. Snyder was extremely accommodating in the initial visit(s); going over the various aspects of the different types of braces, etc. I’m a geek so I ask quite a few questions and this didn’t(nor does it) phase him. He recommended the periodontist and maxillofacial docs; Dr. Stephen John and Dr. Richard Fagin respectively, so I didn’t need to find them on my own. Dr. Fagin’s review is in my profile, great guy. I was horrified at the prospects of braces in general. Initially, I thought I had bitten off more than I could chew(bazinga™) but this experience has been nothing, but, phenomenal. The entire staff; well they’re rock stars! Knowledgable and have nothing but your comfort and care in mind. Seriously… get to know these folks; you might as well considering you’ll be around frequently for the next couple of years(less if you’re lucky). They graciously accept cookies and tomato plants without question.* *Disclaimer: Don’t confuse these gifts with bartering(even though my cookies are awesome and should be accepted as trade). Although I don’t know if they’ve shared with Dr. Snyder… maybe I’ve said too much; sorry Carol. –Edit: Carol was also awesome but she’s no longer there *cough*. I hope who they have now is as good as she was. Even though my teeth were pretty messed up before this and I was accustomed to masticating the inside of my cheek; I’m a big baby when it comes to these archwires. They KNOW if I call between visits, I’m going to be coming by to have something clipped… no fuss, no muss. Dr. Snyder is a fantastic, orthodontic mage. Kind, considerate and with your best interests at heart. He doesn’t beat around the bush and always takes the time to discuss topics to make sure you have a clear understanding of what’s going on. And given what my teeth looked like before, he’s a friggin’ wizard! Cost wise; well… they’re braces, so it all depends on which direction you go with it. I personally went with traditional but that was me. From my perspective it was no different than any of the Dr’s in SF. I’m still about 6 mo out, but honestly the experience has been great. I’ll post an update after things are straightened out.(last one, I promise!) Update: My teeth are straight as can be and I’m feeling great about the process.
